Hey man, thanks for the video, i recently bought sonoff SNZB-04, it would takes 1 second to register a close state and probably 2 to 3 seconds to open state. Is the aqara sensor works like instantly? Using ZHA btw.
Mark, Thanks for the video. I want to pick this up for my HASS running on my R-PI, however every model I see on Amazon says it requires The Aqara hub. I have a USB stick in my R-Pi that is both z-wave / Zigbee. Will this work directly with that without needing their hub? Can you post a link to the ones you bought? Thanks in advanced for your help.
Hi Dave, I am not using the Aqara hub. With my Home Assistant, I have used the Conbee II USB device, Sonoff wireless Zigbee hub and more recently the Electrolama ZZH USB device. All of which have worked with the Aqara sensors. Although I don't have a Nortek? USB device, it should work directly with your installation.
@@marklewis5460 Thank you for your quick response. I am excited to hear you didn't use the hub. I was 99% sure that was the case. I'll pick them up and let you know how it works out. Thanks again.
good info mate, didn't know the Sonoffs were unreliable, have these kept on performing well? any experience with switches? I was about to grab a couple of sonoff zigbee switches as well but now I'm doubting of their reliability
@@licanueto thank you. So far they have been doing well. I'm not sure what was going on with the Sonoff ones but the Aqara ones seem to be working. I want to get my hands on some of the switches and the mini boxes
@@marklewis5460 just in case, did you make sure the magnet wasn't upside down? apparently with the magnet in the wrong position it works but not very well
I lined up the marker arrows that are on the units themselves so yeah it shouldn't have been. The one that would stop responding would work after a re-pairing but then stop shortly after. One drained the battery within about 48 hours. It's a shame as I like the Sonoff products and they cover a lot. But my personal experience is that the Aqara products are working incredibly well, and they are only slightly more expensive

Thank you. From my experience, yes, the state change is instant with the Aqara sensors.
i did the same but, even after pressing the reset button for a eternity the device doesnt show up on ZHA :C
