I was 9 years old and me and my bestie would share the headphones to jam out. Music was life. My first movie in the theatres with my friends was Back to the Future. We used to have dance contests to everything the radio. I'll never forget the good times of my youth and the eighties never went out of style.
I was also 17 in '85. I feel like we were all looking forward to the 21st century back then. Instead it turned out like the dystopian future the 80s sci-fi movies warned us about.
I was 15 back in 85 and those where the best times of all! Fashion, music, society, culture, everything! My mom used to say that old times were the best and now I understand what she meant. Proud to be part of the 80's generation!!

My grandma who im very close to was 25 in 85, she says how the disco floor would pump with this great 80s music and the music would blast from radio stations . It was a great heady feeling. She said it was the happiest time of her life.

I wanted to grow up so fast and at that time hated this music but now I love it! I did not enjoy my childhood for many reasons but the music sounds so fresh and new like it's the first time I'm hearing it, now I am glad that I come from that generation. 1973-2023.
I was lucky enough to be living in Oxford England for the most part of the 80s decade. Those were the golden years of my life experiencing the birth of music that will never ever die. Simple but so meaningful.
True fact even if I was born born in 85. That's lots of reasons for that. But we're still here, survived till today. This is a victory by itself. Think about it.
It literally does get better. In 85 there was the rediculous 'satanic panic', high racism, numerous homophobic attacks and being homophobic was considered how you should be, sexism was very high, any LGBTQIA ppl had to stay in the closet, AIDS was ridiculously called the "gay cancer" even tho more straight ppl got it and everyone doed from it then and now nearly everyone can live normal lives with it without passing it on and many have even been "cured" or put in remission due to medical advancements, bullying was considered a "rite of passage" and parents nor schools ever really did anything to curb it, medical, scientific, technological and aerospace advancements since then have been phenomenal, pollution was a huge issue then compared to now, far less ppl die in crashes and it was fairly common then, much more toxic chemicals were used in crops, crash dieting and starvation diets were encouraged, numerous cases of skin cancer happened due to the tanning that was considered "fashionable" and tanning beds became a popular thing then, majority of people died from cancer then, LE corruption in places were off the charts then compared to now even tho it definitely still happens, crack was literally planted into inner city and urban areas mostly populated by POC and it became a literal epidemic, child abuse was routinely overlooked and beating kids with whatever you could get your hands on was considered normal, rape victims had a harder time then compared to now even tho it certainly isn't good yet, worldwide information is at the world's fingertips now even tho too many use it to troll or spread lies, "trickle down economics" were implemented in the 80s by boomers and that was a MASSIVE disaster, credit scoring was implemented in the 80s by boomers, boomers implemented deregulating the minimum wage so it no longer had to keep up with inflation so people are paid WAY less than they were yet still b*tch about the younger ppl "not doing what they did", and boomers implemented the regulations that allowed corporations to no longer pay taxes in the 80s which then caused an ongoing and worsening economic crisis with literal billions of dollars per year no longer going coming in as taxes leading to families now needing a 2 income household and even then most cannot afford to buy homes or move out of their parents homes. What went down after the 80s is strictly on the shoulders of the boomers that enacted all of those ridiculous and harmful policies. The only people claiming everything was better in the past are the ones who f*cked everything up for those coming in the future or of a particular demographic that didn't deal with sexism, racism or homophobia.
I was 5 in 1985, I remember it well I miss those years so much. I remembered the bud driving me home from kindergarten hearing Aha Take on Me, every time I hear the song I’m that kid in the school bus. We were lucky kids, teens , young adults to live through an incredibly magical era
I was 20 in 1985, and it became one of the best years of my life. I think I came across someone who really love me, but I let her pass by. Lots of heartful memories. I graduated in 85 , 19 that fall. Wow, what a time to be alive. Lots of great tunes and the love shared. The cloths and hair was a real trip. Americans found freedom with-in our selfs at a young age and just let it roll out. What a time, what a real good time. This was the result of hope from a bad economy and the fear of war. We all said Fu@$ it. We are gonna live life.
I was 18 in the summer of 1985. Everyone my age says the 80's were the best and for certain they were. I can listen to these songs today and remember where I was when I heard them for the first time, usually it was when I was cruising in my car. Sometimes in the evening when I'm alone I listen to these songs and it brings the memories of my youth back to me. I'm fortunate enough to be able to share the music of my time with my children and for the most part, that's what they listen to today. Long live the youthful memories of the past.
Absolutely. I miss the 80's so much. Even though we had the cold war and AID's, there was still a sense of unity and optimism about our future. Fans and musicians banded together to support causes like Live Aid and Farm Aid. The economy was doing great in the USA. The clothing and hair styles were unique and amazing. We had really cool music being produced all over the world, especially new wave, pop, and punk rock from Europe and the USA. The movies were genre defining and still hold up great today. The world today is a nightmare in comparison.

Having grown up during the 70s & 80s, I can honestly say those were the 2 BEST DECADES PERIOD!! I was a teenager in the 70s & twenties in the 80s. The BEST music (70s/80s), BEST hair (80s), BEST clothing (80s), BEST TIME EVER !!!! I turned 21 in 1984 & had a total blast! If anyone can get Doc's DeLorean, I'll be more than happy to program it right back to any time during those decades!!

@@josebro352 Getting your VHS stuck in the player, not being able to skip tracks on your cassettes, playing the commodore 64, having to arrange by telephone to meet people outside a set of shops because you couldn't call or text them once you'd left. Awww it was grand! People say it because it was simpler, with a bit less stress and people were more sociable. You occassionally saw friends and hung out with them instead of seeing their avatars on social media. A lot of the best media came out around that time due to experimentation and hollywood hadn't gone utterly insane with ridiculous budgets. AH-HA's take on me for example was the most expensive video to date when it was made. 80s Action movies, Arnold Schwarzenegger. If you lived in the U.K. I seem to recall the weather being better and us having these things called "seasons". Zero hour contracts weren't a thing as far as I recall. Stores used to stock things you might actually want. No internet really, unless you were in some sort of business that wanted to tinker with it, no social media, armchair politicians, armchair activists spouting stupid opinions on topics they know bugger all about. We had bob geldof for that. Some things were better, some modern conveniences are better. People say it out of nostalgia and comfort. And in the 80s people hadn't discovered those 4 chords in ever taylor swift song yet so music was actually good. Movies had these things called genres... and this thing called acting, practical sets and effects so every movie didn't look identical. Anything else? Nope! Think I got it all.
Oh and the serial killings, quite a lot of that carrying on from the 70s! What a time to be alive, unless you were one of the unlucky few who... you know... weren't.@@josebro352

my best friend and i loved everybody want to rule the world by tears for fears. we were 13 years old and not a care in the world. great social life, great music, parties, dancing-- excited about entering our freshman year in high school. the next couple of years were even better. the 80s were a magical time!

There's over 1/3 less violent crime today than there was in 85 and property crime is less than half what it was in 85. As far as immigrants go they are far less likely than native born citizens to commit crimes and end up incarcerated. There is ample data on the subject leading back to the late 1800s and the results are very clear.

I was one of the lucky ones, who had with my younger brother and sister amazing parents , and a care less childhood lived in a quite neighborhood, and played till the streets lights went on on street, and in the back gardens with the neighborhood kids with sometime this good music as background music. Sights, my god how i miss being a kid in the eighties.

In 1985, I was 29, and my wife was 23. This music is like liquid gold! The 80s, what amazing music! My beautiful and gorgeous wife, coming up on 40 years, she is timeless and never seems to age. We go out cruising most weekends in one of our exotic machines, while listening to so many of these songs. So, we met and married in 84. This journey we have been on has exceeded our wildest dreams! To not only have achieved the America Dream, but the best part is our 7 adult children in our first 11 years, 85 to 96, and now 5 grandchildren who are priceless. What a life we have been blessed with. As crazy as the world may be, it is not part of ours! It's amazing how the time has passed so fast! We still though have so much more to look forward too! Living our blessed life now!!!

Great mix! I miss the 80s on a regular basis. I remember being a kid in the 80s, and it just felt... safe. Like things were good, and only going to keep getting better. Anyone who grew up in the 80s was part of the last generations of humans who grew up offline. No cell phones, no devices, no surveillance cameras everywhere. We were happier and healthier for it. I always wanted to get to 2000 and beyond and leave "the olden days" behind. Now, I'd love a chance to go back and experience the 80s again, even for just an hour.
I was 15 years old and in Year 10 in high school in 1985. I was living some of the best times of my life. I went to my first ever concert and saw Spandau Ballet and a few months later they were playing at the Live Aid concert. I miss the 80's so much. Wonderful memories growing up with family and friends. I wish I could go back and do it all again but sadly those days will never return.

I was a Senior in high school and graduated in May of 1985. 40 year reunion is coming up next year. WOW, has the time flown by. I'm 57, a Mom of 4 with my youngest being a Senior when school resumes in August. My son is 37, my oldest daughter is 33 and my middle daughter is going on 32. I also have 10 grandchildren. The oldest is 15 and the youngest is 3. Love 80's music. A few of these songs I have on 45's! 😊

True fact even if I was born born in 85. That's lots of reasons for that. But we're still here, survived till today. This is a victory by itself. Think about it.
It literally does get better. In 85 there was the rediculous 'satanic panic', high racism, numerous homophobic attacks and being homophobic was considered how you should be, sexism was very high, any LGBTQIA ppl had to stay in the closet, AIDS was ridiculously called the "gay cancer" even tho more straight ppl got it and everyone doed from it then and now nearly everyone can live normal lives with it without passing it on and many have even been "cured" or put in remission due to medical advancements, bullying was considered a "rite of passage" and parents nor schools ever really did anything to curb it, medical, scientific, technological and aerospace advancements since then have been phenomenal, pollution was a huge issue then compared to now, far less ppl die in crashes and it was fairly common then, much more toxic chemicals were used in crops, crash dieting and starvation diets were encouraged, numerous cases of skin cancer happened due to the tanning that was considered "fashionable" and tanning beds became a popular thing then, majority of people died from cancer then, LE corruption in places were off the charts then compared to now even tho it definitely still happens, crack was literally planted into inner city and urban areas mostly populated by POC and it became a literal epidemic, child abuse was routinely overlooked and beating kids with whatever you could get your hands on was considered normal, rape victims had a harder time then compared to now even tho it certainly isn't good yet, worldwide information is at the world's fingertips now even tho too many use it to troll or spread lies, "trickle down economics" were implemented in the 80s by boomers and that was a MASSIVE disaster, credit scoring was implemented in the 80s by boomers, boomers implemented deregulating the minimum wage so it no longer had to keep up with inflation so people are paid WAY less than they were yet still b*tch about the younger ppl "not doing what they did", and boomers implemented the regulations that allowed corporations to no longer pay taxes in the 80s which then caused an ongoing and worsening economic crisis with literal billions of dollars per year no longer going coming in as taxes leading to families now needing a 2 income household and even then most cannot afford to buy homes or move out of their parents homes. What went down after the 80s is strictly on the shoulders of the boomers that enacted all of those ridiculous and harmful policies. The only people claiming everything was better in the past are the ones who f*cked everything up for those coming in the future or of a particular demographic that didn't deal with sexism, racism or homophobia.

I was 5 in 1985, I remember it well I miss those years so much. I remembered the bud driving me home from kindergarten hearing Aha Take on Me, every time I hear the song I’m that kid in the school bus. We were lucky kids, teens , young adults to live through an incredibly magical era

I was 20 in 1985, and it became one of the best years of my life. I think I came across someone who really love me, but I let her pass by. Lots of heartful memories. Besides the great music there was, we all really felt FREE in those years, I mean FREEDOM that comes from within. Now is 2023 and still chillin' with the best of the 80s. Best wishes from Perú.

I graduated in 85 , 19 that fall. Wow, what a time to be alive. Lots of great tunes and the love shared. The cloths and hair was a real trip. Americans found freedom with-in our selfs at a young age and just let it roll out. What a time, what a real good time. This was the result of hope from a bad economy and the fear of war. We all said Fu@$ it. We are gonna live life.
I was 18 in the summer of 1985. Everyone my age says the 80's were the best and for certain they were. I can listen to these songs today and remember where I was when I heard them for the first time, usually it was when I was cruising in my car. Sometimes in the evening when I'm alone I listen to these songs and it brings the memories of my youth back to me. I'm fortunate enough to be able to share the music of my time with my children and for the most part, that's what they listen to today. Long live the youthful memories of the past.

Absolutely. I miss the 80's so much. Even though we had the cold war and AID's, there was still a sense of unity and optimism about our future. Fans and musicians banded together to support causes like Live Aid and Farm Aid. The economy was doing great in the USA. The clothing and hair styles were unique and amazing. We had really cool music being produced all over the world, especially new wave, pop, and punk rock from Europe and the USA. The movies were genre defining and still hold up great today. The world today is a nightmare in comparison.

Having grown up during the 70s & 80s, I can honestly say those were the 2 BEST DECADES PERIOD!! I was a teenager in the 70s & twenties in the 80s. The BEST music (70s/80s), BEST hair (80s), BEST clothing (80s), BEST TIME EVER !!!! I turned 21 in 1984 & had a total blast! If anyone can get Doc's DeLorean, I'll be more than happy to program it right back to any time during those decades!!
That was the summer of our generation and now we are in the winter or the fourth turning which is the end of the game my friend. The next game or turning or generation does not include humanity as Dr Evil says.

@@josebro352 Getting your VHS stuck in the player, not being able to skip tracks on your cassettes, playing the commodore 64, having to arrange by telephone to meet people outside a set of shops because you couldn't call or text them once you'd left. Awww it was grand! People say it because it was simpler, with a bit less stress and people were more sociable. You occassionally saw friends and hung out with them instead of seeing their avatars on social media. A lot of the best media came out around that time due to experimentation and hollywood hadn't gone utterly insane with ridiculous budgets. AH-HA's take on me for example was the most expensive video to date when it was made. 80s Action movies, Arnold Schwarzenegger. If you lived in the U.K. I seem to recall the weather being better and us having these things called "seasons". Zero hour contracts weren't a thing as far as I recall. Stores used to stock things you might actually want. No internet really, unless you were in some sort of business that wanted to tinker with it, no social media, armchair politicians, armchair activists spouting stupid opinions on topics they know bugger all about. We had bob geldof for that. Some things were better, some modern conveniences are better. People say it out of nostalgia and comfort. And in the 80s people hadn't discovered those 4 chords in ever taylor swift song yet so music was actually good. Movies had these things called genres... and this thing called acting, practical sets and effects so every movie didn't look identical.
Anything else? Nope! Think I got it all.

my best friend and i loved everybody want to rule the world by tears for fears. we were 13 years old and not a care in the world. great social life, great music, parties, dancing-- excited about entering our freshman year in high school. the next couple of years were even better. the 80s were a magical time!

There's over 1/3 less violent crime today than there was in 85 and property crime is less than half what it was in 85. As far as immigrants go they are far less likely than native born citizens to commit crimes and end up incarcerated. There is ample data on the subject leading back to the late 1800s and the results are very clear.

I was one of the lucky ones, who had with my younger brother and sister amazing parents , and a care less childhood lived in a quite neighborhood, and played till the streets lights went on on street, and in the back gardens with the neighborhood kids with sometime this good music as background music.

There were so many good songs during the 80s that I took those for granted. It wasn't until the 2000s that I realized it.

My beautiful and gorgeous wife, coming up on 40 years, she is timeless and never seems to age.
We go out cruising most weekends in one of our exotic machines, while listening to so many of these songs.
So, we met and married in 84. This journey we have been on has exceeded our wildest dreams!
To not only have achieved the America Dream, but the best part is our 7 adult children in our first 11 years, 85 to 96, and now 5 grandchildren who are priceless. What a life we have been blessed with. As crazy as the world may be, it is not part of ours!

Anyone who grew up in the 80s was part of the last generations of humans who grew up offline. No cell phones, no devices, no surveillance cameras everywhere. We were happier and healthier for it.
I always wanted to get to 2000 and beyond and leave "the olden days" behind. Now, I'd love a chance to go back and experience the 80s again, even for just an hour.

I was 15 years old and in Year 10 in high school in 1985. I was living some of the best times of my life. I went to my first ever concert and saw Spandau Ballet and a few months later they were playing at the Live Aid concert. I miss the 80's so much. Wonderful memories growing up with family and friends. I wish I could go back and do it all again but sadly those days will never return.

Well shared. I lived those decades. Joining the Army at 18 in 82.Anyone remember Billy Jean, Sexual Healing, or Gloria!, oh goodness, it goes on and on and on. I lived it all through this music!! Just keep your ears out for all the sampling you hear nowadays from these so-called "original" artists. lol A laugh. (although some of it does sound ok. But only because they sample the 80s or 90s).

I was a Senior in high school and graduated in May of 1985. 40 year reunion is coming up next year. WOW, has the time flown by. I'm 57, a Mom of 4 with my youngest being a Senior when school resumes in August. My son is 37, my oldest daughter is 33 and my middle daughter is going on 32. I also have 10 grandchildren. The oldest is 15 and the youngest is 3.
