Also, take it a step further Cassie, instead of covering up the abuse with makeup, makeup artist, security guards, etc. should speak up when they see the abuse initially, not 8 or 9 years later. Everybody is coming out now.
If you were ever SA or invoked in a DV incident you would understand. Trauma can Incapacitate you both physically and mentally. Your first thought is one of survival Not Every person has the strength to speak out right away just look how many people failed to believe Cassie.
@DeloresSimpson-go7yf the only people who failed to believe Cassie were people who were not associated with them. People who were associated with her and Diddy knew what she was dealing with. She went to an awards ceremony shortly after this beatdown by Diddy taking that picture with Jay-Z, Beyonce, Alicia Keys, and her husband, etc. with the bruises. Her own makeup artist said she was covering up the bruises with makeup. None of these people said anything. Who does that? One of his body guards saw him abuse women. There were so many complicit people here.
Additionally, I have heard stories about Diddy in the 90s. I am sure Cassie knew who he was too; yet, she started dealing with him possibly because of what he could do for her career and financially. Prior to her, he had 4 babies by 3 different women, both of whom stated they were abused by him at a point. All red flags prior to Cassie; yet, she started dating him at 19 and stayed with him 11 years, and 2 years after this beating we are seeing today. A lot of complicity was happening.
Lastly, you are correct, I have never been in a DV situation, but I know I am not choosing to deal with a guy who is 16-17 years older then me, has multiple children by multiple women who he did not deem worthy to marry. That right there is a red flag to me. There is no need to test the water. Also, my parents would have a fit. But this is my unpopular opinion and feeling.

When I was in an abusive relationship I kept pictures of every bruise and black eye even though I was still stuck. I had it because when it comes time to leave and the world turns on you they can’t deny what’s in front of their face. I never want to take attention away from someone else's experience. But I think I'm going to put it here. As someone who's gone through violence and has seen domestic violence (DV) up close and personal, I can tell you how heartbreaking it is when no one believes you, when no one trusts what you say, and when everyone thinks you're lying.
I can also tell you how hard it is to walk away. People keep asking why you won't leave, but how do you walk away when this is the only life you know? When you finally do walk away, it takes years, and, as someone once said, it never fully goes away. You're always going to be scared to trust, scared to love, and scared to move on.
People need to start believing survivors, and people need to start talking about it. Domestic violence can happen to anybody, no matter their sexuality, religion, or background. So yeah, that's all I'm going to leave it at. But it's truly heartbreaking.
