  • Spent last week in Ylläsjärvi, Lapland mostly struggling with clouds, but also managed to capture some nice auroras in a scenery lit by the full moon.

    Amazing work !!!
    1. So what time of the day you shot these northern lights? 2. Does Februrary month has more cloudy nights which affects Aurora Siteseeing? 3. Is rovaniemi and ivalo good place to spot the lights? or should I head to more north?

Thank you! 1) When it's dark.... depends on solar activity, but typically between 22 - 02 is the best time. 2) Clouds are always the biggest challenge, but I'd say February is not worse than couple preceeding months. 3) The more North the better the chances and higher up the auroras will be. So preferably higher than Rovaniemi. Something like Utsjoki, Kilpisjärvi, Ivalo, Ylläs....

Do you use a motorized panning mount? Your panning movements are so slow and smooth despite time lapse.
    Beautiful work.

Thanks, yes in some shots I've used Syrp Genie (but some movements are just added in post)
