    Great walkthrough! I’ve watched several MoTU how to plays, yours was the most effective in my opinion. Well done!

    Thanks for doing a video, I couldn't believe no one had done a How to Play after the game's been released.

    Great work! I appreciate the way you broke everything down and I prefer this to the official sponsored/shorter how-to video that’s also available 👏

    Had a blast playing my first game and so appreciated watching your explanation afterwards-- it really helped to clear up some confusion about my running the controller track. It is an elegant and straightforward game but the rule book could have taken some tips from you in terms of arrangement and clarity of rules. Thank you, as we are all looking forward to playing again!!
    Btw-- love the MOTU Micro figures off to the left-- they are surprisingly good sculpts!

    Finally got this off my shelf last night and was a bit overwhelmed by the rulebook. Cmon usually have very clear and concise rulebooks but I felt this was all over the place. I didn’t know that the hero characters can also be the controller and for it said that if you are the controller the power is placed anywhere. I was also looking to see what that the strategy card does I kept drawing a strategy card everytime it was activated.

    Hi! Thx for your Video. Was very helpful. I think you explained Attack Boost incorrectly at 15:38. If there is an attack on a skill card that has an attack boost, you can only use it for that skill and not for another weapon or ability.

    Thank you for the video, sr. But it will be great to have videos for people who have never played a board game. I understood half f what you said.

    Excellent explanation.
    I’d suggest adding a comment about when the Controller and their Characters spend Power that it is simply discarded as I’ve seen a few times where people thought the Power goes back to the Player Characters, which is not so.
    Also, (and I’m sorry if I missed it) but having Man-E-Faces there may have confused some watchers as his Skills doesn’t quite work like the other Characters. It’s a cool mechanic and probably best explained in a separate video. But the whole time he just sat there with no special mention to how he’s different, even when you had the perfect opportunity to explain it when you said the Sorceress and Snout Spout get to pick a Skill.
    As a “Getting to Know the Basics” type of video this is top notch. But maybe saving Characters with special rules like Sorceress’s shape changing and Man-E-Faces for a special character video might be best. Just my personal opinion.
    Thanks for the great video.

      I do mention at one point that Man E Faces is a special case. That is a good point about controllers spending power. I maybe can add that in as a subtitle.

    This game looks amazing. I haven't gotten mine yet. It seems everyone is complaining about the solo rules. I'm curious as to how bad they can be

    • @TheMeepleMarathon
      @TheMeepleMarathon  Рік тому +1

      They are just very half-baked and there is almost no clarifications in the rule book to cover all the ambiguity that arises. The AI also seems to be either very brutal or super easy, depending upon the scenario you are completing.

    Nice video, the wife and I are getting ready to play our first game and this was really helpful!
    Quick aside, where did you get the 3D boulders that you have on your playmate?

    • @TheMeepleMarathon
      @TheMeepleMarathon  Рік тому +2

      They came in the Box of Power aka the stretch goals box from the Kickstarter campaign.

    1 note. When you get a new skill through escalation, you immediately get 1 power on that skill.

    In my first play we ran into a point of contention regarding "Line of sight" and Rocks. The Rock terrain states that it blocks line of sight but also that it provides +1 attack targeting outside of the terrain. Seems intuitive, getting a bonus for having the high ground. But then both Melee and Ranged attacks require line of sight. So since Rock explicitly states that it is blocking line of sight is it then preventing any attacks? No, of course not but this could have been worded a bit better. And also, do you get the +1 for both melee and ranged attacks? Can you get the +1 for a ranged attack that is made one or more hex away from the edge of the terrain? None of this is addressed in the rule book. We decided that you can only make ranged attacks (both up and down) and only from the edge of the terrain. Seemed the logical chose

      @TheMeepleMarathon  Рік тому +2

      This is one of those instances where the rules definitely need clarification. I like that they included "Terrain Cards" to help with rules questions, but the rules are not clear. I have personally been playing that the you have line of sight to people on rocks and down off rocks, but you can't shoot through rocks or from one rock to another rock. Hopefully that makes sense. (I also give a penalty to anyone attacking from the ground, to someone on a rock ... -1 die).

    I'm a massive motu fan, so that's why I had to get this game.
    The limited scenarios for the AI is really disappointing. I think two (rescue and the holidays one), are basically the same, and when I've read some of the other scenarios, they don't really excite me enough to set up.
    I would love to have seen this game done in the Folklore the affliction style, world map of Eternia, different little battle sheets and a story to follow.
    Then we could get some proper expansions, instead of the crappy ones we got.
    Look forward to seeing your AI video.
    Take care.

      I haven’t looked into it much but Fields of Eternia might be more like that. I do know it’s more of a world map of Eternia and it has a more campaign feel to it. It’s just not easy to get in the US yet
