I did the same thing with my Inspiron 14 2 in 1. The model number is 5406. It's faster than the same year model XPS, plus I have a full sized SD card slot, 2 usb A, and HDMI ports, upgradeable ram, SSD and more. It was a no brainer and I kept over a 1000 dollars in my pocket.
I can't say that I'm surprised at this result. Well done Lauri. I will ask if you did go into the BIOS of each device to ensure each was properly tuned for power usage. These units have a vast array of hardware settings in the BIOS which can and will drastically effect the performance if they aren't configured properly and they're usually quite conservative from the factory. Thanks.
I say the same, the Dell XPS 16 maintains 60W in the GPU but he mentions that it only reached 50W which is related to the balanced thermal management mode.
This comparison video could even have been made two years ago with the first Inspiron Plus and the last XPS 15. Both came with lntel 13th gen H CPUs but the thermal headroom of the Inspiron was so much better that it also had superior performance. Then, as now, the XPS had a far superior screen, sleek design & very good build quality (if you didn’t get a dud one with an unfixable trackpad). The Inspiron was less than half the price but much higher performing without the heat and throttling issues of the XPS. And much better ports etc. The build quality was ‘acceptable’, the green colour was pretty cool but the screen was too dull. Dell used to make very good quality Inspirons as range toppers. My son still has his 2019 Inspiron 7506 Black Edition with a 4K touchscreen, built in pen dock and an all metal chassis and it still looks great. Sadly these days, Inspirons are all plastic and self destruct pretty rapidly.
Question for you, would you recommend a couple of laptop options for me? I'm a creative director at an advertising agency in central New York State. I do a lot of video editing and audio editing in production. I've been in the business a little over 30 years so I bought my fair share of computers. But I really like your style and your knowledge and would really appreciate your Insight on a new computer. I'm currently using the top of the line Alienware 17 inch laptop with the I-9 processor and 64 gigs of RAM. But its 3 years old and has had two motherboard Replacements LOL crazy for the amount of money I spent on it. Let me know if you want to talk via DM or something.
Is there a good laptop that's under $1000 that had the ability to stream via OBS that has HEVC/AV1 encoding on board? I need something decently to stream and record and do video editing, not gaming.
Thank you for the review!! I would love to see how the new Intel Ultra 9 285k performe and if it‘s worth waiting for or if we shoulf go with the i9 14900k because of the price difference! Also because I asked Asus about the new Creator Z890 and they cant tell a date for the release :(
I have a zenbook pro 14 ux6404vv With 13700H 105w and 4060m 125w I get 1070multi on 10min 2024 loop. Something wrong with your xps16, It should be able to push past a 1000 or just under
I'd rather stick with the Dell Precision 5690, it's much more powerful, all the bad things that the Dell XPS 16 has are corrected in the precision, plus it can support a better GPU like the RTX ADA A5000, excellent build materials, 4k+ OLED touch screen, and it's not as limited in power since it has a 165w charger.
your audio quality changed drastically in this video. I hope you're not using one of those iPhone 16 pro's with that screwy microphone setup with the audio choices in IOS?? the settings suck. or maybe the microphones.
The XPS 16 just sucks lmao. Fun fact, the XPS's 14 is the slowest RTX 40 series GPU on any laptop right now, a 30W RTX 4050. Meanwhile, the slowest 30 Series GPU (The Ampere 2050) is a 25W 2050 on a cheap Acer Aspire 5 ultrabook. Dell really thought that they could put cheap ultrabook internals and put it in a design nobody asked for to win over customers. Actually I'd highly suggest going with a used XPS 15 9530 or used XPS 17 9730. Killer deals on eBay right now for the 4080 and 4070 variants of those
$1000 dollars for the 16 ' inspiron. not no more. click bait. it is $1700 on amazon right now. still not a bad deal for what you get. but I would buy this laptop today for $1000 in a heartbeat.
Micro sd card? These laptop manufacturers must think CC use only android phones, fly drones, and have no use for a DSLR, or have no clue how to use a micro sd card adapter. 😮😊😂😂 🤔 No full size sd card slot, soldered memory, no brainer, no go. MHO, and I don’t care which brand does this. Yet, if that 16+ was really 1000 or less, some might want it, and you could say it is worth it for that money (oh wait, you did say that 😅). Better choices in the above $3000 category. Thanks for the vid, later.
I would prefer to stay with laptops, but SADLY, nearly every Mfg. has enlarged the size of the Track Pads so much, as to make the keyboard UNUSABLE for a Touch Typist! It is impossible to NOT touch the Touchpad with the palm of your Thumb Joint, to the heel of your hand, thus sending the Cursor to hades and gone, and inadvertently 'clicking' on some part of the page, thus destroying whatever text you written, or whatever work you've done. I've decided to switch to a Mini-PC and a Bluetooth keyboard when I can afford it, and NEVER buy another laptop again! Cheers from the Oil Patch in Central WY, USA
@@pnp072000 Normally that would be the case, however, this laptop is a refurbished unit and whoever refurbished it didn't install the necessary drivers with the application there to attached that allow me to turn the touchpad off which would normally be the case. I do thank you for the suggestion though, it was nice of you to post it.

Yes the bass is missing seems flat
I noticed but once you picked back up i didnt care.
Look like on camera sound
For a moment I thought that there was a problem with my phone or the earphone 😂

What's the difference between the Inspiron 16 and 16+, do you know?
thermal grizzly paste can fit in every USB-A hole as well as the power hole!

Dell XPS 16 the screen is lighter, but the Inspiron 16 has a budget
Didn't know how much RAM can make all the difference

Inspiron sounds like ryanair once it does anything outside of basic use
