    Stuff we use:
CAMERA - This is the camera we have used to film 90+% of our interviews (over 200 interviews and counting) It continues to be our workhorse - amzn.to/2u66V1J
LENS - Most people ask us what camera we use, no one ever asks about the lens which filmmakers always tell us is more important. This lens was a big investment for us and one we wish we could have made sooner. Started using this lens at the end of 2013 - amzn.to/2tbtmOq
    AUDIO
Rode VideoMic Pro - The Rode mic helps us capture our backup audio. It also helps us sync up our audio in post amzn.to/2t1n2hx
Audio Recorder - If we had to do it all over again, this is probably the first item we would have bought - amzn.to/2tbFlM9
LIGHTS - Although we like to use as much natural light as we can, we often enhance the lighting with this small portable light. We have two of them and they have saved us a number of times - amzn.to/2u5UnHv
COMPUTER - Our favorite computer, we each have one and have used various models since 2010 - amzn.to/2t1M67Z
EDITING - We upgraded our editing suite this year and we’re glad we did! This has improved our workflow and the quality of our work. Having new software also helps when we have a problem, it’s easy to search and find a solution - goo.gl/56LnpM

This guy comes off as very smug

He seems to think he's the Auteur, singlehandedly making the movie.

Other ways foodservice is like production: mise en place (everything in its place, pre-prepped at the ready) ; food costing ; dealing with vendors ; dealing with worker concerns.... Too many to list.

Fire, you bet. They detract from an efficient and functional team. Dump the functionally deficient too, same reason. Too many filmmakers that dole out titles, they shouldn't be filmmakers. If I cooked, there'd be no crew for day two, so no.

Do you cook breakfast for your crew? Would you fire someone who is late?

A; I get a mixed vibe from this guy 😑. He seems nice on the surface but when things on set fail or go sideways he might get 😡. B: I find it interesting he did not mention safety or having safe, practical locations for crew/actors. Safety IMO is under rated in 2019 Hollywood. C: no, I would not do crafty or meals for most 2019 actors, crew. 👷🏽‍♀️🎬📹📺💵.

I understand firing someone who's late, but maybe not first time, and if I did I'd need another plan.
Providing breakfast would encourage everyone to be on time. I like that idea.

I would by all means (and have in the past) fire someone who is late. I myself always went with the rule that being on time for a shoot means being 15 minutes late - and while I can't require that of my crew, this is generally what I hope for and the people who show up early without me needing to ask are the ones who usually continue with me from project to project.
Aside from Zeke's point - I think being late (for anything, not just work) is simply rude.
And as for making breakfast for my crew - yes, by all means! My budgets tend to be too low for me to pay a full rate for many of my crew, and yet when people are willing to come out and work hard to help make my film - that's just the very least i can do to show my gratitude. Any chance i get, I try to do nice things for my crew, not just making breakfast. I've worked on large sets before in different positions where i felt insignificant to the production and i felt that people (usually those with largest egos) were bothered by my mere existence - i strive to make sure my crew always feels appreciated.
So yes, i'm with Zeke 100% on this. You gotta set the bar really high and demand no less than 120% of everyone - but likewise you need to make sure you do your best to recognize everyone's efforts.

@@DavidLLambertmobile DL, Zeke doesn't mention safety in this clip but he does talk about it in our interview. (Not sure if the clip has been posted?) He stresses safety and how he will not put a crew member in danger.

An interesting contrast... I guess he's not done theatre and doesn't try what won't work.

Zeke what if someone’s stuck in horrible traffic? Would you still fire them? Geez!!

Cool to hear from the $ perspective.

I always wondered how one becomes a Producer.

Theres a Producers Guild of America. 😉 ... producers can be good but some are aloof, demanding, aggressive. Look how Disney sacked the Mayans & SoA creator, producer. Dont be a over bearing jerk or a hothead. Dont act like Harvey Weinstein. Don Simpson was a Hollywood legend but he'd never be a 2010s film industry producer. RIP Robert Evans. 😔🎬🎭

Two ways: You have money or you can find money, and you bring everyone together to make a film. 2) You start in the production office, work up to APC, then PC, then APM, then PM, then producer.

I wish I knew what he cooked for breakfast and how he cooked for a crew, that’s no small task. And it probably is a good breakfast if he cooks it.

But what if someone in the cast or crew is stuck in horrible traffic? Some cities have really bad traffic, would you still fire?
