CS Lewis actually died the same day JFK did...

So glad radio 4 as it is now has not changed in 50 years, or at least has kept the general format the same. Proud to be British! Haha

Does anyone have a recording from the BBC World Service at this time?
I think it would be interesting to hear how they covered the assassination & funeral.
I'm guessing there would have been an in-depth, global approach to the news & analysis.

At the 44:02 point of this clip, there is a promotional announcement that the BBC's Third Network would pick up NBC Radio's coverage of President Kennedy's funeral the next day.

Granada TV's "Scene At Six" were the first on ITV to report on the assassination of JFK before ITN could pickup the story on the national ITV network at 7pm after regional programmes.

Amazing that a BBC R.P. (Received pronunciation" accent seems the only accent that makes UA-cam subtitling 99% of the time spell out or not mishear the words incorrectly.
Try it for yourself and see. It only seems to mess up a little with the phone calls from Leonard Parkin.

It ought to be remembered that JFK was as divisive a figure in US politics at the time as DJT would later become. I remember hearing the late John Peel on the wireless some years ago, describing how he was in Dallas at the time and witnessed the Dallas Oil Exchange erupting into cheers when the news was heard.

The first BBC newscast in this clip must have been broadcast around 6 P.M. London time (1 P.M. EST, 12 Noon CST), given that it was reported that Oswald had been shot less than a hour previous (after 5 P.M. London time, 12 Noon EST, 11 A.M. CST).

As this was a Sunday, BBC Home Service aired their regular Six O'Clock News along with Radio Newsreel so this is most likely when this was aired.

The first recording comes from Radio Newsreel that was broadcast on the BBC Light Programme at 1900 GMT

What accounts for the difference between the way the Iraqi and Spanish protesters were handled by the British authorities? There's a monograph there.

Was that Leonard Parkin who later went to ITN

+Richard Sharpe Yes the very same. The BBC were in panic mode that day. All their main News casters were on holiday. So it was up to Leonard Parkin [Then of the BBC World Service] to be the main reporter in Dallas. From the New Forest.

In that case we look forward to you explaining how the guys framing him knew:
      - where his guns were kept
      - he would show up at the Paine house Nov 21 so they could pretend he smuggled the rifle
      - he wouldn't simply stand out in the street to watch the parade
      - no bullets or fragments would ever turn up that did not match to his rifle
      - he would immediately flee the TSBD and head specifically to Oak Cliff
      - he would take evasive action to get to his rooming house
      - a cop would be driving at 10th and Patton at exactly the right moment for an Oswald imposter wandering the streets to gun him down and plausibly blame Oswald for it
      - the cop would not simply outdraw and capture the imposter
      - Oswald would obligingly help frame himself by trying to shoot a second cop minutes later with the same gun
      - Oswald would make no attempt to beg protection for his family or blow what he knows or suspects about a conspiracy while addressing the entire world on live TV
      - he would specifically request the services of a lawyer he'd never met who specialized in left-wing causes
      - the guy planting a bogus bullet at Parkland Hospital has any idea he isn't planting one bullet too many into evidence and simply blowing the whole plot
      - they can safely approach scores of police, FBI, Secret Service, ballistics experts, military personnel, witnesses, doctors, x-ray technicians, several commissions, reporters, journalists, etc., and persuade them all to obey illegal orders to commit complex crimes and make themselves all accessories to murder and treason.
Thanks in advance for clearing this all up.
