Incredible Night and determination from the boys as they sailed to a 2-0 advantage in the first half with 2 delightful assists from Chris Long as he set up Daniel Agyei for a first half brace! Reality hit in the second half as Crewe give away a lousy corner and conceded within 45 seconds by Andy Cook! After multiple flares were thrown onto the pitch, the game continued but even 10 minutes flew by without Andy Cook controlling the action again as he assists Jamie Walker to make the game level.
Crewe were incredibly dominant in the first half, conducting the flow and tempo of the game, in the second half the tides changed and it was Crewe on the backfoot. In the 68' Courtney Bakar-Richardson joins the team in replacement of Lachlan Brook who was having an extraordinary game both attacking and defensively. Bakar-Richardson gave Crewe that extra muscle they needed up top and it sure worked as Crewe were gaining some control of the game again and building momentum. They went back to a traditional way of attacking by hoofing the ball up bubt with Bakar-Richardson breathing down the defenders necks, they managed to create a few breakaways. The final 10 minutes of normal time were littered with controversial decisions from the referee which could have seen either team throw it away with major tantrums. After a blinder game, Joel Tabiner ran his course for the badge tonight and came off for David Amoo in the 90+6'. It was end-to-end football with each man putting everything on the line for a single chance at glory. Just when nerves were getting too much, Crewe whipped a lovely ball into the box that we managed to control the 2nd ball and without thought, Bradfords defence throws a stray leg, giving away a penalty!
Unfortunately the penalty taker who could've gotten his hat-trick was on the bench. It was down to Long to create a memorable night with 2 assists and potentially the winner. Before the ball is struck, another flare is thrown on the pitch in an attempt to distract Long. Long showed impeccable composure and SMASHED the ball into the top left corner in the 90+11' minute to give Crewe the lead once again! An incredible night of football with quality on the pitch throughout the game.
