It's funny, but in Australia guys generally choose a 2V head and then port it, chasing flow- talking hot street/strip/burnout motors. A lot of people get worried about the epoxy degrading from the fuel... We really embraced the Cleveland motor in Australia. I believe Ford Australia bought out the rights for the Cleveland in the early 70's. We didn't really build many Windsors here until people started importing create motors and of coarse most of them are slapped together P'sOS that end up being rectified on our end. Ford Australia used the Cleveland up until about '84 - '85, because they were our factory Ford V8 that's what got race development over here, not really so much the Windsor. The only place the Windsor was commonly used was in our V8 Supercars championship in the 90's on. Most other categories of racing stuck with Cleveland because of it's potential to make great power with the canted valve, big port heads. Even back in the 80's it was relatively common to see street/strip/burnout Clevos that would rev to 9,500 - 10,500 RPM... I'm a mechanic of 25+ years, I worked with a guy in the mid 2000's who had a really nice XT GT Falcon with a Cleveo swap, it looked like a bone stock, gold XT GT- but had a stroker Cleveland that reved to 10,500 - 11,000 RPM way too often for it's own good (for a street car, it meant the engine had a short service life- but the damn thing never fell off it's powerband). It would still be pulling HARD at 11,000. With a top loader and a set of 2.9:1 diff gears I witnessed him (I was in the car) have some young blokes in a modified Mitsubishi EVO 8 or 9 pull up wanting to race- this mf double clutched from 4th to 1st gear @ 100km/h and left this modified Evo for dead. It must have pulled 140 - 150km/h @ 11,000 in 1st gear, snapped 2nd smoking the stockies with little 225/60/15's from 150 - 180km/h... I'm holla'ing at him to shift this thing (knowing the load and potential for mechanical carnage was making me squirm), but looking back it was one of the most impressive N/A street/strip motors I'd ever had the pleasure of experiencing
Interesting content, as soon as I saw the sectioned head I knew it was going to be good- but we didn't get a good look at the cutaway section ourselves, that would have taken the vid to the next level for someone like me. I wanna SEE stuff like that, not just hear about it. Small complaint in the scheme of things... Love your work 👍
Rebecca, Even back in the mid '70s we ran NHRA Pro-Stock and Comp. Eliminator Cleveland-powered cars that devastated the competition. The cylinder head design of the Cleveland helped set the pattern for many current racing cylinder heads. B.T.W. The Windsor series are great and reliable engines. Both engine families have their place.
Great story, thanks for sharing with us. Yes the cleveland patterns, were sent to Australia back in like 72. Man hard to believe those engines could rev that high. Must have had high dollar valve springs. Wowser. No a lot of guys mess with 2v heads here. May pick up a set of Aussie 2vs. And mess with them. More in the way
Thank you, Mrs. DragBoss. Mr. DragBoss and Darin pair up well. Mutual respect and passion for the topics come through loud and clear. Lots of info. and even highly technical subjects that can sometimes be tedious are presented in a relatable manner. Lots of interest when Darin is aboard. Future plans including Darin will provide the audience with even greater shared practical knowledge. The audience awaits. Wishing the Family DragBoss the most wonderful Holiday Season!
Thank you Bill, yes, those two could, and do as you have seen talk for hrs. At least I have an idea that cylinder heads and airflow most of the time more is better. I wonder what they have up their sleeve next. Talking a library of knowledge, videos, Darin knows a boatload. The Bossettes say hi Uncle Bill, Happy Holidays, they are on the way.
Man, that's amazing, ol Bob Glidden was putting it on em son with those back in the day. Always loved how it pissed off Grumpy Jenkins and Warren Johnson. Professor of what? 😂😂😂. Thank you Tim for all the tech talks!
@MrsDragboss thank you, and might I say another thank you for being such a great racing wife and partner, I can see the joy in Tim's eyes when he speaks of you and your daughters. You are a member of a small club, like my wife and kids were back when I was still involved in racing. Thanks again.
This is great Tim, having Darin at Dragboss HQ!
Absolute Legend.
950 horsepower at his fingertips!
Darin has the answers.
Have a great day guys.👍🇺🇸👍
Tim was so excited, like being on cloud 9 Ed, dream come true

This Clevo you speak of, hitting 11.000 rpm, question....was it a 302ci or a 351ci Cleveland? just curious. Also, stock rods & crank??

Sounds like Superstock stuff, fill in the port, keep up the velocity, good video guys, you can make hp from any head,.... How much money do you have?
That’s it how much do you got ?
That seems to be the whole question on racing, how much do you have to spend. Thanks for watching my channel
Search Bob Glidden...he loved those Clevelands
He sure did, so does DragBoss, maybe more, thank you
950 is amazing!!! Great video Tim!
Thank you, glad you like it
Always great information!
I try and get the golden nuggets I can, thanks Mike
Hey Mike good to see you 💯🏁

The video ended just before we arrived at the .......gulp...exhaust port.
Ha ha, you will have to see the rest of the story, stay tuned.

Thank you Marvin for watching my channel
Did I hear Darin say , 250 more ,,, ?
745 pretty easy and with full race potential for 950hp
How much will the 2V Heads Flow?
DragBoss said maybe 180-200cfm, maybe close but less for exhaust
Cool short video 👍
Thanks guys, DragBoss, has the exhaust port details he said
Drag Boss, seems really amped up, for some reason!
That’s me, full steam ahead.
He was like that the moment Darin drove in driveway, all crazy and smiling. Don't tell him I said that ☺
I bet that 950hp is at a lot of rpm so light rods, pistons falve springs...
DragBoss said at like 10k rpm
Just Drop an LS in it it'll out do that Ford and be cheaper OY
Why and ruin my build, I want what we have planned. No LS junk DragBoss said
@@MrsDragbossLS stands for (losing steadily) anyway. That's why you find so many in the junkyards still to this day.😂😂😂
