This has been one of my favourite videos, especially the little winchester tour and tiny day in the life! I love watching vlogs and especially about card games and nice places. The investing in sealed is a nice insight too. I think you're right about patience to make returns, the closest I've gotten is trading in to some singles to try and get ahead of the market as a player in TCG's but even then I panic and sell as soon as I profit, I've seen cards tank in price or in some cases go waaaaay up after I sell and this is talking months not years. I definitely couldn't sit on sealed product with my habits and impatience 😅 It's such an interesting thing to see and hear the other sides of the community though, it feels hostile online like there are stigmas and divides between investing and playing and it's nice to relax and learn a bit.

That’s why Pokémon sealed across multiple years works well. It’s slow steady and stable with the odd set that goes wild. But if and when you do take profit then it is what it is, you’ve done well. Will the set go up later down the line? Probably but also you sold and made profit so it’s best to try not to think about the what ifs if you can. Yeh a lot of people HATE the idea of investing in cards games. It’s funny as Pokémon seems to be the only one where you won’t get tones of backlash around investing but other card games can be wild if you mention it!

I do think it's getting riskier due to a lot of people doing it but at the moment the huge collector demand is keeping things balanced. In terms of a Pokémon set that's three years plus and still below retail the only one I can think of is Shining Fates. They really killed that set. I'd imagine it'll still go up though. I definitely think the best way is to buy cheap and wait. I just never want to be the moron buying 151 ETB's at £100 when they didn't want it for £50. The amount of people I've seen saying they're investing in Evolving Skies at £700 a box is insane. Definitely hard to justify buying newer card games. I've got a little bit of all the anime games (Weiss, UA, Universus, OP) but no idea if they'll do anything. Awwww, cute cat.
Haha yeh I’ve heard that across the years though, that people think everyone’s doing it but you’ll have “bad” sets come out like early SV sets that people struggle to sell and no one wants yet the cycle continues the same with chilling reign and battle styles, people just didn’t want these boxes at like £80-90 each for about a year. Haha my bad I completely forgot about shining fates!! Yeh let’s be honest 5-10 years from now it’s just not gonna be a £30 ETB. And if somehow it is well the 12 other ETBs from the era will be more than enough to make up from it. That’s it! You could buy ES at £700 a box, but there is risk that it COULD drop back to £500. But buying a set that’s a year old at £90 ish a box just doesn’t come with that same risk. Would that ever drop to £60 and if somehow it did would it stay there for years? Couldn’t see that happening and has still never happened. Just so much less downside risk than buying into hype sets or sets that are already wayyyy past RRP. Yeh in terms of sealed investing, outside of pokemon things like WS, UA and OP the risk is just far too high for me to justify. It feels like high risk high reward which generally rarely works out. I do own a few OP sealed boxes but it was kinda me just wanting to collect them than investing in a sealed case.
