    Great video Dave. I completely agree with your review.
    I've noticed that I'm catching a lot more slides with the DFP for 2 reasons:
    1.) I can feel when the slide actually starts (when the back and first begins to step out)
    2.) The DFP is SO FAST. Lap-saving adjustments can be made lightning quick.
    Coming from a T300RS, any direct-drive wheel base will be a near infinite step up. But I just can't get over how much better it is to drive with my DFP. I'm really loving it!

    The FFB strength also has a lot to do with the in-game settings. For iRacing, you can set at what telemetry output it hits 20Nm. So if it's set at, say 60Nm, it'll scale so that when the telemetry hits 60Nm, the wheel is putting out 20Nm. I have a Simucube 1 which is basically the same thing as the VRS with the small mige. I keep it at 100% and use in-game settings to get the feel where I want it.

    I bought a Simucube 2 pro thinking I needed the 25Nm. However, I find that I generally have mine set to about 5Nm. I guess that the strength of a guy who spends a lot of time picking up packets of crisps and nothing heavier. Note I have transitioned from a 15-year-old G25 in recent weeks so 5Nm is a big upshift.

      Where do you get your hub kit for the fanatec rims?

  • @arniefunkel9341
    @arniefunkel9341 2 роки тому +3

    I think I'll most likely go with this wheel to get back into sim racing. After originally being excited about the Fanatec CSL DD for 350$ + a power supply. I don't think the 350$ wheel itself has ever been in stock. If you buy the wheel and power supply together for 500$ it used to be (150$ for a power supply lol). Now the only option in stock is 600$ for the Grand Turismo edition, the same wheel which also works on playstation.
    600$ for a 350$ wheel which claims 8nM. With as sketchy as Fanatec has become, it probably is more like 7nM PEAK for a microsecond. You can bet Fanatec would have mentioned the word "continuous" several times in big bold letters. I could be wrong but I'd guess in reality it's probably more like 3nM continuous at operating temp

    I'm perplexed by if I need a spacer with my VRS, and if I do, what recommendations regarding make, model, size, etc. For context, I have a SimLabs PX1 with a standalone single monitor mount, the MIGE front style wheel deck, and a 49" Samsung UW. I kinda think that I do need a spacer but I'm unsure if a 3"+ (70-100mm) is overkill or not. Perhaps the rule of thumb, better to have extra than not enough, I'm guessing...
    Also, does it tell you how many Nm 47% actually is? I've read that most people use around 8-10 Nm.

    • @raziel2710
      @raziel2710 4 роки тому

      Can't help with the spacers but 47% is just under half the power of the unit so roughly 8nm. I personally use 50% in the VRS software and adjust in game per car.

    Hi Dave,
    So do you think it gives you a negative outcome because of its accuracy to detail. What i mean is that someone using a csw or a G series for example that cannot replicate the road textures in relation to movement of the wheel. Belt driven over a DD. the case i making is that you are more likely to adjust your speed and brake inputs if you are bouncing around on a track such as Serbring, a belt driven from the lower end will not feel them and be a little smoother and possibly faster.

    • @releentleess

      I've migrated from logitec g29 to simucube 2 ultimate, and after 2-3 hours of driving i was able to improve my laptimes just a bit, 10s of a second. The advantage is that you have more control over the car, it gives you all the details and you can push the car more on the limits, also easier to catch slides etc

      I just moved to dd1 and What I noticed is if the ffb is too strong then I am figting to turn and ending up not turning enough. And on big curbs like last chickane on lemans, I struggle because it bounces a lot. So I found that it is better to lower ffb for a level where I can easly do 3h of racing, get more detail and at the end it turns to be faster

    • @davecamyt
      @davecamyt  4 роки тому +1

      Not sure Chris. I see your point, but you could also argue that the car would be unsettled by something you can't feel is there.

      @@davecamyt I can see both sides and personally using a CSW 2.5, sometimes when it goes it goes and there is no stopping it. I was on pole last night and lost it just on a curb and sat there in last. Now, maybe if i had a DD base i could have felt the rear left (curb side ) losing traction and countered before it even affected the balance and started its rotation.

      What is your smoothing setting at? You'd find it's a bit noisy at 0 smoothing since you're getting the raw signal. If you're at 1 already maybe try 2? VRS is also working on the firmware and one of the fixes in the next official release is to make it a bit quieter under low/no load.

    Do you auto configure the ffb through iRacing when you change cars or tracks? I’ve noticed that if you do there is a huge difference between light open wheel cars and heavier GT cars. This makes a big difference for me with a CSW 2.5 - some cars and tracks auto configure to 9 or 10 and others auto to 20.

    I'm wondering how realistic this force feed back really is. For example in real WRC car the power steering is so strong that you get no feedback from tyres. That's why drivers are really struggling if the power steering is not working. But I think pretty much all the rally games there are and you are driving WRC car you get feedback to your wheel. Of course on cars with no power steering it's another story.

    Curious if you were running cloud tuning on the Accuforce. In the forums there are many long-time users who say that has transformed the feel of the wheel. The cloud tuning is the one thing that has me considering the Accuforce V2 vs. the VRS.

      The SimCommander Cloud Based Tuning feature has much improved the experience of using my AccuForce wheel base.
      Having a prepared profile matched to the car/track combo you're driving eliminates the complaint about tweaking the SimCommander software.
      I've had my AccuForce for over a year and I'm grateful for the Cloud Based Tuning features.
      I can be less the 'mechanic' and more the 'driver' again.

    I'm nothing to do with Accuforce, but I think you do them a bit of a disservice not pointing out you had the V1 not the V2 - Barry from SRG was a lot happier with the FF from the V2. The V1 is over 5 years old now.

I really had my heart set on getting a accuforce v2, after seeing your review on you v1 it seemed the best choice moving up from the thrusmaster t300rs that I have now.. but now you say this is loads better than your v1.. if your only running it at 47% can you justify spending the extra £800+ for a little bit more road feel??
