For those who have fear of the chains breaking as posted in several comments, you don’t have to worry about that at all. As a flatbed truck driver, I use chains to secure various loads and need to know that strength of them. The smallest chain at 1/4” and lowest grade is rated for 1,300 lbs. Each swing on the ride has two occupants, and multiple chains attached to the swing. One 1/4” chain alone at the lowest working load limit rating is enough to hold the swing up. These chains appear to be larger at around 3/8” and the lowest grade rating for strength of that size of chain is 2,650 lbs. Given there are 8 chains to each swing at the smallest chain size and lowest strength rating, those chains cover 10,400 lbs of weight on each set of swings. I’d be more worried about track damage and roller coaster derailment at an amusement park before worrying about a ride such as this breaking.
Not panicking here was a good call. If for some reason you ever find yourself in this situation, remember the biggest downfall of load bearing chains is shock loads. Aka, the more you bounce, the more the chain stretches, the more likely it is to break. Depends on how often they’re inspected and how much it’s stretched over time. But if you’re trying to maximize your chances of survival, avoid adding sudden tension to the chain. I understand why they use them, because chain is weather resistant and less abrasive, but that seems like a big risk to me if someone who doesn’t know what they’re doing forgets to or incorrectly inspects the chains. Not to mention, we have no idea how often they’re replaced. I’m not a fan of this ride for that reason.
Hail possibly. Lightning should not be a problem because the tower holding them up would have to have been designed as a lightning rod and likely gets hit regularly.
@Schniiiiiiiiiiiiif Hail isn't freezing rain, hail is caused by water kept high up in the cold part of a thunderstorm by the updraft, then falling when it gets too heavy. It falls so fast it lands on the ground even if it's 90 degrees down there.

@ekaterinastepanova2492 True, but it's also incredibly irresponsible for the ride operator and the park to just leave people dangling up high during a storm. Like "Y'all are on your own now! By-ee!" But maybe liability issues are different in Mexico or maybe one of them cartels owns this park 🤷♀️ All I know is that ish would definitely be a lawsuit or something if that happened in the US or Canada. Even traveling carnivals are held to safety standards and regulations; they would not just leave people literally hanging on any ride. Nor would they operate said rides if conditions weren't looking good.
That kind of ride used to be banned because it was slinging people off as the chains would break. Those rides always break somehow. At Lake Winnepesaukah people were thrown into the Lake and drowned in the 1980s or 1990s I think it was.
I was at Six Flags Mid America in my teens when one of the sky lift gondola cars fell and killed people. I was very close to the impact and ran towards the broken gondola on the ground and saw legs and arms sticking out. I was terrified. I don’t do ride the rides at amusement parks anymore

When I was at cedar point they ran the rollercoasters in the rain. It's the lightning you need to worry about.
@@brandon8900 i worked for cedar fair as well at a different park. Light rain was always fine, but if it's pouring like it was in that video, it can really mess with the safety sensors on the rides, so we always shut down in heavy rain.

I'd be more afraid of lightning. If that storm produced any. Seeing how it seems to be one of the tallest structures. That wouldn't be good.

Thunderstorms with lightning and hailstones could have been deadly.
Hail possibly. Lightning should not be a problem because the tower holding them up would have to have been designed as a lightning rod and likely gets hit regularly.
