I met Billy Joe a couple of times easiest down to earth guy I ever met. Once was when he walking the side streets of Ann Arbor before a show at the Ark he talked to me and my wife like we were old friends it was one of my greatest memories of meeting someone we had admired for so long he is one of greatest song writers there will ever be ❤😊
Love this cat...I couldn't help but talk about y'all a bunch on my community radio show tomorrow cuz I love these stories and this world. What a gem thanks Otis. SJOCR
Thank you Fred Koller, it is a treat to hear Bobby Bare stories and writing songs is an art on to itself. Reading is a recluse’s best hunting grounds. ☘
So was I. I opened for him in Newcastle. Back stage, after our set, the band shook my hand, when Billy arrived I held my hand out, but before any words left my mouth he walked straight past me. 😵💫
I was surprised and happy when I found out my favorite comedian Norm McDonald was good friends with Billy Joe. Even Canadians know good country music songs when they hear it 😮.
My dad had a show in the late 60s in Bainbridge ohio- I have these reel to reels of tom Paul and the glazier brothers- amazing show- I gave Lynn a copy a few years ago transferred to digital years ago- the world should hear these recordings - amazing brother harmony’s
"The only Billy Joe song you ever heard would still be the best song you heard that year." How true is that! You can't go wrong when people like Jerry Jeff, Willie, & Kris Kristofferson are lauding your songwriting skills, for gosh sakes! I think I heard Billy Joe songs by guys like John Anderson, Waylon, & Johnny Paycheck, before I heard him sing Old Five and Dimers Like Me. Funny how that works.
How about some Phil Lesh stories from Nikki Bluhm, she is awesome and has been in the mix for awhile, whoever you get next i will love it as always, thanks Otis
I was backstage a few times with Billy , when I worked for Todd snider. I must admit He kinda scared me . I remember just hoping he didn't focus on me 😂😮❤️🕺🏻
Nashville has always been afraid of raw, genuine talent that could not be harnessed or contained. I grew up on all these people, from Chet to Billy Joe and David Allen Coe. It just seems to me that you just don’t upset the apple cart in Nashville. My .02 anyway.
The story of Billy Joe stalking Waylon around Nashville is well known. Waylon finally listened to the songs and cut Honky Tonk Heroes. I just don't like the album. I've listened to it several times. I can't understand what Waylon heard that was so special. I love Waylon but not that album.

Fred Koller is an authentic person. We need more people like him today more than ever.
I asked him to play my wedding after a show one night. He said, “I don’t do funerals”….Should have listened to him.

Rhino Books is awesome along with Fred (and Charlotte the cat).
Nashville has always been afraid of real country music.
Is that an Ace Double among the paperbacks?!? (Middle of the top stack.)
Where words are important…
👌😎
And the guy has a copy of 'Mandingo" right behind him theres some controversial writing....

To each his own. I think it's brilliant. Your mileage may vary.
BJS was and is one of the greatest songwriters to walk this earth. Just ask Bob Dylan.
No thanks…😂
