I've been wonderin' if the fishin had turned off slow.. Saw the truck hooked up several times but no new vid for a bit.. It's good ta see you and Trav havin a good day fishin.. Looks like a fish fry may be forthcoming.. 😋🤠
It has been slow. They are spawning now. We did best with the jugs, we had 22 hooks in the water. We caught most in shallow water, 4-6 feet deep. The biggest, on the rod was in 18-20 feet deep.
As a professional snapping turtle catcher I’ll share a tip on how to get hooks out of their mouth the easy way, you must lay the turtle on its shell (up side down), then check the position of its vent to determine its sex (females vent will be even with the back of the shell and males will be slightly lower, once you have figured out the sex the next step is Very Important!!! On a female you rub the bottom shell/belly or as we call it the airplane, this will allow her to fall asleep and then just remove the hook, if it’s a male you will need to squeeze the tip of his tail until his eyes roll back in his head then just remove the hook. Hopes this helps.

I’ll be sure and tell Travis this in case we ever catch another one. 👍
