great video, and as a new to airbrushing person, nice that you DIDN'T time-lapse most of it!, that shows GREAT respect to us newbies, that it is OK to go slow, it's not all about "secrets" and keeping everyone in wonder ( should not be like magic, KNOWING does not diminish the awe of it all! ) and besides it all shows how skilful you realy are as artists.
Many thanks for your comment and glad that you enjoyed the video and that you particularly like that I try my best to show as much as possible in real time, I am happy to hear that this helped you out and you really found the video informative. All the best 👍🏻👍🏻
I bought a bunch of stuff using your affiliate links. I’ve been watching your videos like crazy. Going to get my first airbrushes next week in the mail. Super stoked to see what I can do.
Being new to airbrush I really appreciate the "easier" projects. I think it looks increatible. Whatever the level of experience needed to complete a project, I think all your videos are helpful. Rock on bro!
Another great video. Thank you again for sharing your talent and knowledge. I am one of those people who learn best from seeing something done and I appreciate that you stay in real time and explain as you go. A lot of people speed the video up and I end up learning nothing. Keep up the good work, mate!
These are beautiful in January I’m having total knee replacement left when I’m off work I will have more time to practice airbrush but I’m using it to touch up equipment hear at work and used it on my truck to learn how they spray I have Iwata eclipse and nova both have same needle and spray different.
Amazing and especially how quick and easy you make it look so much so I have ordered some templates to have a go at it, always up for learning a new skill.
Hello Oz nicely done that is a good looking skull under an hour that’s cool, We can all have shop class and have a friend or two that would like to know how to airbrush this Skull would be awesome.🕶
hell yah brotha finally a question geared tward my pay grade .... and yes here in the states we call it a........ Q-tip!!!! but seriously love your advice and knowledge to helping me become a bad ass airbrush dude. wish you were in the states or i was over yonder to take your classes. thx
Thanks for your comment, we are hoping to soon have ‘pay to download’ videos focusing on our one day course available so that everyone worldwide can take our classes...we will still offer our free videos however the pay to download will be better quality and much more in depth tuition 👍🏼
Hey mate, great video as always! Just a small little pointer, the human skull has 4 quadrants of teeth, in the configuration of 2-1-2-3. 2 Incisors, 1 canine, 2 pre-molars and 3 molars..it just looks like on your skull there are just a few too many teeth! Unless this is some sort of mutant skull then don't worry about it! ;-)
Yep, lol...great spotting but this was by no means intended to be based on a realistic skull so let’s just say he is 50% human and 50% mutant 😜 thanks and appreciate the comment 👍🏼
Hello. I just subbed to your channel. I was an art major in high school and I would love to get back into the airbrush scene. Live the template idea and live the free hand technique combined.
Got a question how would it look if you did it in ink? Im a newbie but was thinking about ink work or is paint better thanks for any information you could share i can watch theses videos all day so thank you
That’s me ‘back bubbling’ therefore putting my fingers over the aircap and pulling back in the trigger to reverse the air pressure to dislodge any dried paint 👍🏼 glad you liked the video
Excellent video yet again.. I have a question though. Does using the spray adhesive on the back of the stencil not cause contamination when it comes to shooting over the job with a clear coat at completion. Thanks
Thanks appreciate the comment, good point this is purely a sample panel, I don’t use spray adhesive for any curved surfaces such as harley tanks, I usually cut my own paper templates or curve my Mylar temples and use my fingers (on the template) to keep it in place when spraying .
What air pressures you using for each brush? I'm assuming you're using .3+ and .18+ tip brushes. Are those paints milk thin consistency? Also, what paint set are you using? Would like to do some skulls myself. Thanks in advance
Hi there thanks for your comment take a look at this recent video that I did which should answer your question : ua-cam.com/video/iipihxzoZTc/v-deo.html
Brilliant as usual Carsten. Thank you, really value your help. With blueing on white highlights is a good work round to add a couple of drops of the sepia or flesh tone before applying the white highlight? I just wondered if it would stop the white being able to flip to the blue side and keep it in the natural tones spectrum?
Good question Phil, not 100% if that would work and totally stop the blue shift as this generally happens when the white goes over these darker tones, worth a try though. Appreciate your comment hope this has somewhat helped 👍🏼
Hi there you could check out the iwata HPCS eclipse great all round brush that you will have for years and years feel free to check out more info by visiting the following ‘affiliate link’ amzn.to/2MNXoGg you can also get a iwata IS875 compressor which can be viewed by visiting this ‘affiliate’ link amzn.to/2NKfRDf (this one comes with a HPCP airbrush) hope that helps 👌🏻👍🏻
@@AirbrushAsylum o o should've probably asked them if they're a beginner or not before popping those links. I would just get a reasonable cheap compressor with a moisture trap, if it doesn't have one, get an inline moisture trap for the hose and the Iwata Neo if they are a beginner, that way they don't spend too much money at first and if they enjoy it and get a nice flow, could then upgrade to the Eclipse. Iwata's are like the ferrari's of the airbrushing world.
I use Trident waterbased airbrush colours sealed with a 2 pack clear. You can purchase them from dna-paints.com as they ship internationally if you are local then we sell them on our site airbrushasylum.com.au cheers 👍🏻
I am new to airbrushing, and really enjoying your videos. Can you clarify for me, are you primarily using .50 needle for the majority of the painting and switching to .35 for the fine final details??
Hi there and thanks for your feedback and glad you are enjoying our videos. For general airbrushing I tend to use either a 0.3 or 0.35mm brush and for detailing I use a 0.23 or 0.18mm hope that helps . 👍🏼
Dear Sir: Thank you so much for presenting your Airbrush Skills on UA-cam. The first time I seen and Airbrush was at the "World Of Wheel" 1980's Washing DC. A guy had an Airbrush booth whom could Airbrush anything realistically. You stepped into his booth with a Polaroid of your car and girl, then this man made magic with his airbrush. He could take the ugliest car and woman and make them look like gods on the T-Shirt he airbrushed. I was like I can lean to Airbrush. Yea that did not happen because back in the 70's- 90's no one gave up their Airbrush secrets. Believe it or not, people would take your life for your airbrush secrets back then. I was making Ghostbuster Slimmer T-shirts back then and I had 3 guys approach me at my stand and told me if I do another it would cost me and my family their lives. Thank God for the Internet Sir and your Videos today. I will bring my brushes out of the dark to enlighten the future if you will help me teach a new generation of Airbrushes. Love Turbo
This video was perfect for me cuz I just got a skull stencil with the same thing all the positive n negative stencils, what do u mix ur paint with reducer n what ratio 1 to 1?
Glad it’s helpful for you and have fun with your templates, there is really no set ratio as it depends on brand of paint, air pressure and personal preference, I usually work with approximately 30% paint and 70% reducer 👍🏼
Actually a first I've heard someone call burnt umber by its "scientific name" or what ever paint charts go by like plants with common and Latin names! Love burnt umber myself love it for creating a base layer for working artificial rust!

I've found that neodymium magnets work well to hold down the stencils, if you can get one on top and one under it to clamp it down. Awesome channel 👍👍

Artistic license really! You wouldn't want a buckled tooth goofy skull on your tank or whatever really! However funny as heck that would be to see lol
