Hey Angie! Thanks for this helpful video 😊I actually just received a BA offer from McKinsey- while I’m super grateful, I’m also feeling a bit scared about the 80hr work weeks, lack of work life balance (and sleep). I was wondering how you managed to stay healthy (both mentally and physically) while at McKinsey and whether it’s even possible to do so?
Congrats! That's an amazing news! When it comes to work life balance, a lot of that comes down to the team as well as setting your own boundaries (which can sound quiet difficult and daunting to do in the beginning), but the more experience you are, the easier it'll be for you. So don't worry too much about it now, enjoy and celebrate the success!
Hi, Angie, Thank you for the video, it was really inspiring. I am a postdoc in environmental science now , but I want to leave academia and go consulting. My universities are not target schools, do you think is there any chance to go MBB?
Angie, why were you more interested in getting into BCG than the firm Mckinsey which is still considered the Godfather among management consulting firms? What is the magic you saw in BCG?
Haha, it was because I had an interview with BCG during my internship recruitment, and my interviewers were extremely supportive - I couldn’t secure one with mckinsey at that time
Hi Angie, Thank you for the video, it was very insight! I am a big four consultant ( non - strategy) in Canada with 2 years of experience so far ( still work here) , and 2 years of experience working as an engineer before that from a top Canadian Engineering School. I would like to pivot to one of the MBB firms to focus on strategy, consulting. I have a fairly low CGPA , but over 3.5 in the last year ( last year being the most difficult in engineering programs). That being said, someone with 4 years of total experience, would Mckinsey still care about GPA? especially someone coming from a big four firm. What could I do at the meantime to increase my chances of getting an interview? From your experience as an interviewer, what are some of the things I could leverage to help me stand out from the crowd? Thank you, -Peter
I'd say GPA is probably more relevant for campus recruiting. Unfortunately I'm not familiar with off-cycle/ off-campus recruiting process, but I'd way resume & networking will always help. Other than that, make sure you can really tell your story and demonstrate your spikes (strengths that you are known for) will be really helpful during interview (in additional to excelling your case interview)
@@missangielu ya cuz I'm interested in training and consulting, I am from Taiwan, now I had to open my own consulting, are you open to discussing how could small or independent consulting work?

Thanks again Angie for another insightful piece. Do you review CVs for potential candidates?
Your lipstick shades are always so nice. Can you please share the brand and the shades of the ones you wear for these videos?

they always call at end of day or next day
Where can I get the project from if I am not student anymore

however, for the consulting like MBB, do they require only prestigious school like Harvard northwestern etc?
MBB and others still largely recruit from prestigious / target schools, however, they are also expanding their recruiting base
