Just listened to the pod while cleaning the house. Had to come on to youtube just to leave a comment about how great this interview was. Players are almost never this open and honest, was really cool to hear.
Don’t lie to us. Patricia was a better coach than Jones was a quarterback. A quarterback who didn’t think he was a finished product would learn from Patricia and know how to better read opposing defenses and thus how to attack them better. Good responsible players take it and learn to play better

Just at the point of the start of the RB value and getting paid part and as a person who loves to think like a GM because Im a fan of a team and I care about success most I will give my outlook. Firstly it is a very unfortunate predicament currently for runningbacks in the league because of the rookie contracts now and the lifespan of the position in general being shorter than other positions with the amount collisions they have to sustain while needing explosive athletecism. The real problem with paying them starts with the salary cap and comparative value/importance to other positions. Runningbacks are very valuable in the job they bring to an offense undoubtedly yes, pass protection help, carrying the football in the ground game, screen game, and hot reads is extremely valuable as a role to an offense and very necessary but the problem is that there is a salary cap and every other offensive position is still more impactful because the running game as a system relies more on blocking than a runner even though runners can be a cherry on top of a nice run game. You need someone to carry the ball but that person needs people to block 11 people all trying to stop him. It really sucks for runningbacks and thats why if I was a player in HS or CFB I would only play runningback as a last resort to keep playing football. It would be nice if the salary cap or rookie deals could change in a way for it to make sense for teams to pay those guys what they deserve with the job they have to do but right now its just the unfortunate reality of making the best overall football team possible. Everything is just against the concept of investing tons of money in runningbacks when you look at resource allocation. Not only is blocking more important but then you have more eggs in more baskets so you have a more sustainable run game as well, rookie deals and the amount of serviceable guys that come out on day 2 and 3, position shelf life. All that just adds up against them for making sense to pay them like other positions. They're an essential role, but the most reliant and replacable role also.
A player going to the owner? All that does is buy you a pink slip and potentially ruin any future chances at a gig with another team if you get the rep as a complainer or guy who breaks the chain of command (particularly if you are just an average player who is almost definitely replaceable). Imagine where you work where there is a super powerful CEO and you decide to write a letter to the board of directors complaining about his leadership. How do you think that is going to work out for you?
Mac Jones hung out at Kraft’s home, & they went to games, together. Why didn’t he compete vs Zappe in 2023 in training Camp? Why did Kraft force Cam to compete vs Mac Jones & he had re-signed him & promised him another yr? Why did they cover up the final report? Mac didn’t beat Cam. Except that it wasn't that. It was Mac deciding to decommit from the scheme publicly on the field after going outside of the organization. Which would have worked great if Zappe hadn't walked in and started moving the ball and winning games with the same scheme. After that, Mac decided to sort-of go through the motions.
