SWEET "Unsearched" V Nickel Roll eBay Hunt - Didn't Expect To Find Cool Dates!!

- This roll ended up being a really cool and fun hunt (HINT: Multiple older coins)! I unboxed a roll of Liberty Head / V Nickels that I bought on eBay for $30 and am thoroughly happy with the results. There was a good variety of dates and it was fun to look back at the series since I hadn't in a while. I also got a Whitman folder from my collection that I matched the coins up with. Normally you get complete junk but there was definitely a fun variety of coins with this one!

I actually found a 1883 without cents V nickel a couple weeks ago while working the cash register in McDonald’s. It looked like a VG that had been polished. Still an awesome find.
Fun hunt!
Thanks FD!
That 2nd 1908 was in way better condition than the first one.
Pro Tip: Vinegar works miracles on nickels.
Also, to the guys saying "its not an unsearched roll" ... Its coming from a major dealer, they have these in massive quantities and don't have the time to look through them all. They sort by condition, anything in higher grades gets set aside or key dates, everything else goes in the bin and goes through the machine to be counted and rolled. Its about as random as it gets with buying a roll of V nickels. An actual contemporary unsearched roll would go for a lot more than $30.
I think this is a good viewpoint... obviously not a contemporary roll but even at the coin shop I work at they often sell (more often before I worked there) unsearched rolls... I know since I found some $20-$40 wheat pennies in a bag they sold me. So it can definitely happen.
Hi TT! I appreciate your enthusiasm!!
Hey, thanks!
If your name was Tristan you could call yourself TTT for Tristan ' s Treasure Town. Christian, I'm from Washington state and I have grocery stores, restaurants and stores in your family's area so I walk to the bank myself sometimes. So at the grocery store I found proofs, old coins, wheat pennies, and in one roll from the cashier I got a buffalo nickel.
Honestly, I don't see nickel especially v nicely rolls, so that roll was pretty good despite people in the comments. Amazing hunt v nickels!
Haha yeah I had a fun hunt for sure!
Dude, you got taken. That was a put together roll of lousy coins all in the same condition. Hope you gave the seller a negative review.
I expected a lot worse so to be truthful I had a fun hunt. Wanted to see what was out there but I get it from your perspective (would get crushed if I sold back to a wholesale dealer). Probably better than the average roll out there.
@@TreasureTownCoins Oh okay man, as long as you knew they'd all be in that condition. I thought it was sold as an "unsearched roll" and then I looked at what you got and it's pretty apparent someone put all the same condition coin in there. Ebay's mystery coin lots screw a lot of people over that buy into the hyped up trickery of the greedy. Just hate seeing anyone getting worked over by ebay.
@ For sure! And good to educate people watching the video who might not have as experienced of a perspective. Thanks for the comment!
Not too bad in terms of date variety, but 100% searched.. Id definitely leave negative feedback or message the seller if they claimed its unsearched.
Likely searched! But I was honestly happy with it.. better than I expected.
You paid 30 bucks!!! You got taken bad!!!
What exactly does unsearched mean with coin sleeves? They clearly weren’t in that sleeve since early 1900s. Thanks
The coins were advertised as not being searched - wasn't a contemporary roll.
for my 14th birthday a few years ago i went to a coin shop and got some v nickels, mostly 1900s/1910s but i did get one 1899 and one 1890 both in really bad shape, it was on the way home when i saw my 1912 had a D mint mark, best birthday eva! really really cool finds btw :)
Great to find 1883 date ... as well as the 1899 and 1891 coins. Fun video!
Was an awesome hunt!
Nikadate 86 $20
No Nikatade $45
Cool lot with a few VF or fine coins nice
That would be pretty sweet! Thanks! Was happy with the results.
i have 5 european cents
Great video! It was a lot of fun to watch and I'd definitely enjoy more like it!
Awesome! I'm going to release a similar one with Buffalo Nickels soon so look out for that (probably in about a month and a half).
@@TreasureTownCoins I'd say the experience and excitement was worth the $30. It's not all about the material value, at least to me that's not why I collect coins.
For sure! The hunt and video aspect was super fun for me.
I Remember This Store That Sold Army Stuff Was Selling Liberty Head Nickels For A Dollar .Just For The Hell Of It I Asked If He Had A 1913 And He Actually Looked For It Not Knowing How Much It Was Worth .But He Didn’t Have It Which I Expected But Fun Seeing Him Look For One !!
Haha that's funny!
HI! ENJOYED THE VIDEO! CAN YOU TELL ME WHERE YOU BOUGHT UNSESRCHED COINS? PLEASE
These were from Pinehurst.
This coin got me in to coin collecting. My fire damaged 1903. It is fully black with a few metal nubs but is otherwise uncirculated and has been in my family for awhile
That's awesome! Fun to hear stories like that.
Nice hunt man !!
The 1883 is extremely common. The Key Dates are: 1885, 1886 and 1912-S. Semi-Keys: 1894 and 1912- D.
Cool video. V Nickels are sweet. Found one metal detecting once but never found one CRHing.
Thanks! I'm still on the hunt for one in either category.
1886
Thanks!
Nice assortment of year. Not sure if it's worth $30, but very good vid nonetheless.
Thanks! Was happy with the results.. unlikely to be worth over $30 (a lot less to dealers) but expected worse.
I really enjoyed watching this hunt. It looked like 1882 to me? Looking forward to the Nickadate reveal!
They didn't make V nickels in 1882.
Thanks! Will look forward to it as well.. probably will release in January once I get back home and can make more vids.
So.....someone please explain why a coin that's been chemically treated so as to reveal a date is totally worthless. It's surely not as valuable as a coin in pristine condition, but if one has the choice between having a rare date that's been chemically exposed, and no coin of that date at all, it's a no-brainer.
My opinion completely! I'm surprised at this disparity there.
Looked like 1886 to me which is semi key
I did a 1912-S from a 100 lot which was super cool
Sweet!!
Nice little hunt. It looks like 1882 to me.
Thanks!
Very nice
This is how coin shops get rid of their junk! “Unsearched “? Give me a break! There is zero collector interest
in worn out condition even in semi key dates. Using Nickle Date May satisfy your curiosity but it reduces value to zero.
T t. We're did you get the nick a date do the sell them at local coin shop I don't need a whole bottle only have 5 no date coins
The nickel is 1888 I love the video.
Thanks!
I'm definitely seeing 1886!!
I'm hoping to get 2 to 4 rolls of "unsearched wheat cents" for a Christmas present for my Daughter, any recommendations??
Have a GREAT Day!!!
That's awesome! Not sure on the unsearched wheaties... they're generally picked through. These were from Pinehurst coins and while probably picked through the hunt was fun.
@@TreasureTownCoins I'm wanting to have fun at Christmas with my Daughter, so if they're picked through it'd be ok, as long as it's not to bad!!
i think the mystery coin is 1886!
Funny I live in Pinehurst
nice video. you took a risk buying this unsearched roll.
For sure! Thanks Jorge!
The coin roll was brand new. Not gonna be an unsearched roll lol
True!
I have 20 pic off this
I don't mean to be mean but "treasure town" doesn't match the monotone lecture voice and blank facial expressions, also don't use nic a date
Looks like 1888 to me *FS
Thanks for the input FS!
V nickles not rolled back then . They where dropped into a bag . Somebody rolled that sorry
I think so! But it was advertised as random.. was happy overall with the hunt.
86 👍 cool vid
Thanks for the help!
1886
Would be pretty sweet
