2022 World Food Day Celebrations in Eastern Province

The event was held on Saturday, 15th October 2022 under the global theme: “Leave No One Behind; better production, Better Nutrition, Better Environment and Better Life”. The Event was characterized by exhibits from various stakeholders who included the Ministry of Agriculture Provincial Office, Katopola Farmers Training Institute, Msekera Research Institute, some ago-seed companies, agriculture cooperatives and NGOs including the German International Development Cooperation (GIZ) who supported the event. The Provincial Permanent Secretary for Eastern province was the guest of honour who toured the different exhibit stands for stakeholders and in his keynote speech he emphasized the need to recognize the hard work that small scale farmer endure to ensure that there is food production. He also acknowledged all other players in the Food value chain who were making it possible to create food availability to the population in Eastern Province. The PS also called on all stakeholders to continue working toward the realization of a zero hunger Eastern Province.
