Thanks John! There will be one more run on the 30th, and after that, it seems it will all be done for sadly. Myself and many railfans are holding onto our hope, but i'm prepared for the disappointment of the line getting ripped up of course. Not only will the line likely be abandoned for good from New Sarum to Delhi, but it seems all trackage south of the ex CP Port Burwell Sub bridge in Tilsonburg will be done for too, as the abandonment of the Cayuga forces abandonment of that spur because the bridge is out of service
I really like your footage of the trestle crossing. I have been by there by road and I had thought that it is a difficult spot to get decent views of it. Anyone know the story of the caboose seen at 11:19 ?? Also, at that same caboose spot, the gravel road left of the caboose looks so straight and level I thought that it may have previously been a rr right of way.
Thank you! It was a bit tough to get there, i had to walk through quite a few thorns, but not too bad if you are careful. The caboose i believe is an old TH&B caboose, i think it might be privately owned, but i am not quite sure, your eyes are correct! The path you see to the left of it, is the old CASO (Canada Southern Railway) right of way, that ran from Detroit, through Southern Ontario, all the way to Niagara falls and to Buffalo, it was once a very busy mainline, and there used to be a diamond here between the two lines!
You gots him working at Future Transfer, ethanol business is dead nowadays for the plant in Alymer killing business for that line, not much business at Courtland either I wonder when the train runs next?
Yeah it's a sham, no revenue on this line really anymore. The next train will run next Thursday, and then the last one will a week later on the 30th. After that they have to try to find a new operator, but i am 99% that won't happen and they will then proceed to the abandonment process. The rails will likely grow rusty in that time
@@Trainsbigandsmall From what i hear the arrive in Tilsonburg around noon, and i believe they arrive St Thomas around 9;30 to 10;00 in the morning from what i hear. The next runs, they will only be going as far as Tilsonburg or maybe a little beyond to pick up the lumber flat as an empty.
@@thebrantfordrailfan Strangely enough, OSR has been posting photos of their Tillsonburg trestle on Facebook. I wonder if they have any plans for that.
It had a good run. At least it will be retained to at least New Sarum for switching/headroom. But we will be losing around 30 miles of track all the way to Delhi
Good job tracking and filming OSR on its final Cayuga Run.👍

Heading off into the murk with the whistle, er horn, fitting. Another abandonment.
Thanks for noticing! I actually intended to create that sorta atmosphere with both the bridge shot, and the ending shot :)

Imagine how many more trucks are going to be tearing up our roads now. OSR and CN are losing quite a few customers by doing this.
Yeah true, the roads weren't meant to take this kind of abuse, plus it's a traffic and safety hazard. We need less trucks, more trains

11:59 that’s the entrance to St Thomas elevated park
Indeed, i think in that shot is where the Yarmouth diamond was

Well that line never made much money for Trillium before OSR
