It is the second time we carve ZORO out of wood. but this time, we used 1 meter Block of wood to make the statue.

This is what happens when you don't have CIS white men hogging all the tools. Look, a female is making the art.
This is amazing and it show case lots of ancient Vietnamese wood craft that was used traditionally in furniture and birdcages. It's so cool to see some younger generations do it with modern themes and characters to keep the art tradition alive.

I'm always amazed by how close they cut to the final shape with the chainsaws before getting into the detailing
With enough practice and experience, anyone should be able to do that.
@@paullow3377 I'd just be paranoid and anxious everytime. Cutting even a bit too much could ruin the block of material 😵💫

Ask any of the modern artists, who sell their works for a fortune, to make one of these sculptures and I assure you, they won't be able to make anything even near as good! These famous artists shouldn't be even called artists!

what is the species of wood being carved/sculpted? i tried to google search the most likely species but couldn't find anything definitive
It's mahogany. You can find the detail on his website

@@lerbyn Only big-leaf mahogany. There are plenty of other types of mahogany, and some common, cheaper alternatives that look just like it (Utile, sapele)
