first music video, used a older friends Black magic Ursa , instead of using my a6000 at the time. didn't know how to change setting let alone shoot, only had 18 min worth of 24fps footage I could shoot cause I didn't bring any extra storage, it was in the snow and we didn't bring the screw to put it in the steady cam so I handheld all the shots, didn't ask for enough money and ended paying double out my pocket for the crazy low amount I asked for.
I have plenty more too, all but 1 were music videos too lol
Oh mann haha, one time I had to shoot 1080 ipb because i forgot my memory card and only had a 64GB on me HAHA

It honestly means so much to hear these stories from filmmakers I look up to! Especially when I’m going through what I hope will be the worst right now.
My current horror story. I agreed to shoot my sister’s wedding for free… as I was also a bridesmaid… and had never shot a wedding before in my life. (Looking at it now, that was my first mistake) But it meant a lot and I really really was excited to do it. Long story short, the bridal party was late to the church, I had to pass my equipment off to my angel boyfriends who agreed to help me out with filming what I couldn’t. But as soon as we got to the church for the ceremony, I had no time to set up my gear, and my boyfriend had no idea how to do it. Turns out, he didn’t get ANY footage of the actual ceremony. No vows, no ring, no kiss. Nothing. I’m still in the process of trying to edit this “wedding” video together without the actual wedding and trying to think of a way to break the news to my own sister. 😭
Thank you so much for sharing your stories! I can’t wait to get past this phase of stupid embarrassing mistakes. But we all gotta go through it to be great, right? 😅🙃
