    The area next to the rock face could make something cool that could focus on the aboveground/below ground aspect, so something like a underground jazz club, or smuggler base to go with that storyline. It just seems like a cool hidden away place

    A nice idea would be to add overhead lines to the tram and also you can build a nice tunnel where the tram tracks go into so you can connect them with the main railway. Finally, you can build a depot In your Lego city to store your trains and put them on display.

    I really like this European style city. The stairs do look a bit long though. I think a more realistic approach is to add some intermediate levels in order to break a fall or have a rest. But anyway keep up the good work 👍

      I second the stair break. Maybe make a small park on the rock halfway up the stairs and make them double back?

    • @tobiaslunte6992
      @tobiaslunte6992 Рік тому +5

      Absolutely. I would also have the new stair case snake back and forth once, so it starts and ends next to / above the train tracks. That's closer to how it would be build in a real city as it reduced the distance someone crossing the tracks would need to walk at the top section and would at the same time add a bit of variety.

    • @malinf6654
      @malinf6654 Рік тому +4

      I agree with you, if you look at it in a psychological way. The stairs won’t feel too long and daunting if you make a couple of landings.
      Now days when you calculate where to put the landings you usually put them at eye-level of an average tall person.
      Probably not doable in your city but anyway, wanted to give you the information.

    I think you should add the lighthouse further to the right, maybe right in front of that new rock layout you built. Being a Michigander whose seen many lighthouses, I have found that most lighthouses are usually set apart from town a little bit, and I think placing your lighthouse outside the town would make it seem more natural than if it is right next to buildings and trains.
    Anyway, so glad to have the weekly updates back! I missed them for sure! Keep up the good work!

    The X crossing of the railroad track could possibly lead into an abandoned track that enters an abandoned tunnel and the building next to the track could possibly be a former station or signalling house. The X crossing would be there because the railroad corporation might've wanted to use that track for future railroad lines which of course didn't succeed. Other details related to the abandonment of this railway line could also be added this way.

    The coastline for your city should wrap around along with your proposed tramline. This would allow for a grand beach along the coast and to develop a pier-like structure. It would also give some more space for the water area to breathe a bit. The lighthouse should be on a peninsular to prevent disruption to the city from it, or it could be further out on a rock structure like the needles at the Isle of Wight. It might also be worthwhile to upscale the scale of the mountain so that it has larger trees so that it doesn't feel out of place.

    Something about the two staircases to the upper platform going in the same direction almost looks off to me. I feel as if they should both point in towards the train tunnels so you are not forced to walk near the tracks to go up the stairs.
    Could be cool to integrate the new stairs more with the rock face by having them turn halfway and zig zag down rather than being a straight shot.

Little suggestion on the stone staircase, normally in cities these types of long stairwells have platforms every 10-20 steps or so to give a break to the users, it might allow you to play with more interesting shapes and even add features to these platforms such as benches, plants, etc.

    Why not make the lighthouse on a rock in the sea with water all around and a pedestrian bridge between the lighthouse and the coast? Like the Kermorvan lighthouse in France. Maybe with some backwash.
    And maybe a small natural island in the corner to allow the sea to get in the corner and surround the lighthouse.
    Otherwise, like last time, here is my list of ideas for some inspiration:
    - a forest with a camp or some cabins, maybe a birch forest to make some other kind of trees
    - a city park with different kind of tree (japanese cherry tree, birch tree, etc.)
    - a lowered section in front of the village (or in the corner) with more natural seaside, like a beach in a cove, some reef or a old creaky wooden dock
    - an evolving module with different festivals all around the year: erntedankfest, summer music festival, weihnachtsmarkt, etc.

    I think the idea of the two tracks crossing there, could actually be a really good idea! As for your planning issues with such an idea, You could make it curve after the track crossing towards the road, and then have a dual road rail tunnel - Which is actually a very common practice in European countries. I think it'd fit right in, and add a nice amount of detail to the area.

    Have you considered having a beach around the corner? It would be good for the trams as they’d be linking the train station and the beach and would be a bit of a tourist attraction themselves. It could like a bit like Tenby in Wales or various Cornish towns which have a beach in front of a steep cliff and loads of small houses and B&Bs.

    In that open space by the new rock face you could add a valley, a stream going through it, and you could have the train going on a cliff on one of the mountains there. Then, you could also make a secret hide out for the mafia story in one of the mountains, like in a cave. You could also make a little park, like a grass park with some trees and a small hill. That would add some variety to the small parks/plazas that you have made, and more green.

    I think the rail-rail-crossing would fit in much better in a shunting area like a harbour or near industry. Actually that might be an interesting route for you to think of. Since lego is easily modular and have easy programming tools you could make the trainlines more active by having them pick up coal or lumber and deliver it. This could even be done mechanically so no programming needed. And when a train have delivered its cargo on the opposite side the -- for instance black bricks used for coal -- could be transported back to the origin station via a conveyor belt below the model.
    Thinking further, this could even be used to move cars and minifigures

    Love the idea with the building built into the rockface. Also: yes, please bring back the tram 🤩

    Run the tram along the front of the dock, then climb it up onto the upper town section, that would look really cool and give it some purpose.

    I swear, you do vegetation and detail better than any builder I've seen.
