  • Saturday 1st June 2024 saw BR Class 52 No.D1015 'Western Champion' on its old stomping ground, as it headed down to the West Country with a Pathfinder Railtours trip from Tame Bridge Parkway to Paignton and back, in connection with the English Riviera Airshow taking place over Paignton during the weekend. The Wizzo would be joined by BR Class 50 No.50007 'Hercules', acting as tail gunner and support, with both locos temporarily bearing the names and numbers of scrapped classmates on one side, these being D1011 'Thunderer' and 50034 'Furious', respectively.
Getting back into her stride, following a stop in Challow Loop, we catch Western Champion sounding very much like an old fighter plane herself, as she barrels down the Great Western Main Line, passing the site of Ashbury Crossing on Stainswick Lane, just outside the village of Shrivenham. Hard to beat a bit of Maybach Music on a Saturday morning!
Filmed on a Panasonic HC-X1500 with an Audio-Technica BP4025 microphone.
