Important Notice
(Although I often talk about health and safety in my videos, please make sure you do your own research and take the relevant precautions to ensure that you are protecting your health. I am not responsible for anyone using resin and not taking the correct safety precautions. Resin is a chemical and as such should always be treated with respect and the manufacturers safety advice taken.
I really like the Aluminum powder and the Marble powder. I paint ceramics and can get a similar look to the Aluminum powder. I think it looks just like pewter. I just started trying resin about six months ago. I can't tell you just how important it is when you tell people to use protection against the resin and fumes. I also developed an allergy to resin after a couple of months. Of course I didn't pay much attention to using gloves and a respirator. I've never been allergic to anything before. Last month I had a terrible reaction and my entire face got a "chemical peel". It burned and was very itchy and uncomfortable as you know. My boyfriend suggested u get a new hobby, but I'm not easily deterred. I just sent for a respirator and gloves from Amazon and they should arrive tomorrow. I am so looking forward to crafting again. I love your videos. You are so personable and funny as well as informative. I have subscribed and if finances allow, I will become a member the beginning of March. I just want to say thank you for all your tutorials, tips, and tricks.
Take care
Charlene
Love, love! ❤️. Always try to have all of your materials available in the US because we love your stuff and want to support your channel!
They all stunning! After seeing the aluminium one, I wonder if you could aquire copper or bronze powder somewhere, and maybe use patina on it along with the polish...Sorry, this was very inspiring to watch! 🙂
@@SteveMcDonaldArtsandCrafts I missed that you mentioned them, I hope you find a source!
I love the marble affect it’s lush and the metal effect will look great for statues etc
Now you've given me more stuff to buy! I love them all, but the aluminum powder is my favorite!
Hello nice experiment and nice outcome for moulds. Nice shiny results. Thanks for sharing ♥️
Those look great. I already have so many ideas of what I could do with them.
Surprisingly stunning. I love them
Super cool Steve👍🏻
Good to give other crafters ideas going forward. I live in the UK and have been working with resins for 30 years. You can get other metallic powders including bronze, copper and brass. I quick tip for you with coating the inside of an enclosed mould. Instead of brushing it inside, pour the powder from the bag into the mould. Give the mould a few light taps, the pour the excess powder back into the bag. This ensures the powder will get into hidden nooks and crannies. After you have wire wooled the metallic versions, if you want to create some depth, you can brush a layer of an oil based paint onto the surface. When totally dry, wire wool again. The dark paint will be left in the crevices. The great reason for doing it the way you showed, is that is more cost effective. Some people mix huge amounts of powder into the resin, which is not necessary. Any way, have subscribed to your channel. Thanks. 😊
Thank you!!! 🙂🤩🥳
Thank you!
They look really good! Aluminium especially 🥰
Can you try doing the aluminum as a 'straight pour' without a mold? I'm curious as to whether I could use it on a tabletop and how much sanding would be involved to get a finish as gorgeous as the molded pieces. Thanks!
Great Video!!! Thank you!
Fabulous!!!
The marble and slate ones are very underwhelming but the aluminum and the way it polished up is beautiful. Thank you for doing these so I can see what I want to buy and what I don’t without spending money experimenting.
Omg I just watched the jewellery video, clicked the link for the resin and then saw these and thought I'll wait for Steve to demonstrate these! The link only goes to the 200g tubs though, not the 100g packet powders.
@@SteveMcDonaldArtsandCrafts arh that explains it. Thanks Steve I'm putting them in my basket 🙂
These turned out great!! Love the shine you can get with the steel wool. Patiently waiting for your next video by watching other videos you've made!
Thank you so much for showing us this!
I Love the Aluminum, I am a old school person, Bronze will be Amazing! I need to look at pe resin!! Do the silicone molds hold up as well using PE as Epoxy? Happy your videos came into my suggestions!! Thanks for all you do!
Àntony@i also UK.i have just discovered resin art.to your knowledge do any of the evening classes do this
Thanks so much. Loving these.
Yeah House Of bouquets thats my Floristname from Newcastle in Australia enjoy your coffee.
Wish we could buy these powders for shipment to the U.S.A. I tried but couldn't get it to complete a purchase.
I love these! Can you use Alluminite Clear Casting Resin with this?
I absolutely love the aluminium one!!! This caught my eye because last month I just bought goddess and guy, and what they call fat lady! I'm working with polymer clay, wood, and found items( just starting out, making miniatures), and I went to your show to see what to get, and bless you!, you're out already! Can you suggest what items to put together for a successful first time resiner? I have nothing to start with!
Got to try this resin
Hi Steve two years later and. I never did get any of the powder. Any idea where I can get some now (not too expensive Asim disabled and can't work, I'm also now old as just turned 65 lol) hope to hear from you hugs X Ann x
Would these powders work fine with epoxy resin?
So...cold casting? I've been doing this for over 25 years.
Can we get these powders from you in Australia? If so where? and if not when?
So many different types of resin. Do you have a video on all the different types of resin and what the uses are?? I just know (what I thought up be ) JUST STRAIGHT UP RESIN. LOL. Recently heard of UV RESIN AND NOW POLYURETHANE RESIN.
So what would happen if you mixed a mica powder with the marble powder instead of using them separately? Just curious.
Although you have the powders listed under US the link is in Uk pounds. Did I miss something?
I tried three times to go to your three powders link under USA links and it would not link up for some reason it said could not link so maybe you could tell me what else I could do?
Can you do this on epoxy resin?
7:30 - Hey buddy, watch the fun bags.
Nice one Steve, i'm new to all this and i love your vids, even though you're from an enemy clan ;+} Subbed.
I dont like the finish of this resin. I prefer epoxy or jesmonite
Not that impressed with the marble or slate, but that aluminium powder is incredible!
Very effective, but I don't make resin so it looks like stone.
I know resin is quite toxic and I’m sure you have no problem with all of the toxic powders that you’re using as well- but isn’t it also like seriously just a possibility to paint or spray paint the resin piece once it’s done? I do are two and I have lots of metallic paints that ones put on with the right topcoat look identical to real metal. So I guess I’m just confused as to what the logic is of using all these highly toxic materials and chemicals that are extremely expensive instead of just using paint which is cheaper… 🤷🏽♀️
Please tell people they need to be wearing a mask when working with real metal. They can inhale it and get sick. Otherwise, great video!
Isn’t aluminum a carcinogenic? Us real ‘godesses’ are struggling to find a good ALUMINUM FREE deodorant
You'd wear a dust mask when using it and not wear the item you make with it.. perfectly safe.
nope not interested
@@SteveMcDonaldArtsandCrafts just means I am not interested in trying it aand to me it just looks bland...to others it may do something for them ,,,,just not me , but I wish you well
@@utubbabe1234 why comment at all? Just move on mate while the rest of us enjoy! #getalife
Finally! A way to make resin look like metal! Mica powders just never really did it for me before. I had no idea aluminum was sold as a powder.
Yes. I often use Aluminum, Copper, and Brass powders. Give them a try. The effect is awesome. ❤
Aluminum powder mixed with iron oxide powder makes thermite.
@@tstuff Over 3000 degrees fahrenheit is needed to start the exothermic reaction I think it's safe enough for jewellery...you're past worrying about that if your necklace has reached that temperature whilst you're wearing it
@@crustyoldman11 I wasn't talking about actually making thermite to use. Only that aluminum comes in a powder form and can be used to make thermite if someone chooses.
This comment makes me wonder if someone could wind up on a list if they bought a ton of aluminum powder.
Love, love! ❤️. Always try to have all of your materials available in the US because we love your stuff and want to support your channel!
The effects you could create with shining the aluminum in specific sections is exciting. Worn looks, antique looks, sleek looks. Resin which looks like metal. Nice stuff.
I already thought they were beautiful and then you polished the aluminium with the steel wool and oh my, oh my. Do you think the aluminium powder would work with UV resin?
**For those in the US, please read!**
I've looked into it and the price to ship to the US is basically the same as the price of the powders themselves. Powders equate to about $40, including shipping is almost $80.
This is not meant to discourage or encourage anyone; this is just an FYI.
That's crazy
You can find them online cheaper I just looked it up. Found aluminum powder for 16 bucks just have to look
It's the same for us in the uk . I have seen things like then looked its been in the US and the shipping is so much more
these types of powders have been around for years. People have been using them in acrylics. If you want to use it just buy some nail powders that do the same thing and are basically exactly the same as they r selling
@0 0 u can search for chrome or metallic nail powders. U can find them with all sorts of shines and undertones and even multicolored 3 or 4 tone metals
Good vid. I work for a small company making hand cast resin chess sets and have been using marble and aluminum powder for years. Its great stuff!! We also use copper powder as the opposing side for the aluminum. You can get some great finishes on them with a bit of polishing compound.
All I could think of while watching you was "boy is he messy!" Then you mention to mix everything well. As powder is falling off the top of the mixing cup as you pour. 🤣😂🤣😂
@@SteveMcDonaldArtsandCrafts Art least you embrace your it all. 🤣😂🤣😂
I got titanium, bronze, pewter, copper, and silver in a box of 20 from middle coast
A helpful hint from someone who learned the hard way. Please stop using heat or flames to remove bubbles from your resin! You can damage your molds irreparably. Instead, make yourself a spray bottle of rubbing alcohol. Spritz the surface of your project and, instantly the bubbles disappear! Rubbing alcohol also makes the BEST cleaner for your workspace and any spillage.
Wonderful tip, thankyou!!! 👏🏻🙌🏻
I would like to see US dollar amount on the web site so I know what it will cost. But love what you are doing
It’s fairly easy to google it. That’s what i do, only for Canadian funds
Siri or Alexa will tell you
wow just wow.
Itsnot Steve's web site its resincolour. So iam sure if you sent them an email or something thay would get bk to you
This is beautiful, thanks Steve. I'm really new to resin and what would really help me out is if you could say how much resin you mix up on each video you make. I realise it would vary but would give us a rough idea when trying to copy your beautiful work? Many thanks
You can calculate it.
Easy way to calculate it is to fill you mold with water and pour it out into a measuring cup. You'll need to wait for your mold to dry after but if you keep each mold in a bag with a label (put some clear tape over the labels to keep them safe) you only have to do it once. Always add a tiny bit of extra resin in case of spills and keep a spare simple mold off to the side to use up any extra resin. Simple.
Looks awesome! Any source for these powders in the USA? Thanks
I found some on Etsy here in the states 😁
Wow this is an interesting way to resin. Thank You for sharing!
Really surprised that these techniques are new to crafting as they've been ubiquitous in the prop replica/cosplay world for about 5 years.
Hi Steve, I don’t see what is different about this? Maybe I missed something, and I will watch the video again.
Hi!! I’m not sure how to contact you directly but I’ve been having issues trying to purchase the kit and PU resin from your shop. It keeps saying that shipping can’t be calculated at this time.. is it because I’m in Canada? Do you ship to Canada? Thanks for your help
The effect with aluminium is amazing !🤩🤩
Great. I also have the same molds for naked women and made different decorations
Why is this the next big thing…..?? I’m still wondering, nothing that I can’t do with my normal pigments and resin ink ,easy
Ideal process for chess sets…
@SteveMacDonaldArts and Crafts..... Am I allowed to recreate this for my store? This is my first business and I don't want to get in trouble! LOL!!!
Omg “aloominium”! I love UK! Love how messy his studio is! And his dirty artist shirt! Real deal!! Don’t trust these bishes who have the fake perf studios!! So glad i found this !!
So awesome vid Steve! You are a great source of info! I too am just getting comfy with resin, but I exclusively use Art Resin for a variety of reasons first and foremost because I can use safely without making any fumes. Can this be used in my resin choice? Yes it's a long cure time but it is what it is 🤔 this looks like stuff I need! Love the shine! But will it work in my medium?
I love these! and it's a great idea for my neighbor! I had been thinking of making him dominoes until i realized the things that can go wrong with resin dominoes (i don't play dominoes so i didn't have a clue) but he also burns incense all the time so i think he will appreciate these!!
I LOVE the aluminum goddess
Please be very careful with the aluminum powder…. Aluminum is VERY flammable in powder form.
is the aluminium powder really made from aluminium or just the powder effect
Everyone use mask when playing with aluminium powder ^^
That goddess statue isnt the only thing this guy was rubbing hard after the camera was off.
Hi. I love your videos. Do you plan on restocking the powders you used on this video?
I was just looking as those body molds and then this video popped up 🤣🤣😅😅
oh no. i just got into resin. even more stuff i need 😱
Would the metal powder work with UV resin?
Cool video Bro, you've got a new subscriber 👍👍
I love the aluminum! I'm going to have to get some and try it out.
These powders aren’t new
@@LockStoppageSandwich Facts! I’ve used them years ago. This is definitely not honest.
They’re new to me! I’m happy to see this done…
@@danballard7405 omg, trolls are pukey 🤢 😂
@@Heartwing37 Silly you’re trolling. I’m experienced. Why gaslight?
Hi Steve can you add color to the aluminum powder???
Love these! Would love to get them in Australia 🇦🇺
Hmm Has anyone tried these powders with cement art ?
Very neat 🥰
The CrafsMan did this like over a year ago...
thanks for making this video i love your work
Wow! They look amazing ❤️❤️
Sorry. The powers do nothing for me.
Please do an in put swirl with the marble
Great info , thanks so much ❤👍
I just love how you say aluminum 😘
Love them going to try thank you
Wow, soo cool, but I live in the U.S. 🤔
So cold casting is the next bi thing?
The aluminum one is amazing
How can I order these powders?
ala minion. YOU crack me up!
Marble one is my fav!❤
That is not the next best thing.
Awesome!!! My son wants me to make him some custom D&D dice. Would this resin work for that and is it available in the states?
Gorgeous!
