I see some of you want to know more about how this is patched. It's not really anything special. Osc1 is set to pulse, osc2 and 3 are saw. The modulator (main lfo) is modulating the pulse width of osc1. The extra lfo is modulating the pitch of osc2 and 3 (plugged into the pitch input for osc2, as that also modulates osc3). But the signal from that lfo was hard to attenuate down to a reasonable level, so I attenuated the output of the first attenuator to get that very careful vibrato. It's really more like oscillator drift than vibrato. Other than that there's no more patch cables. The sequencer is repeatedly playing a simple D1-A1-D2 chord, and the long release time on the amp envelope makes it a drone. Playing the different tones is just adjusting the fine tune of osc2 and 3. I actually had to add a little resonnance to remove a bit of the base, as it would get very warbly on speakers of... lesser frequency output capabilities. ;) The stereo delay is set to ping pong just to add more width, and the output of the Matriarch is also run through a Neunaber reverb pedal. So it's really simple. I'm sure you can easily do it for yourself. Ask away if you want to know more. Good luck, and make noise. :)
This is pure ambient bliss... the Moog Matriarch really shines here. It feels like you’re floating in isolation, but in a good way... calming, yet a bit eerie. Simple, but incredibly effective. A beautiful piece of work!
Beautiful, indeed. What strikes me is the number of performancse and performers regularly praised by the media that pale, or are even amateurish not to say ridiculous, by comparison with pieces of music like this one (I found many more and I continue to stumble across outstanding others), not so seldom with an amazingly low number of views... Only a tiny number of Tangerine Dream albums are praiseworthy, especially when in regards to the huge number they released, and nearly all albums Klaus Schulze released from the mid-80s on are disapointing not to say deadly boring. So, congratulations!
I've listened to this countless times. It's absolutely haunting. The pace of the progression is inspirational. Thank you for making and sharing this. I will have to try this performance on my Matriarch.
I've listened to a great deal of ambient/dark ambient drones over the years, but this is the first time I've ever been brought to the edge of tears, experienced chills with the hair standing up on the back of my neck. Thank you for a very emotively effective piece. If I were going to compare it to anything else, it would be Tangerine Dream's "Mysterious Semblance at the Strand of Nightmares. BTW, I acquired a Matriarch back in April and am totally absorbed in it.
Oh yes sublime. I have been saving (not very successfully) for the Matriarch. It is definitely my next purchase just don't know when and listening to this has assured me that it will be worth the wait. Loved the manual tuning.
Thank you for your kind words. And thank you for your videos on your channel. I find them both soothing and inspiring. And yes, the Matriarch is an amazing instrument. I can get so lost in it when I sit down with it. It's my Enterprise and my Nautilus, and it's my deserted island synth for sure.
This is beautiful! Definitely the best drone I've heard from it. Mine is arriving later this week. I am so excited, have been wanting it so bad since it was released!
Thanks for sharing! I'm less experienced making music, so I am inspired by the variety of styles demonstrated on the Matriarch. I always joke that everyone else's Matriarch sounds better than mine! 🤪 I appreciate the simplicity and elegance of this piece! The oscillator drift and intentional detuning build tension and draw me in. I keep turning up the volume to get more immersed in the drone. It's deeply satisfying when the dissonance resolves back to the original tone. Nicely done!
Heavy. Sounds great. I have to mention--when I saw your link and YT name, I read it as, "SingingCountry." Could not resist--had to listen to country music on the Matriarch. Thanks for sharing.
This is so well done! Thanks for posting this and thanks for sharing the patch info. I've been getting by with a minilogue XD but definitely have my eye on the Matriarch. Thanks again!
Beautiful drone, very deep. Love the matriarch. Never was that much into drone or Moog. But the mattriach changed all that for me. It's my relaxing machine.
Another listen at this, and it's giving me Stand Still Stay Silent vibes now; special mention goes to the poem you wrote below the video, which somehow refers to the lost souls that thrive with the awakened monsters in the silent lands beyond.
let me take back my previous post. I listened to this song another 30 times :) and i love it. not good for during my work, but awesome in the evening only doing one thing at the time, listening to this beautiful song
Hello SingingCircuitry, What a great sound, and I want to make some noise that might annoy the neighbours. Believe it or not, I got here via a circuit loop that started out researching Tamburas. So you may ask yourself, well, how did I get here? I don't know too much about music, but I know what I like (ha, ha). Basically, I love the sound of repeating sounds, harmonics mixing, sounds resounding, diverging and looping round and around. Basically, the type of sound that has loads of harmonic frequencies; hence that is why I researched Tamburas. Unfortunately it is difficult to source a Tambura in the UK. Any way, a very long story cut short... I don't know much about music but I do know what I like... in this case, I also like the analogue sound that Moog do seem to perfect, so I began to research Synthesisers as well. Bearing in mind I am a complete novice about these things, and I might seem a silly sausage for asking, but here is my question anyway: If I was to get a Matriarch... how does it connect to external speakers? Any advice will be greatly appreciated. The only equipment that I do have is an imac with an m1 chip, and that's about it, so I am an open book. If you reply, thank you. If not, no sweat, I will carry on researching. Kind Regards, theKingOfSiamIam
My Matriarch Dark is the most gratifying synth I own. My other 2 are he Pro 3 SE and the Subsequent 37. Both wonderful, but the Matriarch is something very special indeed.
The Matriarch is the first true epic synth Moog produced since the model D. i like the track you played and recorded very much. What's the connection with the lyrics? Is this an existing song or movie?
Love it! Just got my Matriarch last week... so amazing! I'm looking to make drones and sounds *exactly* like this. Any hints/suggestions how you made this?
i love it. but for me, the know twitches are sometimes too fast or too chaotic. It takes so much attention and feels sad. Nothing wrong with sad music, but I think you can give it more space to be more patient.

fekkin awesome.
Thank you very much for sharing your experience. You really mastered it.
Thanks for the patch notes!

It’s like waking up to a post apocalyptic radioactive wasteland. Haunting yet beautiful if there’s anything beautiful about that.
Best ambient track I’ve heard
This performance brings me one step closer to wanting a Matriarch. Really good atmosphere you created here.
These knobs are connected directly to my heart. One of the best musical performances I've ever heard.
Lovely how you play the pitches with the oscs frequency knobs. It almost sounds like a choir. Very well done!
Wow, I was smiling 30 seconds into this video. So simple and yet so... powerful. The Matriarch is truly awe-inspiring. Nice job.
This is absolutely beautiful.
Oooh, this is amazing. Love what you did there with the Matriach. Quite intense, yet also calming.
I've listened to this countless times. It's absolutely haunting. The pace of the progression is inspirational. Thank you for making and sharing this. I will have to try this performance on my Matriarch.
Loved it. The tension from a detune is always a marvellous thing.
She howls !!! This is probably my favorite synth that I own !!
I've listened to a great deal of ambient/dark ambient drones over the years, but this is the first time I've ever been brought to the edge of tears, experienced chills

The Moog oscillator's saw wave has such a vocal quality with those filters. Like waileing in a desert.
Intense yet relaxed...exceptional creation of vast time and space. Brilliant!

Thank you! Happy to hear you'll get yours after all this time. That .is. exciting. :) It's a magnificent beast for sure.
Did you receive it? What do you think about it?
I will receive mine next week, can’t wait!
Very Abul Mogard. Love it - great piece!
So wonderful dark atmosphere growing. The Matriarch is really a great synth like was never made since a long time.
for me the first Drone, that is worth to be heard from the beginning to the end. Matriarch is a wonderful instrument.
Thank you for your kind words. :)
Sounds bloody brilliant mate!

This ambience is awesomely dark and mesmerizing!
super clever way to perform with it, love this
Heavy. Sounds great. I have to mention--when I saw your link and YT name, I read it as, "SingingCountry." Could not resist--had to listen to country music on the Matriarch. Thanks for sharing.
XD Yes, I would like to have a listen to that too.
Amazing. If for some reason you Make more of these, put them in some sort of patch collection and I will happily buy them from you:)
This is so well done! Thanks for posting this and thanks for sharing the patch info. I've been getting by with a minilogue XD but definitely have my eye on the Matriarch. Thanks again!
One of the best thing i've heard coming from a Matriarch; mesmerising. Well done!
Thank you! :)
3 oscillators, a drone played off of a single note, and lots of delay…..amazing!
The soundtrack of the edge of a black hole... wonderful 👏
I have listened to it at least 20 times.... is always beautiful
Wow man, What a trip! So nice and deep...
great one :) thank you for the patching hints!
this is excellent, tremendous depth of feel.

So much tension with only one note lol. That is insane.
Great dark piece. Fits the title perfectly.

Epic knob twiddling my friend 👍👍👍
Nice track man , gr8 atmosphere
Exactly what I love. Super duper!
Gorgeous piece.
That is a fantastic piece. WAY WAY WAY too short! I was totally into it and then it ended... "always leave them wanting more".
A fine example of the wonders of the Matriarch! Can’t quite believe I haven’t found your channel before. 🙏🏻🌟🤍
My Matriarch Dark is the most gratifying synth I own. My other 2 are he Pro 3 SE and the Subsequent 37. Both wonderful, but the Matriarch is something very special indeed.
I agree. I have the Subsequent 37 too, but the Matriarch has a special place in my heart. :)
can't go wrong with a nice analog synth and a good reverb pedal ;)

Thank you for your kind words. :) I've added a pinned comment about the patching details. :)
Woah, is that really only this synth?
Love it! Just got my Matriarch last week... so amazing! I'm looking to make drones and sounds *exactly* like this. Any hints/suggestions how you made this?
Yes, the Matriarch is amazing. :) I made a pinned comment about the details of the patching.

Sick! 😷💉
wow, i love it, can you explain how did you patch it ? i would like to try that with mine.
Thank you. :) I've tried to explain it in a pinned comment on this video. It's not very complicated, really. Good luck. :)
Wish I can figure out how to play this
I have put patch information in a pinned comment, if you would like to try yourself. Good luck. :)
Whoa

Imagine this with a beat... 🤦🏻♂️
