WOW! Karl, thank you for this presentation. I've lived in Chase Knolls Garden Apartments since 1974 and never heard any of this! A group of us tenants worked with City Council to save this property from being razed in 2000 for condos. We had heard how Joe Chase deeded the super block of his dairy farm to Notre Dame west of Sunnyslope for a school and subdivided his land from Riverside to Magnolia for new housing post WWII after he'd build Chase Knolls for returning veterans. Yes, there were rolling hills throughout this area and some still exist on this property. Wish my mom were still alive as she'd be absolutely fascinated with your research and historical presentation. It's truly tragic how his life and legacy has been treated - a true example of cultural erasure.
I and my 3 sisters attended Millikan Jr High -- ( then principal Meldrim Burrill) - I graduated 1971. Really enjoyed your presentation - who knew?! Well done!
Well researched and enlightening. As the father of three kids who went to Hal B Wallis Middle School, including you, I suggest making a 1-2 minute promo for renaming the school. Then get signatures supporting the name change.

@@donnavondenbosch4021 Brent transferred from Occidental to Stanford for undergraduate and then got his PhD from the University of Florida. I am not sure when he graduated. He became licensed in California in 1981 and practiced in San Francisco.
