Yeah that's mad. It's obvious from how he bottled it when he made it to the edge that first time and how awkward he was once he got on his board, that he's not a competent surfer. In what world was that a good idea to do try that - surely somewhere in his thought process after that first attempt he was thinking Rocks + Big surf = Potential serious injury or death.

Just last week i witnessed a young surfer doing a similar thing. This guy here was TOTALLY out of his depth. His paddling showed an inexperienced surfer. Has youtube given people an inflated view of their capabilities ? People laughing at him in the video was slightly disturbing. What if he'd suffered serious injury or even worse? How would your laughter be explained? I spent decades jumping off rocks , mostly successfully .

it was funny, until we watched him paddle. no one was laughing anymore , not even on video bcuz only then did anyone realize he really never surfed before.

WTH???? How many times? HAAHAAHAA!!!! So cleaned he squeaks - in pain from all the rock cuts.
Nothing worse than that helpless feeling of scudding backwards over reef with no way of stopping other than slamming your flesh into the rock shelf.
