Because Rick and Morty is more relevant then south park which hasn't been for a very long time. And being Rick and Morty has been signed on to do multiple season(that contract was announced this year). They are here too stay for a very long time.

I feel like family Guy didn’t rebel against South Park because Seth knows how crafty Matt and Trey are at making fun of people
At a panel in 2007, Seth straight up said they won’t ever mock South Park because of that.
Seth going up against Trey and Matt would be like a high school football star athlete trying to talk smack to Tom Brady.
Yea Trey and Matt are very very experienced in talking sht and criticizing things.
I feel Seth can do that but not on Trey and Matt’s level, so it’s a damn good idea to just avoid that fight altogether.
Take it on the chin and respect that when South Park makes fun of you, you’re not alone because they go after everyone.
Also it's a bad look to punch down, especially on your direct competition. What I don't get is how Matt and Trey or any South Park fan can criticize anything for being low brow or lazy. They've written their share of repugnantz disgusting stuff, and phoned it in as well.
Seth is also smart enough to know that his show is actually very low effort writing
The way South Park explained how Family Guy writes jokes involving the idea balls and manatees is one of the harshest disses I ever seen.
Basically saying anyone can do a Family Guy episode.
Yeah it's pretty harsh to manatees to compare them to family guy writers

Them: you know... We were at Sea World one time...
Just to be clear, Trey and Matt don't hate gags as such, they just hate gags that are unrelated to the narrative or any character arc, like Family Guy's cutaway gags.
@Emperor of Homophobia yeah it was a joke to serious mess that is related to the stories.

@@madfox1006 this is how I feel too. Family guy is just a bunch of set ups for cutaway gags and that's fine with me, it's like an adhd-fueled sketch comedy. Family Guy is capable of making me laugh and can even highlight something true from time to time, but they’re brutally right. The show gets by on easy quick hits and even if it achieves meme status it’s still pretty thin. This is why South Park is great though, two guys that still live in touch controlling almost everything about the show. Things can more naturally maintain a vision that way.
they lost touch a couple years ago, ruined stans dad and made all jokes safe and miqueltoast saved one generic one here and there were the plot is just "current thing but absurd conspiracy with weird thing in it added" their extreme jokes are all gone and theyre now high on their farst after spending too long with californian rich people

@Aftermath Agreed, I remember there was an episode where Meg finally tells her entire family how they treat her like crap and tells them how awful they are to her. I really hate Lois, she's cheated on Peter with Meg's boyfriend and girlfriend, Peter's son, and I think some random guy. It bothered me when they were like "oh crap you're right we do treat you like shit" but by the end of the episode they just go back to the way they were and continue to pick on Meg. It's not really funny it's just sad
the gags are exactly why i love family guy

because they know what it actually takes to make a show good and worth enjoying. Fair play! 👏🏾
"family guy could be great, they have smart people working there"
We call it American Dad
When most of this came out, i believe American Dad hadnt actually started
In retrospect, I think American Dad is the better show. It seems they took what worked for Family Guy and removed what didn’t. No excessive use of cutaway gags, new characters are introduced (that actually add to the show) and every character has some depth and can grow in an episode, like the one episode where Stan believes that helping people make them weaker until he gets a drug addiction, and by the end of the episode he admits he needed help.
Umm american dad is fuckin garbage and is the same shit

“One thing we try to avoid is gags”
Kenny: Oh fucking do you now?
at least kenny’s deaths are somewhat entertaining compared to family guy’s cutaways.
The main word is "try"
He explains himself immediately after, saying family guy’s gags are totally random, irrelevant to the story, and are there basically just to be there. The few of south parks gags are relevant to the story
plus they actually hated the kenny gags, but knew the fans loved them, espiecally in the early years
There’s a difference between a running joke and a gag. What they mean is with family guy very rarely does a character have any actual growth or meaningful development it always ends with some random hack joke at the end.
It's so weird that they literally accurately portrayed the initial family guy concept art in that thumbnail. Because family guy doesn't animate its own stuff. I feel for trey and Matt. Because all of the family guy animation does and still does get outsourced to China or taiwan for animation.
It's understandable that these guys are mad. But the soul of their work it really shows through. It's a labour of love, and even 12 years after a clip. I can still think of a South Park clip that comes up occasionally. I can't really think of a single family guy clip. It's as forgettable as big bang theory. American dad though. Solid up until season 5.
I still think American dad is solid it has its ups and downs but I'll watch an American dad episode anyday over a family guy one

I feel the same way Matt Stone does. Family Guy could be hilarious. The writers can be talented, it has randomly great song sequences, and the voice acting is really good on it. But those gags just go on for so long and never have anything to do with the main plot.
does it really matter tho? the gags are the jokes dude
It matters because jokes with no build-up or continuity are lazy and lame, exactly what Trey said in the minutes of the video.
If I wanted some random jokes in no order, I'd watch a stand-up, not a cartoon.
I thought that those gags/flashbacks were so irrelevant on purpose. But many of them were pretty funny. I am sure Seth and the rest knew exactly how they used gags in a unique way. I understand not like it but Jesus people are too much in the comments haha relax
@@user-ji5fm5pk6w exactly comedy has such a broad spectrum that’s what I like about comedy especially shows just because another comedy cartoon doesn’t like what the other does doesn’t mean people have to feud about it. It CAN be funny sometimes, but if you throw ten jokes every minute, at least 1 or 2 are bound to land.
The fact that American Dad exists just proves Family Guy could be done better. It doesn't need that gag crap to be good. The characters and plots are so iconic too and I agree it's a shame they choose that writing style. But in the end it is preference and people don't seem to care so it is what it is.
that american dad episode about peanut butter and dyslexia was really good. it was the only one i watched as a kid but it was a really interesting conspiracy.
I think a great example is the American Dad episode Rabbit Ears. The plot was crazy as hell
I think what they're saying is true about The Simpsons not liking Family Guy, even though those 2 shows worked together and went as far as crossing over with each other, because I remember specifically one of The Simpsons voice actors (the guy who voices Flanders and Mr. Burns) not being present in the cross over at all because according to him "his schedule was too busy" or he "was not in the country".
It was one of those 2 reasons I just can't remember which. But I'm not buying it, considering as many years as they spent on making that special, you can't tell me that he couldn't fit it into his schedule ever. And another thing is the actors can always record voices from anywhere in the world and send it to their shows. I think he was just using that as an excuse to cover up the real reason which is he didn't want to be a part of it because it had to do with Family Guy.
The Simpsons staff had almost nothing to do with that episode except for the voice actors and maybe the animator. In terms of writing, it's very obvious it was made just to appeal to Family Guy's audience. The cutaway humor, the gross-out, the tedious buildup that takes up way too much runtime before the actual plot kicks in, the chicken fight. None of it feels like it belongs in the Simpsons.
Family Guy is funny, but in a more simple and calm way, while South Park is far more creative with their works.
Overall, South Park is top dog.

I doubt Seth would have had the balls to criticize South Park creators. One thing I'll give him credit is for not having a big delusional ego and knowing his limits. He knows Family Guy is mediocre. What bothers me is that Seth does have talent, take American Dad for example, that's a very good, well rounded show. He should have been focusing more on that and less on Family guy.

i loved the manatee episode, i think it was a genius roast of family guy. i just think that, just because south park has a specific writing style , doesn’t mean that family guy has to be the same. i think it’s ok to have dumb humor and smart humor, plot oriented humor and random gags. both work in different ways and for different shows. family often isn’t plot based humor , but family guy is just a show you can turn on in the middle of an episode, and laugh your ass off at the utter randomness. i personally do like south park more, but i have to admit, i think family guy usually makes me laugh more. south park is smart first and funny second. it all depends on your mood and preference. i like both for different reasons.
Whenever I want to rewatch South Park, I have a craving to watch an episode in its entirety. Like, with "Bloody Mary," I can't just stop with Randy asking "What seems to be the officer, problem?" I need to rewatch the whole episode, because the entire episode is satisfying. With Family Guy, I can just rewatch a gag and be done. I can watch Peter start work at the Pawtucket Brewery, get drunk and naked, and then I can laugh. But I have no desire to rewatch that entire episode, because I was just compelled by their gag, not their story.
i feel the exact same way
@Ryan. Hey ! I thought this was S’America! Many opinions, cultures, colors, ideas and senses of humor can live together in the same box!! Whaddya ya gonna do? You wanna go?
“Daddy is very sick”
The thing is, it's not like South Park was perfect and every joke landed, but there is always something in the episode as a whole that drives it home. With Family Guy, none of the episodes is really that good as a whole except the ones that try serialization, those are good, but the rest is one joke after another unrelated joke, so if one or two of those don't land, the whole experience is a drag. Whenever you come back to an old episode of South Park it is still useful as a time capsule of whatever was happening back then, it doesn't feel dated, it's like reading an old newspaper, there is a big pile of information there and there were important details captured in the episode about what the society was doing about it at the time. On the other hand, With Family Guy's old episodes it's just a random celebrity I haven't heard of in ten years.
Yeah family guy is excellent for some great laughs. Try watching some try not to laugh challenges with family guy, they’re great.

@Bob Smith lol sure. Pussy. Whine.
@Bob Smith huh? I just hear a cooch talking
@Bob Smith oh welp. Theres the people of the internet.
When they made the joke on South Park, family guy wasn't that bad,but now it is literally the exact same as the joke
Yah it's sad when satire becomes the truth.
Reality has a tendency to turn South Park jokes into reality.
Like how Simpson's joke of Donald Trump as president came to be
@@bleachedtiedye That wasn't exactly a groundbreaking premonition, Trump ran for president in 2000 too. Wasn't even remotely a successful campaign, but it did happen.
Yeah!
Family Guy rocketed to popularity with easily accessible stories and characters while the other shows mentioned kind of kick the dirt in envy and say "Why don't they like our show more?" with their more niche content. Regardless, I love all the animated comedy shows mentioned here.
If the King of the Hill crew said that, then it's right!
I like how when these guys won a fkn Oscar, they included a little message in the episode about Randy's world record poop that would show periodically (whenever Randy was taking a sh*t) and it read: "OSCAR AWARD WINNING SERIES" lmaoo
It won an Emmy not an Oscar
What episode?
@@tungsten-726 "More Crap", the episode where Randy takes the biggest shit in the world lmao
YOU THINK THAT'S BAAAAD?
REMEMBER THE TIME I SANG LA CUCARACHA FOR PAUL MCCARTNEY?
Seth McFarlane is way more talented than all South Park people combined
lmao cope
u cant just straight up lie
lol at the Simpsons writers who drove that franchise into the ground thinking that they are somehow above Family Guy writers.
There has never been a point in time where the Simpsons was better than Family Guy. Family Guy was driven into the ground even worse.
I love how every adult animated show (The Simpsons, King of the Hill, etc.) hates Family Guy.
Garrick Groover with good reasons show is trash after seeing 15+ seasons of greatness
Cause MacFarlane steals their jokes as well as episodes
Actually, Mike Judge is friends with them and gave them advice when starting out, so, no..... King of The Hill doesn't hate family guy.
@@MrParkerman6 "you are doing gods work by ripping on Family Guy" staff of KOTH.
the simpsons and family guy did a crossover episode wtf are you talking about.... shut up
South Park is, by far, the greatest animated series of all-time. King of the Hill is the most underrated animated series of all-time.
King of the Hill sucks!!!!!!!!
@Hey Yo or a different opinion
I cant stand King of the Hill or Beavis and Butthead
King of the Hill is highly underrated
Venture bros
2:13 I adore the Justin Timberlake analogy
They're so self-aware. I can't hate Family Guy. It has some brilliant moments.
"we rip on catholic, mormons, jews and they were like, well..because...you know, these people kill you!"
amen.
Yeah like Jack Rubenstein.
But Islam is a religion of peace.
@@JohnDoe-kd2oq All religions are supposed to be about peace but unfortunately, there are wars, rapes etc....
@@bigoudi07 Apparently you're unfamiliar with sarcasm, stupid.
@@JohnDoe-kd2oq And? Do you really think you're the one who's right in this discussion? Even if you made your shit joke and I didn't understand it at first, I still said some smart things so you're the asshole in the story.
I love the banter between the animators for different shows. It’s cool how the people from The Simpsons and King of the Hill are cool with each other.
Would be interesting to get all of them in like a discord server lol
This level of honesty is needed in the World right now
The king of the hill people talking to them surprises me cause even in the lost recent seasons family still makes king of the hill jokes.
The fact that the executives didn't realize Muhammad was already in an episode speaks a lot.
It got under the radar at the time and maybe it predated that the whole Danish Cartoon thing.
It would speak more if the executives at Comedy Central WATCHED South Park.
The real secret is that Muhammed actually was in the episode. He stood in the background in the intro
do they still show him in the episode, or have they censored it now that they're aware of it?
I think the Super Friends episode has now been removed from platforms such as iTunes etc. very annoying. Especially as he was just a guy in orange robes and looked totally normal. He just seemed like a normal Indian/Pakistani dude and honestly when I first saw it the whole Muhammed thing remained a mystery. Funny how time changes things :P
I wasn’t able to enjoy family guy in any way until South Park did the manatee episode and identified exactly what my problem with family guy was.
Sure bud
I know. It’s like the time I didn’t realise every joke started With ‘it’s like the time I…’
Personally as someone who was able to identify their simple formula early, I just appreciate it. It’s a shame you can’t but hey ho. Haters gonna hate I guess.
@@BlackNomad1
" it's like the time i...."
Wasn't the problem.
It was the random non sequiturs jammed together that lacked any relevance to the plot or even the conversation most of the time.
The cut scenes could've been made 10 seasons prior to there use and nobody would've known.
Punchlines with no setup, lazy time fillers with only the outward appearance of a joke.
I had a problem with it because i thought i was the only one that had problem with it.
Sure, i guess for you it was just a repetitive phrase, (congratulations on picking up on that "formula"), apparently i had a more substantive issue with it.
@@johnnyreb1209 see that’s why I like FG. Because it does do random shit that isn’t relevant. But it’s all just jokes and I love both shows. If they both did the same thing then one would probably not exist.
@@BlackNomad1
I agree, thats why until i saw the manatee episode and i realized a lot of people were bothered by it, i was able let it go and just watch family guy for what it was
I watched two episodes of Family Guy followed by two episodes of South Park and there's no comparison. South Park is 10x better. Always feel something when I watch South Park, Family Guy is just a good show for if you're completely smashed on booze
I think you can tell when Seth wrote a episode vs when a random wrote a FG episode.
Cartoon Wars came out when I was in college and 15 years later it's still my favourite episodes. The final ending was absolute gold. Trey Parker is an absolute brilliant comedian.
So true, they are actually trolling in this video as well, they convinced everyone they have a cartoon rivalry involving every adult cartoon hating family guy lollll
I can't stop hearing Randy Marsh.
And I cant stop hearing Gerald Broflovski.
Literally only family guy actually makes me laugh. Where South Park and Simpsons don’t. These are snobs. They’ll phase out where I imagine family guy will stay around much longer.
South Park get away with a lot where as Family Guy gets censored to hell! ( Pot baggy )One aspect about Seth Mcfarlane that has to chap serious south perk ass is that he can go onto any show anytime and do all of the voices! The boys didn't exactly cover themselves in glory here.
Family Guy has too much filler. Stuff that has nothing to do with anything...
It's a collection of stupid one liners smothered multiple layers of shallow, pointless irony
Like when they had footage of that country singer Conway just playing for a full minute! So dumb
Nice gto
TexasGTO. That's what makes it funny. I love the side comedy things like when they reference things then jump to a sheep getting sheered and he's getting off on it.
Cody Brooks. YOU'RE dumb. They did that to let people know who Conway is. And as a fan of Conway Twitty, I loved the episodes with him especially the one where he sang a full song.
Moses, how do you kill a giant statue Abraham Lincoln?
Ummm.....A giant statue John Wilkes Booth?
One of my favorite episodes, too.
Great things that Trey and Matt found and made happen.
WAAAAAAAAAA
I DESIRE...........MACARONI PICTURES....
AND POPCORN NECKLACES.
Back when the networks weren't pussy and showed Muhammad. Now it's hard to watch that episode anywhere online
@@b.entranceperium like Bane said on Harley Quinn:
POLITICAL CORRECTNESS IS KILLING THE COMEDY!
@@b.entranceperium ya it's strange that there was so much controversy about Muhammad being on south park when they had already done it like 10 years earlier.
The gag about roadrunner and Wyle coyote is funny though.
Even Seth hates Family Guy now and actively sabotages it now
