      Amélie, by "medium to strong music background," do you mean a medium to strong music theory background or a medium to strong flute background? I have the first, not so much the secand, but I'm not an absolute beginner; I played in band for a couple years and then practiced a bit on my own in high school. Now, 30+ years later, I'm going back to basics and working on developing my tone, etc., but I'm having a lot of problems with arthritis in my hands, which I didn't have as a teenager. What are the prerequisites for the intermediate class?

    • @gitasong
      @gitasong 2 роки тому +2

      I just watched the videos. Those are basically the exact exercises I'm using as warmups right now, although I've just started the Taffanel and have only been doing the first octave plus of the tone exercises.

    • @flutechannel
      @flutechannel  2 роки тому +3

      medium to strong music theory background is what I meant. By your description you should be fine. As long as your sigh-reading and able to play the first 2 octaves you should be good to try the intermediate. Happy practicing gita.

    Thank you for these! I hadn't played since my abusive ex pawned my concert flute for cigarette money, 20 years ago. I picked up a cheap replacement last year and have found much of it is like riding a bike, but I could definitely use these lessons to refresh more.

    As a Clarinet player, I would like to ask, is there some sort of "register key" that you push down to get to the high notes or does it have to do with air?

    • @flutechannel
      @flutechannel  2 роки тому +5

      It's a combo of air and a variation on a core fingering.

    HI! I was wondering if you could help me with some clarification on my flute. I am a beginner but have played for quite some time so I know the flute quite well. Yesterday, when I was warming up, my note D sounded slightly sharp ( I could tell immediately ) - not due to my playing. The day before yesterday, all the notes on the flute sounded fine and working well. I tried again today, and there is still the same problem. I'm panicking. Is my flute broken? I don't understand why this is happening - I've always taken good care of it.
