    The smoke isn't visible behind the fan because it's diluted with clean air and moving too fast. The first filters shown won't have enough surface area to clean all the smoke out of the air. It's still in the air, which is why you still smelled it. HEPA level filters are the only way to go, but then you trade noise for efficiency.

    • @TonyAlbus
      @TonyAlbus  2 роки тому

      Yes agree HEPA is teh best, the rest is nice to delude a bit.

    Remember my dad soldering from when I was a little kid (around 6-7 years old) until now (i'm approaching 50) without such a thing and still going strong... So I can use the space it takes for something more important :)

    A fair representation of each model Tony. Nice video.
    Good grief aren't they noisy!
    The smaller ones are fine for all benchtop work in my opinion. The larger, and more noisy ones - well, I ask myself, would I want to sit at my bench and solder wearing ear defenders? - perhaps not!
    In my earlier days, and prior to getting my RS components dedicated extractor, I used a Dyson handheld vacuum - HEPA rated filters etc... 😛

    Hi Tony. Really enjoyed your reviews and findings. I could do with upgrading my little carbon fume extractor as it’s not great. As usual I seem to like the white one the best which is also the most expensive. I did look at their site but they don’t offer a postage option to the UK. Not that I could afford one 🤑. Cheers Graham

    This is really interesting I would like to buy a fume extractor. I do have an industrial air filter in my workshop it helps with my asthma and helps keeps the dust down. I also have the bench top fan model and it’s pretty rubbish but blows it away from the face.

    • @TonyAlbus
      @TonyAlbus  2 роки тому +1

      Hi Chris, that is a good one.. yes the air we breath is important. In our house, its sort of modern high efficient energy, we have a closed, balanced (heat regenerating)ventilations system. meaning the house is closed.. the system blows in fresh air (in winter pre-heated by the warm outgoing air with membrame in between) and takes out the same amount, trough separated pipes and filters.. i make sure i replace the filters every 2 to 3 months.. it helps indeed.

    Hey super review! Ik ga denk ik voor die grote van eleshop! Ik zag alleen wat recenties dat de buis lastig aan te sluiten is is dat ook echt of komt het gewoon goed als je voorzichtig bent? Ik twijfel tussen de quick variant omdat dat een bekende naam is alleen is de airflow speed veel lager en de filters veel duurder.

    • @TonyAlbus
      @TonyAlbus  6 місяців тому +1

      Thanks! er staat mij niets bij dat de aansluitng lastig was, maar het is even geleden. de grote was wel het meest effectief en stiller.

    Whoa, these big ones look like something straight out of a dungeon :)
    I'll be sticking with the one I made out of an EBM Papst centrifugal fan. No filters in it, it's just there to keeps the fumes from going up to my nose. The air flow mixes the fumes with the surrounding air, preventing the concentration from rising to harmful levels.
    Little Aoyue... plain and simple.
    I like the look of the little Eleshop, but the noise is a killer. A true vacuum cleaner! It really sucks. This thing could use some dampening and speed adjustment.
    The big Aoyue looks nice and professional, meant for two workstations (e.g. soldering station and BGA rework station), not that noisy as it's down there, and well thought out with those filter cartridges. Centering the filter is a different thing, meh.
    I love the speed control on the big Eleshop. Nice rubber hood too, easy to clean if it gets covered with these little specks of solder. Still a single-station unit only, and takes up a lot of floor space. I wonder if it could be put somewhere farther away and connected with a ventilation system going to the workbench... Something similar to what I did in the typecasting lab at the Book Art Museum, where three operational lead type casting machines have fume extraction pipes going down to their melting pots, and I can shut the unused ones off.
    Kudos for using that good old Weller iron :)
    Oh, and I just noticed that you've got a huge-ass metal pipe right back there. I wonder what that is... A concentric air/exhaust pipe for a gas heater?
