Hi Ben/Tris, the scenery on the first day was absolutely stunning. Enjoyed being taken along with you. Thank you for the time and effort you put in to showing us your travels.
Love the video just found your channel and subscribed. I wish I had spots like this to hike and backpack on your so lucky.
Thanks! It’s not a bad area, gets really busy in the summer though, no chance of any peace and quiet.
Hope Trish had the heated jacket on 👍🏴
It was a couple of weeks ago Kevin, I didn't have the heated vest at the time, otherwise I would've took it.......and Tris would've claimed it! 👍
There I was thinking the 2 of you would be beseiged by screaming fans🤣😂🤣.
Fair play to both of you, you have to be pretty hardy to overnight up a height in the UK in winter.
Great footage of the Lakes and the deer, lovely to see.
I'm still hammocking 1 night a week and it was down to 4c last week but a joy to be out.
Take care mate and thanks.
I'm gonna have to start carrying a pen for autographs 😂. It was worth getting out for the scenery Paul, but these long nights in a tent aren't much fun to be fair; plays havoc with your back having to crawl around everywhere. The weather is brutal over here at the moment, the worst for years. 4c is pretty cold, hope you had an under quilt for the hammock! Atb mate 👍
Thanks for that, took me back to the early 70's when I camped at Angle Tarn with the Air Training Corps. We did Old Man Of Coniston, Helvellyn and Scafell Pike, Great fun.
Thanks Paul, I bet the packs were heavy in those days with the old canvas tents!
@@Adventure-Outdoors Yep! All very old school, no fleece and thermals in those days. 😊
Just came across your channel, really enjoyed watching that ...thanks for taking us along and i look forward to watching your other videos.Well done.
Hahaha that was precisely what I saw first on the chocolate bar - colon.
Looked a tad chilly out there :)
Great video as always.
Stunning scenery.
Looked fun hope you made it safely home from the pub too. Have fun stay safe.
We walked half or your walk last November. Great to see it again. Where did you park. We were at Patterdale but I liked your exit route toward High Street /Brothers Water etc. Have followed your stuff for years, appreciate your work
Hi Lee, thanks for watching the channel! We parked at Sykeside campsite, you can leave your car there for 24hrs for £5. Alternatively there is a car park at the top of Hartsop village, it has a donation box for parking but it gets full early on in the day. 👍
I like the look of that tent Ben, plenty of space for you both. I think I'm going to go with the Abisko lite 2 in the new year. Looked a cold camp mate and I hope you paced yourself on that dreaded track upto Angle Tarn 🤪
Aye mate took it easy up the steep stretch. The Abisko Lite 2 will be a good buy for you I reckon. This was a couple of weekends ago, still cold like but it looks brutal at the minute, -8 ambient and -15 windchill up on High Street this week. I'm contemplating a jaunt over there; although it wouldn't take much to change my mind 😂👍
My girlfriend and I are having a debate about where you’re from, I think you sound a bit geordie, she says Yorkshire.
We’re doing a wild camp at angletarn tomorrow.
Nice informative video.
I’m from Sunderland but have lived in York for almost 20 years, so my accent is a bit of both by now I reckon. Good luck for your wild camp, hopefully the weather will be on your side 👍
Another top notch camp and great video Ben 👍🏻 I love winter camping, but there's not much to do after 4pm...! A film or a good book helps I guess. That tent is a Bobby Dazzler - that colour really blends into the landscape. Look forward to the next one, all the best, Paul 🙏🏻
Thanks Paul. A film, a book......or plenty of drink! 😂 Yeah I'm happy with the tent, the extra room was welcome. Cheers mate 👍
Beautiful view 🙂🏔️☀️
Nice report, great scenery. About Chololonely, this brand is the spinn-off of a Dutch program (I am Dutch). They wanted to proof that making slavefree chocolate was possible.
About the tents. A comparison between the Abisko tunnel and Abisko dome??? Greetings from the other side of the North Sea🇳🇱👍
Hi Martin, ah I didn't realise it was a Dutch brand. Good to see a brand taking slavery/bonded labour seriously (I wrote my undergraduate thesis on globalisation and modern forms of slavery). I'll definitely do a review of the tents soon! Cheers 👍
@@Adventure-Outdoors Great! I am looking forward to it. I have got both tents. The tunnel tent I bought second hand, used once (150 euro). For a solo trip (but I haven' t used it yet).
I have the endurance 2, I think I got it from Cotswold outdoors for £385 last year, great tent, so much space.
Bloody hell, I thought I got a bargain! 😂 Yes it's a great tent, a really good balance between weight, pack size and space for 2 people. Cheers mate.
Enjoyed that. How noisy is that tent with the wind?
Hi mate, the outer didn't move much but the inner tent did, it wasn't overly loud though and I only woke up the once. I pitched the tent side on into the wind so it wasn't really pitched correctly so that probably contributed! The spot was too small to get the tent pitched properly into the wind 👍
Lovely. The tent looks decent, did the outer ever touch the inner or was it ok? Love the lakes although I've never wild camped there, which i hope to rectify soon enough. I'm glad you took the time to take in the sunset and the views, too often i see videos where it's they don't really show it and after all, it's kid of why we do it, or a big part of it for me anyway. On a filming note, i think the Gopro quality is great clarity. I'm torn between that and the Insta 360 for my upgrade (xmas gifts to myself). Hope you and Tris have a great xmas if you don't post anything again between now and then. Cheers!
The outer was solid but the inner was moving a fair amount, I pitched it side onto the wind which was a bad idea but the pitch was too small to pitch correctly into the wind. The insta 360 looks good, but the GoPro does a decent job too if you film in 2.7 or 4K, the only downside is that the huge files make editing a pain. Aye happy Christmas mate, drink and be merry and all that good stuff 👍. I think I’ll have another free product review video up soon, owt for nowt! Atb mate.
Good Stuff! I found you by researching the Endurance tent. 2 questions if you don't mind.
1) I'm 6'1" and 225lbs and my girlfriend is 5'11 135lbs. We both use 25in wide pads. Should we opt for the 3 person tent for the extra room?
2) Fjallraven give about 5 more centimeters of inner tent length over similar Hilleberg tents. How do you feel my 6'1" height will fit into the Endurance with me on a 3in thick air pad and a lofty 20F degree bag? Will my toes be hitting the inner tent? I am really really hoping to buy a tent where my toes are not hitting the inner tent. If it comes to it, I may just have to opt for a Hilleberg Kaitum or the Helags.
Thanks in advance and good job on that gear!
Hi mate, I would definetely opt for the three person tent, that should give you plenty of room. I'm 5,10 and Tris is only 5ft so the 2 gives us just enough room. I think the length of the inner is about 7ft so in theory you should be ok assuming that the tent is pitched on perfectly flat ground.
My air pad is 3.5 inches thick and 6ft4 long, 25" wide and the bag I was using in this video is a 23F down bag so similar to your set up and judging by that I think you should fit without hitting the inner. Hope that helps!
Atb best guys.... great positive vid. I'm really trying to get a hilliberg soulu in sand colour (red label) but my god its impossible... any overseas shops or links would help? atb Russ
Thanks Russ. I've just had a look at some of the outdoor stores in Scandinavia and Germany and they don't have any in stock either. There must be a shortage of them, probably due to Christmas. It might be worth emailing one of the UK shops and seeing when they will be getting them back in stock? Good luck with the search mate! ATB 👍
chocolate colon 🤣🤣🤣
Very enjoyable video, thanks 🙂
Cheers! 👍
