  • I've been fooling folks with this card trick for over 30 years & in that time, I've never seen anyone else use it (maybe for good reason as you'll see!) I'm setting this secret free today... but the real secret lies beyond the method...
    What deck am I using? Jerry's Black's!

      Hope you read my post a couple minutes ago. I’m gonna do this tomorrow. I have just been walking into restaurants and bars here in Seattle and doing sidewalks but mostly restaurants and bars. Anyway I’m going mess around with this tomorrow but I’m going to go straight for “now put the cards behind your back” thing, no cut. I’m gonna f$&@‘‘em up hard with this, no prisoners, yeah uh huh, like “now say something”. That’s right , Doug ehhem. Uhhh Conn taught me this!

    I like to pause these "fools everyone" or "magician fooler" videos so I can see for myself. I seriously had zero answers for this other than stuff that wouldn't be in a loaned deck. Super cool

    First off, this is an incredible "magician fooler". I loved your "cardfix" of putting the cards behind your back. That is a tremendous touch! I've used this in the past incorrectly as a throwaway effect however, it never failed to get a great reaction. Later I used it a bit, to move into card effects where no selection is necessary. Kinda like, "let's skip the obvious and move on to more magical card tricks". I usually would follow it with a production of queens and move into Stencel Aces using the MCD aces(queens) gaff. What great memories you brought back! Thank you

    Hi Doug
    Thank you very much. After this video I immediately rushed to my bookshelf, searched for and found "the cardidian" and once again dealt with this book. Just great. I am 65 today and had my big aha experience as a young magician (18) with books by Dai Vernon, Ed Marlo, Harry Lorayne, Karl Fulves and Frank Garcia, among others. Even today, these books are a great inspiration, and yes, I still perform feats directly from these writings.
    Your video channel is really great. We didn't have that in my day. So we were all crazy about English literature, which was very hard to get here in Switzerland.
    So, thank you for your inspirational videos.
    With magical greetings from Switzerland
    André

    I read about this effect several years back, and it is a great trick. Your tutorial was awesome. I have done this by spreading the cards face up and showing that there card as vanished. Something that may work here, is the use of the invisible deck. You ask do you see your card of course they say no, then you show them this other deck, and put the other cards away, and say I turned one card over before we started, and show them one card face down and it's there selected card.🙂🙂🙂🙂👍👍👍

    • @DougConn

      Good addition to the effect ... 👍
      Since the card has apparently vanished from the deck (red), the Brainwave deck (blue) reveals their card (red) ...
      A transposition takes place.

    Brilliant. I feel like a lot of newer magicians focus on intricate sleights or complex gimmicks, and yet here's a super simple solution that's baffling to the spectator. I had NO answers, I was honestly thinking the "don't do this trick" was because it involved something too complex lol

    This is one of my favourite books by Marlo. I have played around with this principle but have always hesitated to use saliva (even pre-pandemic). Of course, at a bar, you can get moisture from a glass, but it doesn't work as well. I have used this technique to vanish a selection using hair/beard wax. You need a tiny amount of wax; it is very easy to apply too much. The benefit here is that you can hide a blob of it in your hair or beard and retrieve it while scratching your face. Martin Nash used to dab Sortkwik behind his ear to help him with false deals, which might also work.

    • @DougConn
      @DougConn  Рік тому +2

      Ooh beard wax! Nice tip! And yes, this book is top tier and still very much relevant

      @@DougConn More recently, I've been using the wonderfully-named Captain Fawcett's Moustache Wax as a substitute for old tricks that used diachylon (lead paste). It is very similar to magician's wax. As I have it in my pocket anyway, it works well for me. I might try lip balm as my daughters always have some and ask me to look after it.

  • @lamario
    @lamario Рік тому

    Do this using the condensation from a bottle, cup of glass of water, no saliva necessary! While they are cutting the deck, move your glass then tap the deck before they replace the pack.

    Mr. Conn, i’m having a hard time making this trick work, like a really hard time finding the card(s) because they won’t stick together properly. I’ve tried many times using different amounts of, you know, saliva, and rubbing it in different places on the card’s back, and i tried with many different decks also but nothing seems to work. Is there somerhing “wrong” with my saliva? 😂 It sounds funny but do you have any specific tips regarding this issue?
    If you did, i would appreciate them greatly. Thank you in advance
