2:55 Lived in Regina my whole life. I can actually answer what the rotting smell is.
Wascana Lake was originally a collection of wetlands before it was cleared and made into an artifical lake during the 1880s. It was thought that the lake could be made into a recreation location, so canoeing and sailing became a popular thing to do there; there was even a rather short-lived period where it was played up into being a great place to go swimming during Thomas Walter Scott's two terms as Premier of Saskatchewan from 1905 to 1916.
This is where the rotten-egg smell comes in. Creating an artificial lake on top of a wet-land biome can be done, but the problem is that these areas are rich with all sorts of bacteria that feeds on micro-organisms living in the water; they also feed on any rotten plants, resulting in the creation of hydrogen sulfide, a gas similar to the pungent smell of rotten eggs.
Wascana Lake is a beautiful place, but because of the build-up of trash and plastics, it's become somewhat polluted. This doesn't help with the smell, and although there are efforts from the Parks and Recreation Department to clean the lake, the funding for large-scale cleaning has been getting smaller and smaller.
I know this isn't exaclty as exciting as a ghost being the cause of the smell, but it's still fascinating to learn.

Was gonna mention that. Having been born and raised in that city, I second all that. Not as exciting as a ghost being the source of the smell, but interesting nevertheless.
On another funny note, a lot of the locals hate the idea of swimming in the lake because of that. Honestly, you would have to drop a few grand for me to hop into that lake again. Though, there are exceptions. I was in a kayaking program one summer when I was a teen, and I remember we used to cow tip each other's kayaks in order to mess around and to cool off on hot summer days. I bet that the kids probably still do that. xD

There is an old monastery in south regina I used to have to do security for and it was hated by every single security guard because of how balls-out haunted it was. Shadow people constantly following you, a very old nun who will ask you for help before disappearing, the large Mary statue that would move to different rooms and floors within minutes, the horrible screaming and crying you would hear coming from the basement whenever you were in a particular area of the monastery.. I know of at least 3 guards who quit on the spot because of something happening to them. Personally I only ever saw the shadow figures and heard the pained cries coming from the basement, but I heard plenty of stories from the old timers who had been working security there for decades. How it isn't a known haunted location is a tad confusing as even the old church members who looked after the place openly spoke about the hauntings. That whole place just has this constant feeling of dread or like you are in danger or something. Last I heard the place got bought by some cultish sounding new age religious group so who knows what goes on there now but that is definitely a place I do not miss.

Hey I just discovered your channel! Thanks UA-cam algorithm! Anyways I figured I would add something you might find interesting.
My grandmother used to work at the government house in Regina in the 70’s or 80’s.(I cannot remember exacly when atm) she was a cleaner and she almost exclusively worked a night shift there. She had many experiences with phenomena. Most of it was pretty typical. Toilets flushing themselves, faucets turning on, lights flickering, footsteps, that sort of thing. But one thing she mentioned stuck out to me. Sometimes she would hear footsteps when she was the only one in the building during her nightly cleaning. And when she would go to investigate, the only thing she would ever see is a pair of legs walking around the corner. She could never make out anything else. At least, that’s what she tells me. It seems she gets a little spooked whenever I bring the subject up.
Anyways, I really enjoyed your video, it was both informative and entertaining. Cheers!

A good friend of mine waitered at Crave's in the old Assiniboine Club when it first opened. There is a story that during renovations, it was discovered that the doors to one of the rooms on the third floor had been plastered over so it looked like there was one less room from the hallway. People have claimed that the figure of a woman was seen in the window of this doorless room. I have another acquaintance who works for the university, which owns Darke Hall. In the 1990s, he was in the basement of Darke Hall, when all the light fixtures over the doors of the rehearsal rooms fell off and hit the floor with a single bang. This probably was because the contractor used screws that were too short to install them and hadn't connected the wires. I've been in all the locations, some of them many times, without seeing anything. A friend from high school owned the coffee shop in the former judge's house. Several of his employees reported some strange things such as baking smells when opening in the morning and the tub stopper moving to the back parking lot at night, but I don't know anyone who saw a visible ghost.

I loved this video! I lived in Regina for 6 years and visited most of the sights on this video in the early 90s. I get "feelings" when dead are around. Its really cool ..but I dont really talk about it. But you are verifying what I have experienced visiting some of these places. I wanted to mention that once in Prince Albert we took in the museum. I stepped in the building and my hairs stood on end. Fear came over me going up the steps like i was chased. As I came down the steps I saw a young boy and a young girl hanging by their necks above the stairs. They were wearing clothes like from late 1800 early 1900s. I blinked them away. I wonder what was going on in this old building way back. I just had an experience at Candle Lake resort last fall. Also 2nd st Medicine Hat Ab. We lived in a severely haunted home as a child. Thanks for your work. I got more stories pm if you are interested. Thx

When I was a kid (early 2000s) we stayed the night at the science centre for beavers. Late at night when we were supposed to be sleeping I saw someone walking across the cat walk above the top floor. Creeped me out, but didn’t think anything of it.
Years later my dad was telling ghost stories and described exactly what I saw and more. He was a troop leader at the time. He and the other adults saw this thing walk across. They asked the staff about it; one staff member got freaked out and went home, the other took them up to investigate.
They sent one of them to go across the cat walk and apparently the people who hung back could see someone walking towards them from the other side, but vanished before the volunteer got to it. The staff told them that someone had fallen to their death when it was the power house, but I haven’t investigated it enough to confirm that.

I used to volunteer in the General, before it went through the renovations, and can say that it's basement is bad for running into people who have passed on. I also owned a house in the "Transition Area" between Vic and College, that is haunted. I suspect it had everything to do with the cyclone ripping through the area in 1912.
