Their lyrics are philosophical and so much more than the generic pretendy misery that many lesser doom bands can't seem to get away from. I think doom at its finest is the most human and empowering of Metal styles in many ways.

I still think they are the best together with Bell Witch, do not think wrong Mournful Congregation, Evoken, Esoteric, all majestic bands. But in those cases I feel the depresison, here it looks to me more like a ceremony.

You definitely would ... the countless nights I spent with a bottle of smirnoff , or some other cheap shit , on one side and a foil in which I would run a huge Heroine Caramel , from time to time , in between dream and lucidity which were most of the time one and the same , all this while spinning records from that era such as Unholy´s " 2nd ring of Power " ( probably my favourite Doom record of all time ) ; Monumentum´s " In absentia Christi " and many other escapism enducing records which weren´t even necessarily Metal ... just full of dark psychedelia and dreamy soundscapes ( think Lustmord or even 80´s The Cure ) .
Svart records from Finland is doing a re-issue (cd and lp) of this very soon with a new mix by the band from the original master tapes. If you want a release with the best sound, then you should probably pick that up. There is a sample song from that online that you can easily find. It certainly ads a lot more separation for the instruments and lot more clarity. I will pick up my copy from them when it releases.
I don't know.. I keep trying to get into this but I can't, it's got this magnificent, almost joyous feel to it. I like doom that's dark, crushing, depressing and void of light. Tyranny style
I might get hated for this but why the hell are all the essential Funeral Doom albums' audio production so absymal? Do they do it on purpose like Black Metal musicians to sound "kvlt" and underground or what? The audio quality is even worse than Thergothon's only album lol

Same tuning as Type O used as well, which makes the tones sound very remincent.
Yeah its reminiscent but I prefer this, it lacks the tacky pastiche that type o has. Both great bands
