I remember when rear entries used to be a very rare 10/10 moment and now almost everyone can pull them off. The level of car setups and driving skills have gone through the roof over the years.
Yeah man i was watching an event at this track from 94 I think, a week or two ago. Very different driving styles but it's still a very complex corner and takes full commitment
@@kakashi99908 I understand what you're saying, and I agree there's skill in it of course, but I'm pretty sure the addition of an angle kit makes it easier to swing the back out wide and still recover from the mad angle.
After watching both rounds I'm not sure if it was mainly the long straight or what exactly was causing so many problems, but I've never seen a D1 or D1 Lights event with that many drivers struggling. Also, this angle makes the entries a lot more impressive looking than what was on the live stream.
Plus the strong wind and the track might be a little dirty cause the struggle I think, or maybe because of some people had new car or some upgrades and still not get used to it.
big entries at tsukuruma are weird af. The outside zone is pretty weird imo since if yyou really get that outside you kinda dont have the speed nor the angle to keep the full turn going. Just weird but loved the entries
I've been drifting tsukuruma in assetto corsa (sim) a bunch lately and can definitely see why so many struggled with that entry. That's a really hard track in general! I can't wait to finish building my first (IRL) drift car, I really hope I can get it finished at least at some point this summer but I've really kinda gone down the rabbit hole with the build 🤦♀️
I’ve always loved the style and commitment from Japanese drifters, also I’ll take every one of those chasers and the green sr powered r32 for my private collection, great vid
I was thinking that too, maybe a combination of the notched front bumpers + no gaurds on the fenders + far from perfect fitment? They look like my RC car hahaa Oh wait like every car has that stance, maybe it really is hella camera angled?
From this angle I can see why theyre struggling, the entry field is narrow but the radius is tight and the corner is wide and goes deep. So only a few centimeters/banana's determines how the rest of the run goes. Each on it's own, not that big a deal, all combined, pretty tough.
Alexi, what's the info on the blue MR2 towards the end? I couldn't find TM Garage anywhere, nor are they listed on the D1 sight. Don't get to see those too often.
This tracks a weird balance. You either need to get entry speed right perfectly to have a solid medium angle run that works. Or throw it in at higher speeds and let the aggresive angle/throttle to scrub the speed for you. Its looks very tricky.
I was gonna say it looks like Cleetus Mcfarlands s13 coupe and the r34 rocking the number 3. Could just be coincidence but seems like he's influencing people in Japan too which is really cool to see.
man, the skill of some of these drivers is amazing. i'd like to see American Formula D drivers go and do THIS kind of track instead of the wide-turn tracks they usually do
Likely to do with regulations as well as the amount of travel/load suspension has when they enter and such high speeds. All leads to more mechanical grip while in drift ect ect. More camber up front gives more tire contact while sideways, which helps for a more control of the car while sideways. I’m no expert that’s mostly just a guess based off of what I’ve seen/heard in the past.
It might be helpful for this type of track, to have enough grip when throwing huge entries like this. Maybe it helps shifting all the grip to the rear wheels and helping quick direction change to the front
@@NumberThirteenPhoto Pretty much on the money. When you turn your front wheels the camber actually changes, an angle kit actually means the wheels can loose a lot of camber when steering hence why drift cars have so much negative camber. At full lock it should end up being around 0 camber and full contact patch. The ride height is mostly to help make some space for all the steering angle and to keep the tire from exploding the fiberglass fender when you hit a bump in drift.
It's because it's high power D1 cars, so running with a front camber will make the wheel flat (no camber) during the turn, so better front grip. The camber is in a sense "cancelled" during the turn. I recommend you checking some articles on it, it's pretty interesting
I think it's mostly the guys who are committing to a backwards entry that have the nose up setup. Could be wrong. This may be to reduce the amount of time they spend transitioning to full squat, should give better response when being on full power to continue the drift. All just guesswork
I remember when rear entries used to be a very rare 10/10 moment and now almost everyone can pull them off.
The level of car setups and driving skills have gone through the roof over the years.
Yeah man i was watching an event at this track from 94 I think, a week or two ago. Very different driving styles but it's still a very complex corner and takes full commitment
its probably because most cars have angle kits on them now, making a rear entry easier to control right?
Setups are mostly just personality it is pretty much just all skill and muscle memory being acquired over the years.
@@kakashi99908 I understand what you're saying, and I agree there's skill in it of course, but I'm pretty sure the addition of an angle kit makes it easier to swing the back out wide and still recover from the mad angle.
Taniguchi explained (to DK) that's the thing these days, get the rear loaded, instead of losing the rear.
that line looks really hard, you have to commit just the perfect amount it looks like
Nah you have to commit way more than that
Every one was struggling to time it in the wet!
99% of people on UA-cam and the there’s me- 1%
It’s not too bad you just have to have enough power to pull through the apex after washing off speed
One of the times that power is an unfortunate necessity 😢
@9:32 kudos to the guy in the SW20 for trying to drift a MR2. Almost got it @10:18
that dude actually RIPS in that thing. Seen him at Nikko once and in some other videos.
Agreed,mr2s are known for being hard af to drift so it makes it that much more impressive
As a sw20 owner I have to give this guy credit for trying. I can drift my mr2 but only in the rain. Too much grip otherwise without a drift break.
I follow a few Japanese dudes who drift SW's. I'm sure I followed the dude in the video too but either they've only posted once or twice.
@@IdiotRace names or links? im interested 👀
Rev Limiter of that 180sx in 1:08 sounded brutal !
feel like it honestly broke up for a bit there, sounded like it recovered to normal after a millisecond tho
sounds like an A10 warthog
Alexi I would love to see a full video on the lot of drift MR2s we’ve seen on your previous videos, seem like a proper hand full
No intro, No talking, just full send it!!!
I love this! Hahaha
the suspension setup that most of these guys are running is giving me squat truck vibes 😂
It's called jacking I think, Drift Crash(?) did a video about their technique and why it works 😎
That's a harsh course! Like it though, interesting to see people trying different techniques to get through
1:10 Truly a "car go brrr" moment. I do like the showmanship of the drivers. Not going that well? Well screw it, just send it. As it should be.
Watching so many s15’s in this video hypes me real hard to see alexi drifting his when it gets done! 🔥🔥🔥🔥

it normally isnt that hard but the line is weird

I could watch this style of video all day long
*Angle !* MR2 was brave ! Thanks Alexi, best days to you 👍
Nice filming as usual, can’t wait for another upload on the main channel.
I love the commentators screamin in the back ground, they make it so fun
Its crazy to see that the Carolina squat was adopted into D1 lmao
Those entries are insane!

Is it just the camera angle or do some of the cars have like the most insane bulldog stance ever? Look at 0:12 or at 0:44, holy moly

that purple drift star 180’s front end is awesome. almost reminds me of a detomaso pantera.
i love how the all the 180s look
I like the different suspension setups these bois have per their particular dorifuto shtoyle

Some biiiiiiiiig boy entries right there :) wow!

most drift engine setups are stock internals with a turbo
