To clarify for the sake of discussion: Nothing in this situation stood out to me as an obvious bug (glitch deaths are almost always rolled back). Patrols do not spawn naturally with 4 members but Pigeon's episode showed that it was possible to find 2 distinct groups of wolves together, and I believe that is what happened here-- only with stranger wolves, not courting dispersals. This is consistent with the way the hex jumped up suddenly from barely claimed to being over 50%-- it marks when the second patrol entered the territory. It's also definitely _unusual_ to have so many attacks from all sides at once, but not outside the realm of acceptable RNG. If you look at the map at 10:40, you can see a number of strong Crevice Lake hexes bordering the hex they were claiming, as well as strong Oxbow hexes near the trio of hexes they started to claim. You can also see some strong Junction Butte hexes near the corner they later claimed (which was already fading), and Junction Butte has by far the smallest territory of the three packs, meaning that no matter where they went to claim territory they would be stealing heavily claimed hexes.
Unless significant evidence emerges to the contrary, I don't consider what happened here likely to be a glitch. Right now it seems like a rare but reasonable situation, more a string of very bad luck than anything else. The challenge system is my major determining factor in questioning these events, but right now I don't consider them eligible to roll back on account of them being a glitch.
no no no
I think we should go on with what happened today. It was interesting and I would wanna see if Casia can make it all alone! It would be a New challenge for you too
As much as I hate wolves dying, this was interesting. I wonder if finding a new mate would make good character development for Cassia?
The way all of the rival packs attacked at once was really odd, like they’re planned it. Poor Cassia, if it’s decided that Tawn’s death is true (which I think it should be to add that extra drama) then at least he went out bravely. The way he turned around and charged back toward the wolves was courageous.
tawn dying sucks really hard, and the fact that all the packs were attacking your territory at once was really odd, but i think tawn’s death should be canon, as other commenters mentioned, they took a risk especially with tawn having a major and minor injury, and not backing down, and death was the outcome
I personally think you shouldn’t roll the save back, it’ll make the series more interesting and challenging (imo)
As horrible as it is, I think Tawn died for real. He made the ultimate sacrifice, going back to give Cassia a chance to escape. I feel like Cassia wouldn't want a new mate, but would eventually need one for the sake of her pups, but that is up to you. I can see her end goal being to end Junction Butte 5F, before moving on to Amethyst Mountain.
Jay I just want you to know how much I appreciate you. You have calmed me down at hard times. I don’t know how to thank you.❤️
Nooooooooo!!! 😭😭I cannot believe that just happened! I was literally in shock. But as devastating as it was, I think it should be counted as canon and not rolled back. It was a risk, and unfortunately, it had a steep cost. That's just my thoughts; this is your series, you do whatever you think is best. :) I haven't been a subscriber for very long, but I just wanna say that I love your videos and you're already one of my favorite content creators. I really appreciate that you keep your videos clean and family friendly, and you're just overall a really awesome person, so thank you!
Last episode was my first time ever submitting names so it's super exciting to see one I suggested get picked! It's Larkspur, for anyone wondering. She seems to be a chaotic baby, refusing to go in the den like that
Edit (spoilers):
My heart is racing, poor Tawn. I kind of anticipated something bad happening to him when I saw how injured he was, but I didn't think it would be this. And that eagle attack was just adding insult to injury.
I don't have much of an opinion on if the difficulty modifiers should be kept, I think they're interesting but I also think they can lessen drama somewhat. I can see pros and cons for either direction
Poor Jay can never get an intro done without a predator attack
fr 😭
With the territory, the new ai has changed some of the pack behaviour where they will spam howl in your hex until it is claimed. I think this is a bug, and I also think the devs are working on fixing it.
Yeah, only players are supposed to claim smart like that! On the other hand I wouldn't mind intentional modification to the system. claim strength barely matters when I'm taking their territory, and it can drop too fast and get claimed if it was below 50% when defending.
@@amandamimic2725 Makes sense. The system is definatly in the players favour, and I agree it should be a little more difficult to claim other packs territory, though it still shouldn't be quite balanced. Sure, it's a little unrealistic, but at the same time the npc's aren't the priority. They aren't the ones playing the game, so it should be a little easier for the player to claim their territory than for the npc's to claim the player's territory, but it should still be very close.
Tawn was leading them away from Cassia, making the ultimate sacrifice so that she could escape, and she couldn't even say a final farewell to him😢
If it was just a bad dream/premonition, I think she would be more cautious and take back her territory more slowly, even if it takes a few days.
If it is decided that it is for real, this would be a really harsh lesson for Cassia. I wonder if she would even leave Slough Creek next year because of it?
My opinion: Sadly, Tawn did lose his life. They took and extreme risk and it ended tragically.
That being said, it is SO frustrating when all the packs decide to start taking territory at the same time. Takes a lot of fun out of the game (for me anyway) because it takes a while to chase everyone off. Affinity drops, pups get hungry and it just makes a mess of everything. So if the consensus is to roll back the save, I completely understand.
Also, Junction Butte 5F must die now.
I vote to keep it. You knew the risk to his and your health, and you took a risk anyways. On the other hand, I don't think wolves are supposed to do that territory sweep. They aren't supposed to play like players they are supposed to act like NPC's! "This hex is above 50%..." And all that popup that always annoys me. But I haven't really had the roll in place before. The only time I watched it come up was a hawk kill stayed cannon. If it was more used in the past I don't think I was there for it.
But mostly because it's not a baloney death, it was a risk that did not pay off :(
Edit: Many others want the special rules to stay in effect. I will change my vote if the coordinated attack is indeed a bug, and not a feature.
I personally think the challenge aspect is really cool, and adds an extra aura of mystery and hope surrounding deaths in situations like this. Also Tawn is one of my favorite mates, and I was very close to crying when he died. If I could, I would personally go into the game and yeet those two wolves off the map.
I've already commented on the matter in the supporter discord, but I'll say it again.
I think you should do what's best for you in this situation 💛
If everyone decides not to roll, i think it'd be interesting raising pups on her own. Never seen anyone do it before all the way through as a lone alpha.
I vote to keep it you said you have never had a wolf lose a mate so it would be a great story telling opportunity. Also their could be an arc on finding a new mate because game makes you rush things when you have pups you do not get a trial period. This also gives you a chance to get a new achievements such a second timers and I am juggling as fast as I can
Oh my gosh… I have so many things to say.. first of all I can’t believe you used Kite as 8F’s name, especially because she was my favorite in the first place, you are my absolute favorite UA-camr and every time you post it’s the highlight of my day! ❤ keep up the great work, second of all Tawn’s death I did not expect (but I may had looked at the comments a tiny bit and I freaked out, sorry I couldn’t help myself), but as tragic as it was, and how much I loved Tawn I think it should be cannon, he was currently my favorite mate after Hope died (Stupid lakeshore bear), and I’m on the verge of tears rn 😂, but I think just like Hope he died defending is mate and pups, and so I think Cassia would find a new mate. Now regarding Pigeons Quest, I am ABSOLUTELY loving it, but what’s odd is also four wolves attacked in her quest too, so maybe it’s a bug or a game feature? Again, keep up the great work Jay! Also, are there any free ways to support you so you can keep making content besides subscribing?
This was a rough episode...
I think you should do what would be most bearable for you going forward. If it's just going to be frustrating digging yourself out of this crummy situation, go with the lost tales rules. It might be narratively interesting to see where Cassia goes from here, though...
this could be a good character development for cassia, i think whether she finds a mate or not, platonic or not. i think it would be interesting to keep going and see what else happens with cassia since she is a a single mom now. and with the new struggles of raising multiple pups alone, it seems that things may get harder if she is doing it all solo.
i might be exaggerating about the attack bc i have no idea if the creators even planned an event like that to happen for us, but it seems like it could have been planned by the wolves. the wolves could have been threatened by cassia and tawn so they wanted to take at least one of them out.
in the real world, that seems very likely for wolves to do to that to their rivals. (especially if they are closer to their territory) if this was something the creators intended to include in the game, i think that's a good thing. it seems more realistic that way. i am on the fence as well, you can roll back time and try things differently with tawn surviving and see what happens there. but i do think it would be interesting and entertaining (for us lol) if you do decide to keep going.
i'll be fine with whatever decision you make! so much stuff happened at once, i am still so shocked lol
I don't think you should roll back a save. Even if Tawn's death was sad, I think it adds a great plot twist and some drama to Cassia's story.
Pretty sure that there was a bug involved to get the chaos level in this episode. That was nuts with the territory!
Tawn did not give bold wolf vibes to me but he sure turned around and charged in there rather than retreat with Cassia at the end... like covering her escape. If this is cold reality and not a cule nightmare for Cassia and Tawn. Tawn will go out the valliant hero.
In general my feeling would be to leave it as is. The exception being bugs in the game or if i am testing something and always intended to roll the save back.
On one hand this would really add to the narrative that drove Cassia to settle in a new place... for the story I'd be tempted to leave it.
On the other: clearly various systems were not working as intended and this could be an exception due to that.
You love stories so i would encourage you to choose the option that lends itself best to the story you are telling.
What works better with your idea?
The loss of Tawn or the near loss of Tawn?
...Also it is the ravenwing pack and ravens are often associated with magic and the spiritual world. Perhaps Cassia has a previously unknown ability or the ravens themselves gifted the pack a second chance.
I think Tawn should be brought back. Cassia & Tawn are good mates & an excellent team to raise ups & fight enemies. & I don't want Tawn to die nor want this to be the end of him. & I agree, he fought back fiercely and heroicly to defend his territory and his pack. This day was nonsense & nobody deserves that, except maybe, for the three other packs who won't give them a break. "All deciding to wreck the Ravenwing Pack today with no mercy". At least give him a 2nd chance, just to prove himself & to his family, please.
your videos are always perfect for when im drawing >:)
Honestly I feel like you shouldn't roll. As much as it's very sad about Tawn he fought so courageously it makes for an interesting story and good character development. But also i feel like Cassia would be very very VERY picky for a new mate. Even if would risk pups' safety
Nooo Tawn :( Rest in peace
y'know, you could've barked (the alert bark) to get tawn to follow you out 18:24 . . .
I- …Tawn was the BEST mate that’s I’ve ever seen he was my favourite ngl Poor Cassia is heartbroken😢❤
I don't really mind if you roll back or play on, I just wanna see at least 1 Junction Butte wolf die. Preferably 5F.
It might be a little late to comment on this episode, yet here I am.
Honestly, Jay just made every mistake to get Tawn killed, and it's painfully obvious to me as an accurate player.
1. You don't fight for the territory! If you enter a stranger pack hex and see rival wolves, you say to yourself "welp, I'll claim this tomorrow" and retreat to your land. You don't start biting around. Not to mention, you don't try to pull off 2 vs 4. And you have no reason to keep fighting after your mate suffers a minor injury. And you have even less reasons to fight after your mate breaks a leg!
2. Hunting a beaver without an ambush bonus so close to the water is really just losing more health. And it's strange Jay did it right after saying "I don't want to stay in the stranger wolves territory any longer" =(
3. Going right back to the fight with another pack with such low health is just a death sentence, really.
It would be fine if Jay let the territory decay for a day. A den attack by rival wolves is not a big deal - we get them regularly either way. But I guess having low health with several carcasses scattered around on a challenging difficulty is not the end of the world. It would be much, much worse on accurae.
So, Tawn's death is a disaster Jay 100% created herself and completely ignored it coming. However, it adds drama and the series get more interesting to watch, so there's a good part to this story too, I think?
Hope you know you can use the bark emote now to call pups .
I think we should leave it as it is, the character development for Cassia would be nice. Don't bring Tawn back
I find it more interesting to leave Tawn dead and find another mate.
I had a nightmare about a wolfquest mate dying last night, didn't know it was an omen-
This feels like a bug. The way all the rival packs attacked at once and ur two groups of wolves in your territory marking together wasn’t right.
Man…That stinks. That almost feels like a big,my sister had something similar happen a month ago where her wolf died and she had to re-load (she doesn’t do permadeath with the wolves she plays as.) because wolves continued fighting her when she was in no man zone and out of there territory,Hope they get that fixed soon.
Were the wolves dispersals or part of a pack? I've seen some dispersals with a pack name like "Ghost Pack" or "stargazer Pack"
I will miss Tawn
Idk what to say but I lobpve your vids :)
As interesting as a story this would be, I really miss Tawn and I think his death was unjust! Rollback the save! 😭💜
I'd prefer a roll cause health was lost due to weird mechanics early on with 2 patrols ganging up on them
Nooo not Tawn 😭💔
I can't really decide
Karma sucks and Ivory just lost the mate he thought he was going to spend the rest of my life. A hundred times yes he would go back and save her if only he could she had a cool story too. I am changing my vote to yes. Because Ivory couldn't the save was overwritten as iron wolf. She died by the river due to a bear and his mistake of climbing a rock in river while she tried to get to me and attacked the bear. Ivory watched her fall over dead. Ivory grieved the future we never had her personality never completely revealed and the thought of other lazy mates sickened Ivory.
as much as i hate to say it, that was a legal death for tawn 😢 it was not a glitch death because realistically this can absolutely happen.
as for the perks we have from other playthroughs, it would be cheating to revive him because cassia took a huge risk and she paid the ultimate price. lesson learned, as hard of a lesson it is. oh man my heart just shattered 💔😭
⬇️ all the people mourning Tawn
can you name 2f pigoens pup antler
I think you should find a new mate start a whole new family let Tawn Rest in peace it’s more real that way
you shouldnt reload, this makes things more realistic
hey findns
3rd comment yay
With the territory, the new ai has changed some of the pack behaviour where they will spam howl in your hex until it is claimed. I think this is a bug, and I also think the devs are working on fixing it.
How is that a bug? Isn't it what wolves do irl?
@@GenericDan It's not a bug because they're stealing territory, it's a bug because they're taking territory that was completely full overnight by spam howling. If the territory was low, that'd be fine, but the issue is that players are having difficulties doing anything about it, because the wolves will just return the next day.
@@chaosgoose Oh. I don't play WQ due to my bad laptop, so I didn't quite understand. Thanks
@@GenericDan No worries!
