To a avoid these problems you mentioned I will use my heng long Sherman merely as a STATIC MODEL as I do with all my scale models. It will be a nice addition beside my 1:16 M1A3 Abrams main battle tank by Trumpeter. Excellent view and display.
John, since you came up with a very cool way to add an Escape Hatch, and have it perform double-duty on the vehicle; have you ever thought about trying to some how afix some APPLIQUE ARMOR PLATES to the sides of the 1/16 Sherman Tanks for us fans of Sherman's with the Applique Armor? If you did, I bet they would sell like "Hot Cakes" on your web-site!!! So many late war Sherman's have them on there, and I bet a bunch of us Tank Nuts would love to add them to our Sherman's! (There you go...there's a CHALLENGE for you!)
I can't say since I have yet to build a mato sherman. They look nice and would probably get one. I will say that I had some problems with the electronics on the tiger I built from them but they don't use that system anymore
Mato upper hull and details are better than HL and Taigen. Weld beads are nicely molded as well casting numbers. Light guards are more delicate and better looking. Lower hull is similar to Taigen's but it have track tension system. Turret is nicely detailed with early commander hatch. I've bought only upper hull for my Sherman project BUT next time I will stick with stock Taigen. Pot metal parts are pain in the a** to modyfy.
oddball759mm I mean my Taigen tanks have the Taigen charge system with the DC connector, why not use that because the hole is already present on the model?
We don't have that system here in the states. The only taigen recharge connectors are the tamiya plugs... which work fine Also There is no hole to plug the model in and if there is like there is on the tiger it's an eye soar and I plug them up anyways.

there is nothing wrong with the HL sherman, Like I stated in the video with a little polishing they are great running models

Taigen Sherman is far better than Heng Long. I have one too. Mine is during construction to make M4A3E4 (Oddball's Sherman from "Kellys Heroes") :)
on the Thingiverse site, they have 1/72 scale 3d printed figures from that movie !

Paint good, upgrades to smoker and charging not good, Taigen sells their own charging system
