Dude. Use something dark and redesign an old 80s boom box. :)
wenge would make a nice wood for a boom box
Jeez those boom boxes had a lot of switches and buttons. 🥴
The epoxy bullet sticker look just like the puffy stickers from back in the day. Whole nuther level! That was some outside the box stuff!
Thankyou for being you and not just another youtube woodworker. You are one of the few that really inspires me. Great work on this excellent project!
❤️👊🏻
Another video where you totally crushed it David! I really dig the approach to taking something kinda mundane and remaking it in a really creative way. This is a lot like the xylophone build in that respect, and that was another seriously fun video. I always look forward to your videos, especially now that you're taking stodgy ol' woodworking videos in a new direction.
Thank you!
I love the fact that this is a simple plug and play case mod, and doesn't require you to push down. I wanna do something similar, but with an OG NES aesthetic.
I think this is my fav project/video yet. Super cool. I did like the suggestion by someone else about a controller to compliment the game system. Awesome work. I never thought about glueing the round corner.
David! This whole thing blows me away! Your project theme, design, material choices, tutorial value, music, editing, and FX are all working together in such an enjoyable piece of content. Nicely done.
Thanks Bernie!
A fun idea for the SNES could be metal which may be difficult but rewarding.
Another option would be faux stone. One of my hobbies is tabletop game terrain and it's super fun and cheap to get into. You could make a case out of XPS foam and texture and paint it to look like stone or something! The UA-camr @blackmagiccraft has a ton of tutorials on the techniques
Great video David! Loved the fast pace to match the pace of the awesome music!
Every week you post a video we're inspired by your creativity, especially when you make your own music tracks. Keep pursuing what makes you happy! I think the maple burl looks really cool - even from far away.
Great work! I was very excited after the teaser and you total nailed it.
That came out beautiful! Really dig the video style on this one too. Have a good one David.
MORE STUFF LIKE THIS. OH MY GOSH YES. This is amazing David. Thank you for this!
And by that I mean more projects like this. I love the old school items being upgraded or modified. I kind of missed hearing your perspectives throughout the video though!
That was fantastic! The entire video was a work of art...From the music, to the edits and visualizations, and of course, the design and execution of the project - Amazing!!!! I cannot begin to imagine the time and effort it takes to make projects/videos of this caliber. Thank you for all the incredible content you produce!
Thank you Alex!
This came out awesone! I was waiting for this video to come out.
Everything about this project and video made me smile. Was really inspiring and made me look around at stuff I can build new cases for!
Love the total 8-bit audio! Really liked how it worked with the edits and transitions too!. I know it may be a bit out of your mid century modern style - but maybe something incorporating some walnut and brass or even steel.
That looks really nice. I can see why Bob thought the burl front was cork. EnEsEs was a great song to start the video with.
One of the best videos yet! Keep up this style, huge fan!
The way you did the curves is super cool! Love your creative flavor you throw at retro stuff!
That’s looks really cool. I have a box in my basement that I have an original nes with a ton of games. As others suggested, you should make some new remote cases as well. Maybe something totally different so they could be comfortable to hold and play with. Great video David.
Look great. The video style was fun as well. I love the way you made the legs.
Wow, that turned our really good. Amazing build, thanks for sharing with us! I don't have any ideas for the SNES, but I'm super excited to see what you do!!
Love the build videos. Thanks! When you get funky all's right in the world.
I love this! Also, 3:25 really highlights the issue with the Grrrriper. I have one and use it occasionally, but it does that more often than not.
Fantastically creative! I enjoyed the build and the end result. I appreciate all the content that you put out. I’ve learned a lot.
I’m glad you spoke at the end. I like listening to what you have to say. Be it a heartfelt story of your grandfather or just something funny.
Great build and video. The music was perfect and the footage that look like it was from an old worn out vhs was great. Matching wood controllers would be cool.
Your imagination continues to amaze and inspire me, David! Looking forward already to next weeks video. Keep up the excellent work!
I love every aspect of this video. The music is ON POINT. THE CONTENT EVEN MORE ON POINT. THE EDITING in the intro! LEGIT. 2L2Q.
❤️ hammertime!
David this is one of my favorite projects you've done yet! The original NES is still my favorite system to play, and the fact that your design reminds me so much of a goomba from Mario 1 makes it that much more awesome! Can't wait to see the Super Nintendo design.
Great video! Think of all of the electronics that you can build wood cases for!
The problem with the connect is also loose pins. I used to buy old NES off craigslist for really cheap, disassemble, do a deep clean on everything and re-bend the pins to make a snug fit again. Always worked like a charm. Great video David! I've been waiting for this one since your last video sneak peak and when you were talking about it on the podcast!
Awesome work, Dave! The music is perfect!
Great video. Your skill is really picking and creating ideally matched music. This reminds me of the xylophone video. Your musician’s ear serves you well... you should harness that more often in your videos... it truly differentiates you in a big way. Well done!
Sick idea. Love the bending of the plywood. Can’t wait for your next video.
The trick for curving the plywood was GENIUS, definitely keeping that in my back pocket. Enjoyed this new video format too.
I am never going to make one of these. But this was definitely fun to watch. It was interesting how you built the case. It's great to watch the problem solving and I think it sparks the mind to figure things out on many different projects. Thanks for sharing. The music was pretty cool too.
Thanks Angie!
Really love the experimentation and overall build!
I love this video so much!
All I want to do now is recase my electronics.
Maybe the SNES nests on top of the NES? The legs could match the curve of the NES case and sort of key onto the veneer strips.
All the fun!
Thanks for your creativity!
I love everything about this, David! Amazing transformation and a piece of art! Even down to the legs...such a great detail and design!
Your creativity is always so fun to watch, great build, thank you for sharing!
Awesome build David! Amazing! Now you have to do the controllers!!
Super dope video and project! Gave me all the feels
Liked the resin sticker idea too!
Keep up the great work!
This one was awesome. Love the format, video, and build. Well done. I have a feeling this is gonna be a successful video for you. Throw it on gaming reddit they will eat it up!
I do kinda wish you’d made wood controllers to go with it, but still, super super cool.
or aluminum ones with a burl inlay for the face
Wood controllers would really make that pop
And a wooden cartridge case as well.
Woah now heath lets not get carried away here lol
so great! that bent plywood looks amazing. I'm looking forward to digging into the next video.
That is awesome man! I was listing to the Podcast and was looking forward to seeing this.
Awesome job bro!
this is a majestic thing of beauty!! for the SNES you should do metal castings or make it like steampunk.. gears/tarnished copper and make the housing clear or see through with epoxy and mix the to elements!
You are truly creative my man. Love it!
AWESOME David, and the music made me smile and brought back a lot of memory. (mmh Tetris, puzznic, parasol stars, etc).
For your super nintendo, here is an idea (if it's not too late): Upholstrery & Super mario world plant (containing a drawer for the games and the consol on top), can't we just have fun.
Awesome build, looks fantastic!!! I do have to admit that I miss the talking, you’re so good at explaining what you’re doing and why.
Awesome work Mr David!!
Been looking forward to this video! Great job!!
Legit one of the coolest builds ever. I like the video too. Great job on this one!
Great build - I love the shape and the contrast of the metal legs. It makes me think that a system built into a coffee table would be fun to have.
Love the tunes. I am now craving a case of Mt. Dew.
How about a plexiglass enclosure with some kind of cool lighting inside? Maybe a single color or RGB option. You could maybe use your laser engraver to make frosted areas you want to stand out.
Love this video and project! Stuff like this is why I love your channel. Could be cool if you could incorporate the snes into one of the characters. Like maybe if you turned bullet bill on the lathe and hollow him out that could look cool or maybe a goomba. I think having it encased in a villain would be cool. Or maybe you could make a massice wood nes controller coffee table that actually works with the nes and snes.
Loved this build dude!
Clear resin cast with LED lights for the Super Nintendo. Great job on the project, I always wanted to do something like that but was always scared of the electronics.
Very creative redesign, I like the metal legs. They add a nice contrast
Awesome stuff David! 😃👍🏻🎮👊🏻
It's about time you posted this! What, you think we all have lives and better things to do than wait for your awesome videos?!? 😂
Sweet sweet build. You are an inspiration to us all!
Ha!
You should create a Star Wars themed case for the super nes. I always thought it looked like a spaceship. And kudos to you on the design and the video editing and music. TOP NOTCH!!
I really love this one! Thanks David
I liked so much stuff in this video. The music, the project, the video style. I wish there had been a bit more detail, like things you did differently this time from when you made your wood keyboard case, which seemed like a big hassle. This one you made look a lot easier, and I'd have liked to know more about how you did it. My only thought on the next case, maybe a bit more "how to"
Love this build. I love childhood memories of playing this and yes I 👋 would blow into the cartridge. I just got a raspberry pi and downloaded thousands of those games to relive the fun with my children.
Great video! Loved the music 👍🏻
I would definitely watch a video of how to tune that bandsaw to get such straight cuts using the fence... because I fail so often doing that exact thing... Great video Dave!
I love when I’m thinking about a channel and then I check UA-cam and they just uploaded. Also I’m excited for the kerf cutting video because half the time I get it perfect and the other half of the time it just breaks or doesn’t bend and it’s just bad.
Idea: Clear case with wood accents for the SNES.
Wow!! I love everything about this! You are the man!
That was epic! I have an idea for the SNES, but I might save it for mine.
Love the shot of the metal feet flying off the sander 😂😂😂
Seeing a lot of clear case ideas for the SNES. I think acrylic or wood with clear resin accents would be cool. Maybe some LED glow?
Great video and great music!
Nice work! This is awesome!
Very cool idea, and it looks awesome!
Amazing edit. Great job.
This is awesome!!!! I really love both of the tracks that were playing in the video. Will you be offering your song to purchase for download at all? I'd love it as a ringtone for my phone
DAVID PICCIUTO!!! I'm late to the party my man! This was an awesome build. Definitely takes me back to my childhood. I really love your design, and I can't wait to see what you do with that SNES.
This brings me so much joy I can't even describe it! I think I have my next project now! So freaking cool!
Thank you!!
Amazing work !!
Cool design. Love the music.
Additional trivia: Another cause for the blinking light was due to the 72 pin connector's ZIF socket but for another reason: The constant pushing down on the cartridge (insert, then press down to make contact) would cause the pins to flex less and less, and thus some or all of the pins would cease making reliable contact.
Also this has me wanting to make these to sell. Hmmm....
Great vid! Definitely inspired me to take all my old game consoles apart now 🤣. What if you made a shelf for the NES that was the housing for the Super Nintendo, and game storage?
I've wanted to make a box for my pc but never thought about doing for game console. Maybe for the next one you could build it in to a coffee table. Maybe even fit a couple of consoles. Have some art work from a game on the table top.
Awesome build David. This piece will be though of as a "Classic Picciuto".
Really cool build David. 👍😎
The video was bloody killer, top marks to the editor. Oh and nice build too....;o)
Awesome build man!!!!!!
Nothing short of Amazing !!
Sweet job, man. I know the front piece is some fancy rad burly stuff, but for some reason it ends up looking like cheap OSB underlayment to me, which is a bummer. Very cool idea, and thanks for the tips re:the clones and parts available on Amazon!
Love them aesthetic of this one. The aluminum feet (legs?) and burl front both look amazing. Using polyurethane glue on those kerf cut bends is a fantastic idea! Another vote here for wooden controllers to match. Thanks for sharing!
Great video and 8 bit music. Console looks awesome! Namaste. : )
Came out AWESOME!!!!! loved the video
so awesome! love the different wood textures and the custom details (buttons FTW). one fix for the 72-pin connector is to boil it in water. sounds weird but it removes the set-in dirt and it also helps to re-align the pins which can also be an issue over time. it worked on a used one i picked up that had all sorts of problems. excited to see what you do with the snes in the future =D
Ohh, great tip! Thanks!
