Marshall Applewhite is a very interesting case in terms of a cult leader. He wasn't like any of the others like Jim Jones or David Koresh, he wasn't loud or brash or even mean, he came across as kind, nurturing, caring and quiet and soft spoken (not saying he was those things, I'm merely saying it was how he presented himself on camera). He also allowed his students/members to leave whenever they wished, gave them money to make a phone call and bus fare. Another thing was he didn't allow children in the cult, again, unlike Koresh and Jones. He also didn't die in the firey blaze of hell with authorities, it was (at least I hope it was) peaceful and uneventful, until the media found out. Yes, Applewhite checks the boxes for being charismatic and knowing how to convince others of his beliefs but unlike Jones or Koresh, he didn't try to force his beliefs through fear and dangling the sword of damocles over the heads of those who felt like they had no choice, he even says in one of his videos "am I telling the truth? Marshall Applewhite is a very interesting case in terms of a cult leader. He wasn't like any of the others like Jim Jones or David Koresh, he wasn't loud or brash or even mean, he came across as kind, nurturing, caring and quiet and soft spoken (not saying he was those things, I'm merely saying it was how he presented himself on camera). He also allowed his students/members to leave whenever they wished, gave them money to make a phone call and bus fare. Another thing was he didn't allow children in the cult, again, unlike Koresh and Jones. He also didn't die in the firey blaze of hell with authorities, it was (at least I hope it was) peaceful and uneventful, until the media found out. Yes, Applewhite checks the boxes for being charismatic and knowing how to convince others of his beliefs but unlike Jones or Koresh, he didn't try to force his beliefs through fear and dangling the sword of damocles over the heads of those who felt like they had no choice, he even says in one of his videos "am I telling the truth? You'll have to decide that for yourself" in other words, its up to us. Its sad how they all ended up and what took place that fateful day in 1997. My only hope is that it was peaceful and I hope they felt love and happiness in their final hours

They probably felt peace and devotion. They were not under the influence of alcohol or drugs when making the decision to commit suicide. their souls were in great confusion and indecision. they did no harm to anyone. they spent themselves. They had simply swept away their suffering bodies into a true eternity.
