- Grom Hellscream and his clan had rallied with the up-and-coming chieftain Thrall in the battles to free themselves from the humans and in the journey to Kalimdor. Mannoroth, the demon Pit Lord and master of the Fel Orcs, wanted to curse Grom and his clan again with his demon blood to make them Fel Orc savages once more under his command.
However, Thrall was able to get to Grom in time to purge the demon blood once again and to cleanse him, but Mannoroth would not give up his orc servants so easily.
Mannoroth, had started to work his fell magic again on him and his clan. This time, Grom would not fall again under the curse, no matter the cost...
No old friend, you've freed us all.

LOL! Ancient gamers 😅😅😅 im 36, not 76 😊
It always amazes me how those cinematic portions of the Warcraft 3 game have stood the test of time. Dont know any game from that time that does the same.
These cinematics were so good my old computer that I used to play Warcraft 3 on couldn't run them
Diablo II is the same way man. High quality cut scenes
@@JnM2011 ....not really...those ones are sooo far into the uncanny valley its not even funny.
But look back at the medivh or terenas cinematic. The arthas cinematics. THOSE hold up so well as well
@JMurphy boy? single? are u on drugs? the whole series of war3 cienmatics were dope
A good design will outlast realism, any day of the week.
This video always brings a tear to my eye. RIP Grommash. Toughest orc there ever was.
Fun fact, official stats say that Grom is 46 years old during 'Warcraft 3: Reign of Chaos'(Year 25), but according to 'Rise of the Horde' he was already Chieftain of the Warsong clan,19 years before the Invasion of Azeroth/First war between Orcs and Humans (Year 0). That would make him only a couple of years old when he accepted the 'Blood curse'. His true age is somewhat of a mystery..
Except maybe Broxigar
Defiantly!!😭😭😭😭😭😭👏👏👏💜💜💜💜💜💜💜🛐🛐🛐🛐🛐🛐🛐

you are not alone my friend
This cinematic was so powerful back in the day it made everyone fall in love with the Horde.....Thrall and Grom were the dynamic Duo.....Grom was the Orc of Legend.
Now that's what i call a redemption story.
One of the most epic cinematics in gaming history
Lok'Tar ogar, big brother, may the Warsong never fade.
Lok'nerd, this was a game and not real so no memorial is necessary
both of you shut the fuck up
So by that logic don't cry on Forrest Gump because it was just a movie... Then you can only cry over your pathetic existence... Have fun!
Best line in all of Warcraft history.
You just gotta love Mannoroth, he is just so epic, his laugther, his evil, his battle skills.
his gut skills
Even after all of these years, I still tear up at how noble and heroic Grom's sacrifice is.
The Mighy Hellscream
*Claps for the voice actors and animation team!* ^w^
True !
Grom isnt ready for raiding, he stands in the fire here and in the WoD cinematic
ForTehNguyen his guild will surely disown him
ForTehNguyen Yea but still...... he praticly solo the boss so say wuuuuut ?
"I see you brought the MIGHTY HELLSCREAM"
I wish I'd read that comment years ago
Plot twist: Grom respawned in Altar of Storms lol
lmfao
to this day, I still have no idea how Altar of Storms, and the other races' equivalent, work
they explain it in tutorial of wc3 RoC, when a hero dies his/her soul continues to exist and they can be revived in the altar of their race
Fuck WoW
Warcraft died right after the Frozen Throne.
End of subject!
@@blackfyre5158 story wise yes
I still think that this was probably the best quality ever at its time, and its still really good.
Almost 20 years later, still brings tears to my eyes.
Rest in peace, Grommash Hellscream. You made the sacrifice no other could make. You have freed your people from the same addiction you gave them, and have redeemed yourself. You will not be forgotten by your people, they owe you everything.
Lok'Tar Ogar. May the Warsong never fade.
I'd rather face 10 Mannoroths then 1 GROM HELLSCREAM!!! When he charged at Mannoroth...God, I got chills and I shed tears...
--Mannoroth attacks Grom and Thrall
--Thrall gets stunned
--Grom types in whosyourdaddy
--Mannoroth dies
--Grom disables whosyourdaddy
--Mannoroth suddenly does a suicidal attack
--Grom dies
:D True story bro!
XD lol
So it wasn't because he was fried from the Fel fire?
hahahahahahaha😂😂😂😂😂
@JMurphy r/woooosh
It’s ironic how Gromm gave everything to redeem himself in that moment , while his son was the complete opposite
Garrosh was fine at first, they forced him to do a totally unrealistic villain dive during & after Cataclysm's events, then doubled down on it even after many ppl called it out as inconsistent.
It's me the only one who cried when Hellscream died ?
***** I poop on my desk
I cried because they didn't use his WarCraft 2 voice.
+Belz Zebuth Why would you cry about that? He sounded like a goblin on LSD.
pateuvasiliu Ugh. I didn't cry. It was a figure of speech. And I like his old voice because it's distinctive.
I did
Oh Thrall... the first Warcraft character I ever played when I picked up Warcraft 3 when I was a kid... what a long way he has come 😎
you freed us all. rest in peace old friend.
That roar of anguish still breaks my heart as it did the day I first listened to its gentle fade away
And then neo-blizz writers ruined the lore by making demons unkillable making groms sacrifice worthless.
The last minute of this always gives me the tingles
I've always played alliance characters in wow , but damn the horde's lore is so much better than the alliance's.. it makes me wanna level up an orc..
nice change of pace of the damned humies always getting the lion's share of the focus and lore in most other series.
*****
i'm talking in comparison to other franchises.
Markovnikov90 Well, I haven't played WOW but the Horde's lore is just so much better (I keep up with it because I still play WCIII). Characters like Sylvanas, Thrall, Grom, Cairne, Vol'jin, Rexxar and even Lor'Themar make for great histories.
You know I never really examined it back when I played the game, but I think its kind of creative how in the same game they showed a virtuous hero descend into a being of pure evil (Arthas), and then a bloodthirsty warrior finally confronting his demons and through selfless sacrifice frees himself and his people from the grip of of a cruel tyrant.
Garrosh had a 500% buff and still gets his ass whooped by Varian. Grom cleaved through a DEMON LORD while wounded and suffering from fel withdrawal.
Thrall was right. Garrosh is not worthy of his father's legacy.
Garrosh and Varian fight? When? and don't say in Ulduar cinematic.
Well I hated Garrosh but its must be said, when that happened Garrosh wasn't buffed in any way(it was before) and Varian was and still is blessed by the wolf spirit called Logash for the orcs and Goldrinn for the nght elfs and before you will ask I know that you aren't refering to Ulduar.
dannysnaps kestorr While he may have been superior in physical strength you have to keep in mind that in comparison Archimonde was easily the most powerful foe in the wc3 games. He toppled an entire city by himself in a matter of seconds and it took the Hoard and a good bit of the Alliance just to slow his progress to the World Tree, even then they had to set a trap for him.
Also I wouldn't say that the "entire hoard" isn't worthy of Grom's legacy. A good number of them have done very impressive things. Take Rexxar for example. With only the help of Chen and Rohan he saved saved the Hoard while they were still settling. He defeated an Ogre warchief in fair combat, he killed admiral Proudmoore along with a very large portion of his troops, saved the Darkspear tribe while they were under attack. Saved Bane Bloodhoof from the centaurs when even Cairn thought it was impossible and survived the gauntlet. He is more than worthy of being considered equal to Grom.
I feel you are being unfair here. Grom wasn't alone by any means when he fought against cenarius. He had the entire hellscream clan as well as several others with him. If you recall they were all getting their asses kicked by him until they drank from the blood well and became fell orcs. He owed that victory to the demon blood more than himself. I am not denoting his strength by any means but you can't say that Grom beat Cenarius on his own or easily.
Grom is a hero because he died protecting the Hoard from a massive threat but that doesn't mean he is the "only" hero it has. Its hard to say a hero that survived is as great as one that made the ultimate sacrifice.
Simply put Rexxar has accomplished much and survived when many would have died. True he hasn't had the chance to kill the king of pit lords but that doesn't mean he couldn't do it. You can't really hold it against Rexxar when he hasn't been given the opportunity to do something like that.
I admit that the Hoard is falling apart at this point. In terms of power Vul'jin is not suited to be the warchief but at the same time he has the wisdom to at least lead them away from being bloodthirsty war savages. So I am indifferent towards him. It is unfortunate that Cairn died he would have made a great warchief.
dannysnaps kestorr If you want a real Horde hero (not to discount Grom or Rexxar, who are both awesome) I'll raise you Broxigar Saurfang. Fought in all three wars, the only member of his unit to survive the defense of a key mountain pass against hordes of demons. Thrown into the past and imprisoned by the Moon Guard he managed to look past his own xenophobic attitudes and protected Malfurion for the good of everyone. He was given an enchanted axe by Cenarius himself because of his skill and his actions. And now comes the fun part that eclipses all of the rest.
He threw himself into the Well of Eternity in order to hold back the Legion. He remains the only mortal to ever reach the Legions home. There he held off the entire Burning Legion single-handed and built a mountain of corpses. He killed enough demons to draw the attention of Sargeras and then did the utterly unreasonable. He injured Sargeras; an injury that later gave Malfurion and Illidan the time they needed to close the portal and stop the Legion.
So there you go, Broxigar Saurfang. A war hero who overcame personal prejudice, won the favour of a demi-God, held back the Legion on their own turf, injured a Titan single-handedly and quite possibly saved the entirety of Azeroth.
Gorehowl when from 7 to 6 dmg.
Such value
Two legendaries, gone

I'm disappointed, Garrosh. You are not worthy of your father's legacy.
And now he is :D

@@professionalcommentstealer5271 I won't let YOU take him!
@@ainsleyharriot6060 We have all suffered from his atrocities, my people more than any other. Let him stand trial in Pandaria, there we will have justice for all.
This shit has held the test of time into 2019. Groms of roar defiance to mannoroth still gives me chills.
Yes indeed a history changer, the new expansion is. This particular event here from WC3 is after a long hard battle with the demons to remove themselves from the curse which the new trailer shows never happened because they refuse to drink Mannoroth's blood which was the origin of their super bloodlust power curse.
Garrosh caused this not to happen by telling grom not to drink the blood.
Ferrucio Fernandez Grom=Garrosh...?
Joakim Akkermans No, Garrosh is Grom's son, who has gone back in time and advised his father Grom to not drink the demon blood. That's why history has changed :)
It doesn't change history. If it changed history, it couldn't happen. The new expansion is a result of the past. If Grom never drank the blood, if the orcs never invaded Azeroth, if Thrall/Goel was never in an internment camp, if he had never met Grom and helped him free the orcish race from demonic slavery, if none of that ever happened. Thrall/Goel would never have known Garrosh Hellscream's father, would never have placed him as warchief, and Garrosh would never have tried to model the horde after the actions of his father, and in defeat would never have gone back to warn his father.
Those events still happened, and due to the finally formed Infinite Dragon Flight, these are the natural events that would have and have unfolded.
Which means thar blizzard is shit now.
Notice in Grom's last seconds, his eyes stop burning. "The blood haze has lifted."
I remember it so well. All these years ago. I would watch this over and over again. Orcs were my favorite ever since Warcraft 2. And their storyline hit me harder than the human/undead one, being a male with latent anger issues - watching these fearsome creatures opt for the right thing... It hit my thirteen-year-old heart like no parental lecture ever could. And I think I'm the better person today for it.
Games are art.
I hope Warcraft 4 happens, and it continues where The Frozen Throne left off.
It already happened, and it's called World of Warcraft
@@NoobKillerZX i refuse to acknowledge wow lore past wotlk
@@calculus3661 that’s your problem
there are very well made custom campaigns that cover BC and wrath storylines and lots of other moments. these are pretty much warcraft 4 but unofficial. BUUt since blizzard broke custom campaigns you will need old version of WC3 to play
This is just Blizzard...they made such an epic and high quality cutscene almoust 10 years ago! And it still is awsome...especially for those who knew the true story of Warcraft and who loved it.
Way to go Garrosh. You made your father's heroic sacrifice mean nothing!
15y later. Cinematic made me love orcs again.
This is it, I'm gna rock the orc in WotLK Classic
for Doomhamer!
I hate the WOD story, goes against everything the Orcs fought and stood for.
Well it's only because Garrosh didn't show Grom this part here. Remember, Garrosh kinda manipulated his father in an alt universe just to get revenge on both the Alliance and Horde. Garrosh showed Grom drinking the demon blood and being enslaved but he didn't show how he would've redeemed himself.
Had he shown Grom the whole story behind this, perhaps he would've reconsidered the whole Iron Horde thing.
Why the fuck isn't Grom in Heroes of the Storm???
+IF As this video shows, the only thing that could kill Grom was in fact killed by Grom, would be unfair to have him in game
I guess Grom is just too awesome to be in HotS.
+RamYouUptheButt The actual one is, I am sure the nerfed as fuck one from the Warlord of Draenor can be. Fuck Bliizard, they ruined Grom for me, you took all I liked about him and in one expansion shat all over it.
+Maedhros Curufin I don't like how ugly they made Grom in WoD. Grom looked so badass in Warcraft 3.
Also, fuck Blizzard for adding Cho'gall who's worthless as shit.
And now we have a zombie for warchief, WTF happen to the horde?
The GOOD, original, core stories of WoW are dead and gone.. hell, the game stopped being good after WotLK. Sylvanas is a cool character, but Warchief of The Horde? Ridiculous. She's an undead elf, with no connection to Draenor, (or the Orcs), at all. WoW's become silly, but will die a slow death as Blizz milks every possible $.
to be honest the "new" horde didn't have much of a connection to Draenor either, except for the Orcs. all the other races were from Azeroth, and it was the Tauren that helped it come to be.
Actually from a story telling stand point it makes perfect sense. Gorrosh was supposed to be a universally hated leader. Causing a major rift in the horde. Vol'Jin was the obvious choice following the Darkspear rebellion. But he had to go. In order to lead into a reformation story line. He is too attached to Thralls horde is what I'm saying. Thus Sylvanas, using the horde for her own personal gain in legion. yad yada, driving divisions even further. Honestly, I think in the long term they want to make another faction. As the original alliances cannot continue without being bloated and stupid. We're already in the territory now. We NEED a third faction and a lore reason for them to exist. To be fair, the undead only BARELY made any sense to begin with. If they want to continue to expand the game with new races and classes. There is going to need to be a third faction.
If you want to be reeeeally technical, the only 'true Horde' was during the time when it was just the orcs. Then came the allies that later joined, the Trolls and the Tauren. The elves, goblins and forsaken are still allies at best. The Horde that the veteran orcs would remember died the day Garrosh became power crazed in Pandaria.
@@sonofliberty78 damn you predicted the future. are you a member of the bronze dragonflight?
Still getting goosebumps from that last roar of Thrall.
Demons always forget the one rule: don't piss off the dude hopped up on Mega-Crack, especially when the dude has anger issues and a giant axe.
As far as cinematics in games go, i gotta say this is definately still one of my favorites.
0:53 Battleshout 0:57 Thunderclap 1:05 Shattering Throw 2:03 Charge 2:09 Sunder Armor + Rend
That howl when a warrior dies, straight ripped from TNG Klingons. Still awesome.
"No old friend, you've freed us all"
Those words bring me close to tears every time
No matter how many times i watch this....i get chills...
Why couldn't Grom just be revived at an Altar of Storms?
Destroyed by demons, they killed all the peons so nobody can rebuild it, and destroyed the great hall so peons can't be trained anymore

I'm allergic to the feels.
i am curious to see how thrall is going to feel when he sees grommash as his enemy in the next expansion.
well it is a artenitiv univurs so it wont be so dramatic
dont forget the horde is gonna team up with the frostwolf clan (thrall father is the leader)
yeah but it is a alteritiv so we can kill him with out it doing with the future. fuck it lets kill every one of them.
nah it is really fucking confusing but i think its like this garrosh screwed the orgnial timeline so we go back so were probably gonna have to fix what garrosh fucked and turn it back to the orginal events
j super but then why would we be going back to fix it? surely if it wasnt fucked up in the first place we wouldn't need to fix it?
1:53 ''... within your heart you know we are the same'' sure dude both of you are voiced by the same actor... it's technically true
Definitely my favorite cinematic from the series.
I'm not in danger, Thrall. I -am- the danger.
is that gorehowl?
Also the doomhammer!
I still think gorehowl should have been the arms artifact in legion. Made more sense.
@Evurgreen Gray it was even more painful for us death knights getting screwed out of frostmourne. Sure the frost spec had the twin blades but that felt like an insult and slap in the face. My unholy artifact looked more like frostmourne than those twin blades did.
Healer? WHERE's THE HEALER?! WTF HEALER WAKE UP!

its a shadow priest
I obviously didn't realize this when I was a kid but those fools got sneaked up on by a 50 feet monster lol.
They have to win Oscar for this.Damnn that emotional last Word’s of Grom Hellscream.
Also, let me say. These cinematics are still of the highest quality even by today's standards. I can keep coming back to Warcraft and all its glory for years and years to come. One of the best games to have been made.
Love Grom's Hellscream!
Came back to watch this with the Warcraft movie coming out soon and Legion coming soon after that!
There is one Orc who will forever be more badass then any other, and that Orc is Grommash Hellscream, the original, not the Iron Horde wannabe alternate.
None shall ever lift an axe close to this man, for with a single strike saved his whole race from the demonic corruption.
Can any of the others races of Azeroth say the same? CAN YOU? No. You cannot. Even I, as a Worgen and member of the Alliance bow my head and plant my blades in the ground in honor of his warrior, humbled before one whose shadow I could never stand in on my greatest day.
Lok'Tar Grom Hellscream. Blood and Honor. Victory and Death.
+JakeCWolf They're the same guy.
*****
Are they? No, no they are not. Same blood, same soul, different timeline, different Grom. A despot and a villain, not a mighty, misguided and ultimately self sacrificing hero.
JakeCWolf Hmmm. Can't say why he'd want to conquer another world all of a sudden but I'd say he always put his people before anything else.
cough cough Broxigar cough cough. What?
Borxigar was written by a Knack, making him, complete shit. Anyway, he never killed a demon as powerful as Mannaroth, Grom one shot him.
now is it just me or does thrall look more boked in warcraft then he does in wow? lol this cinematic is what inspired me to write my own epic fantasy Thank you blizz for making such an epic cinematic! ill never forget the first time i seen this ! =)
"No old friend, you have freed us all." Chills every time.
Grom is going to be in the new WoW expansion!!
Actually I don't believe he is.
Rispetto N he is.
Byron Grierson Actually, Green Jesus is Thrall, not Grommash. Grom is going to be in the new expansion. It's called Warlords of Draenor, and it's an alternate take on this very storyline: What would have happened if Grom never drank Mannoroth's blood, and everything that destroyed Draenor hadn't happened. Actually looks kinda cool.
On June 7th I am going to USMC bootcamp, I have always wanted in someway or form from all the life lessons I have learned from all the great stories in gaming, that have taught me all my morals and values..Grom influenced me the most to become a Marine. His sacrifice despite all of his rage in the end he did what was right. Grom died for his people, as I would mine. I know fully that it will be nothing like the virtual world, but the values are the same to me. Lok'tar ogar, for our country for the Horde.
Grom died to save his race, you are protecting corporate interests. You're the farthest thing from him.
Well I guess grom is 12/13 mythic now
Thrall’s screams makes me sick.. I’m done I’m so done maaan R.I.P, 14 years later same chill
After all these years, this is one of the most epic and emotional cinematic scenes in the game. It brings a tear to my eye as an adult😢 and a huge fan of this game universe.💪🏼I've been a huge fan of Warcraft since I was a kid.
Too bad for Thrall, he lost a good friend.😢
They don't make them like that anymore. Seems like we've settled for cheap cartoons in comparison.
I just can't comprehend the fact that Grom isn't playable in Heroes of the Storm in the beta.
they dont want players quitting because of the awesome opness of grom. also they should add guldan

Watched this again after 10 years. Still gives me goosebumps.
More like Grom kills Mannoroth. Thrall couldn't even put a dent in the guy.
he actually put a dent... in his wing...

I loved the warcraft franchise... Such a shame it became a MMO.

The most tragic death in the entirety of the Warcraft mythos...
This moment blew my 12-year-old mind when WC3 first came out.
15 years ago but still one of those scenes that brings back emotions.
Also for it's time, not that bad for graphics and plot build up.
This cinematic is better than the ending of WC3 TFT. Too bad.
Yo wtf they changed Thralls warcry. The reforged one sounds lame.
They also changed Grom's voiceline. He originally says "I have fooled myself."
Don't worry thrall will see grom and YOUR FATHER again in the new expanshion Warlords of Draenor!
I didn't think the Pitlords knew words like 'misbegotten' and 'futile'
Mannoroth is their king ... So he is probably more intelligent than ordinary Pitlords , Altho not smart enough to stop Grom from kicking his ass twice
The greatest cinematic of all time.
2:12 Mannoroth sounds like a baby throwing a tantrum
Damn right he does!

This is how a warcraft movie should look like
15 years later and this cinamatic as well as all the others are still amazing
When I watched this again after a long ass time I figured that this is impressive animation for a 2002 video game.
Most heroic sacrifice in all of wow followed by varian death
never played a horde in 5 years played wow so far but this still gives me chills ..."no old friend , u free'd us all"''' aaaaarggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhh"
I can only imagine how much fury Thrall has in the back of his mind about Garrosh's actions considering how much he trusted his father.
I'm glad that at least Hellscream's hair survived all that fire.
