Hi josh, is there a book of NASPA words? I found the official Scrabble players dictionary, but sounds like the NASPA word list is a bit different. How does one study the north american word list?

Hi Mike. Unfortunately, unless you are a member of NASPA, you cannot directly purchase a print edition of the NASPA Word List. The way that the word list is studied is via word lists that are uploaded online to various study tools. You can download NASPA zyzzyva for free at scrabbleplayers.org/w/NASPA_Zyzzyva_Download. You can also study from it on aerolith.org for free. The current list is called NWL20, but in the new year, NWL23 is coming out, which contains thousands of new words.
The word list differs from the OSPD, as you mention, but is pretty similar. I imagine that eventually, the OSPD will likely take over the North American Competitive Scrabble scene, as there is really no good way to grow the game via a word list nobody outside of several hundred tournament players use, especially one that is not approved by Scrabble's brand holder in North America, Hasbro, despite being largely the same. This becomes closer and closer to reality after each NWL update.
