I'm 15 and my parents don't understand that it doesn't effect me when they lecture me, they think I will learn something, they already taught me all this shit, honestly, I'm now testing out what they taught me, they treat me like a little kid

The losing interest thing when your parents tell you and you lode interest: I think I know why. When you want to be responsible and make your parents proud without them asking you, you feel proud and responsible yourself! But when they ask you- you feel like a little kid:) parents should give their kids a chance to do thingss themselves

SAME! My parents (mostly my mom)won't let me feel anything. If I'm sad, "you should be happy" if I'm happy, "why are you so happy all the time" if I get even the *slightest* bit annoyed they start coming at me "why are so mad all the time" "you need ro learn how to control your anger"
It really makes me upset because *I'M HUMAN TOO!! I HAVE FEELINGS, AND THEY MATTER!!*

wow, you so nailed it. Especially number 5. It's weird I don't like being asked to do something but I'll do it when my parents aren't home or if they don't ask. It's definitely weird.

Here is the # 1 thing parents need to teach their teenagers: how to recognize the traits of type 1 sociopaths among them. Parents need to teach teenagers this to help prevent them from being used, abused, and confused! They may not know there are people camouflaged among them who have no conscience and who secretly want to hurt them. Parents put all their finances and blood, sweat and tears into raising their children, and all they need is one sociopath or type 1 sociopath to destroy their lives. Good to know the traits!

This made me me smile, it's quite funny and some people are just taking it wayyy to seriously. Overall if your parents show they care, appreciate it! Some parents don't give a shit about their kids or don't even have parents

  • @worcesterexchange554
    @worcesterexchange554 8 років тому +11

If a parent says "Where would you like to go?" They want to do something nice for you. It is going to cost them time and money and they have an emotional involvement in trying to make you happy.
They would not do that for someone who was just a casual friend. Ask them where they want to go, and take them there, and pay for them.
So when you as a teenager say 'I don't care' What it sounds like to the parent is F** your time - F** your money - F** your friendship - F** your emotional involvement. I have no interest in you or how you feel or what you want.'
This is obviously not a good basis for a friendship.
You only have to do this two or three times for the parent to feel sad and resentful and to respond in kind. They will say - usually internally - 'Let me know when you do need me - but don't make it too soon!'
And remember, sometimes you will never have the chance to make up for rejecting your parents - they may be gone one way or another before you realize that they are the only people in the world who will ever truly love you and who would literally give their lives for you.

We might not have anything in mind, so we want them to choose what is best for them and us that is why they are our parents, they know more than we do and besides maybe what we have in mind is a place they do not like so it's much better if they choose.

When I was a teenager I never slept in nor did I eat a lot because I came from a poor family. I always had a neat and tidy (spartan) room. I had no text books, gadgets, tech stuff, or even a desk to do my homework. I never gave a shit about anything because I was naive and disconnected. I never knew anything about homosexuals, lesbians, or transgenders. But my sisters cried a lot and made a big deal about silly issues. It must be a girl thing. I had deadbeat (selfish) parents but I turned out okay as an adult.
You said you make a big deal about small petty things, and yet, you don't care about anything. You are fortunate to have good parents and eat four meals a day.

A majority of the time, parents would have had experienced what teens have. Parents don't listen to them because they already understand and have gone through that situation and help my giving them an option that lets them either avoid getting problem or solve it.

    Hi Meg,
This is a really good video.
You made it four years ago - so now you are 19. How about a follow up? Do you still feel the same about most of the stuff? Do you still understand how how you felt then?
If you had a little sister would you still agree with it all - or would you say - you need to get up and clean your room?
We would really like to hear your updates.
Thanks again for a great video.

The thing that parents don't understand is when do thing that are weird and different with our friends - pretty much every teen is wacky and silly with their friends. My mum thought it was weird that my friend made toast in her bra and pants as a dare. And it was a weird thing to do but preteens especially just mess around and have fun. We don't need to be mature all day everyday.

Worcester Exchange,, as a parent of two highly rebellious and ungratefuly rude shits of narcissistic teens I
    couldn't agree more.
Devices have delegated parenting to the scrapheap.
Unfortunately when these present day teens have their own they'll be worse off.
Artificial intelligence will be their nemesis!!
    Sad.

The funny thing is that when I was born I was underweight and was thought to be bullied for being too small but now im too tall. And I don't think its generic since my dads small, my Mums tall but im already taller than her.

Holy smokes.. It's how I was as a teen... SO GLAD TO BE OUT OF THOSE YEARS... As a 24 year old, 5 years out of teenagerism I have some hard truths for you.......
    1. Laziness. Go and help your parents. ...If you've had a hard week, be mature and tell them you're needing more sleep, but if you're spending your time on Xbox or your phones.. Whose fault is that?
    2. Gluttons with no self-control and high metabolisms. You'll gain everything you ate in your 20's. You will RUE it. T____T
    3. ....
    4. You should care. People are considering your opinion and valuing your thoughts and wanting to please you and you're literally just rude about it. Sorry people care about your opinion?? T__T Your parents are people too! One day you might not have anyone in your life that asks your opinion at all.
    5. If your parents need to tell you to clean your room you haven't proved you're able to handle a mature chore.
    6. Oh, you're messy? ...Have fun having roommates one day.
    7. At least you have parents to ask you if you want to do something.
    8. Would you rather them ignore you if you're having a bad day? Imagine if one of your friends responded the way you respond to your parents. "How are you?" cold silence
It's pretty silly to believe people would think, "oh yeah, they're perfectly fine...just gonna... go about my business." How about just some decency and responding when someone gives you their time to ask you a question because they love you?
    9. If I was treated the way I treated my parents as a teen I would tell myself, "Bake your own cookies you ungrateful, self centered psychopath!!" -__-'' ...But hey, that's just me.
I'm 24 and am so glad to be out of the teenage years. I see myself in this video and have regretted a whole lotta things. It's been proven our brains don't fully develop until we're 25. Remember that. You will do and say many things you will regret and will not be able to process things correctly. Once you're out of the dark valley that is teenagering... Don't look back. Apologize to your parents.
