Nice old video, I was there in 1989 when I was driving my VW campervan around the world. I bought a beautiful handmade blanket for my van at the market in front of the church. Dank je wel.
Dear Michael, thank you for taking the time to post this video, it was a delight to see Chichicastenango from your perspective in the 50s. I didn't get to Chichicastenango until the 1980s but made several trips there. Not many videos exist and yours is excellent because it was well done. As I watched, I recognized the shot of the street in front of the Mayan in, looking back towards the cemetery. Were the marimba players at the Myan Inn? As I watched, I thought you were probably set up on the main church, shooting back towards the smaller one and was waiting to see if you switched your position...and sure enough you did, allowing me to see the larger cathedral with the men swinging copal incense. Your video brought back so many memories for me and it's way better than so many of the new videos that have been posted recently. Once again Michael, thanks for making the effort to share this. I will look at some of your other videos now. Cheers, Karl
Just went there today. The outfits are the same and the market is busy. Just people are wearing shoes now. Have many years you have been traveling? It seems you go around the world. Amazing!
Me hubiese encantado conocer Guatemala en esos tiempos. Te amo Guatemala 💙
