Happy New Year Gaynor, and may you and your family have a blessed year ahead. I have a new routine in my day now. Instead of listening to all sorts of junk as I go about my busy at home day, I turn on your videos and watch and listen throughout the day. It's amazing what you can learn as you fold laundry, bake cakes, mop floors etc. Then when that's all done, get to my art station and produce art that gladdens my heart. I took your tip to sit and sketch in the evening, and I have had so much fun with that. I just wish your videos were longer! I'm sure everyone agrees with me. I love the small canvas where you mixed paint to get the jade color. When you did all the other colors and then hung it, I thought “what a great abstract right there! Frame it!” Love your videos! I learn a lot!
I have that Matisse book and have been taken with that painting. My interest specifically at the time was his composition..... putting that table right in the middle! But it works. I love the greens.

I became rather enamoured of the colour celadon some time ago, used most famously in Chinese ceramics. It's close to the colour in the Matisse, but a tiny bit yellower and lighter. I found I could mix it with Mars Black, Primary Yellow, Cerulean Blue, and Titanium White. Love mixing colours, very alchemical! I've enjoyed this video thank you...... the bit on warm up drawings a good prompt.

Again, a very inspiring video,and I love how generous you are in teaching your approach to the creative process. Just a little advice on the plant with the yellow leaf, you can trim it off no problem, it’s one of the plant’s very early leaves, so just an old leaf that can go. 😊 🌱

If the colour is showing right the green colour that you’re looking for is what you’ve done, but I think it has a slight grey tinge to it so possibly the smallest amount of black or premade grey into it may help. I’m no expert it’s just what it looks like on the screen I love mixing colours trying to get exactly what you’re looking for. It’s a lot of fun. Can’t wait to see what fun we get up to on this channel this year.
Hello. Finally got to watch the video on Friday. So no deep buttoned chairs here, I ate the aubergine and butternut just didn’t have the same appeal as a subject. So I looked out of my window and saw my favourite plant and painted that. BUT it’s very realistic. All my pens smudge if I paint over drawings, a few weeks ago you recommended a particular pen. Please tell me again. And especially thanks for all the encouragement. I also tidied up over the holidays and discovered another two sets of paints and some dyes. So next job is to try them all out and see if they are any good as they were bought for fabric embellishment.
Hi Guitardee XX look for anything permanent...the pens I use are Uniball, fine, permanent. On canvas, double ended permanent markers. Don't you love a good find....makes the tidying extra worthwhile 😂 Have a great week XX
Such a great video Gaynor! Suggestion about the "jade" color you're trying to replicate, in his original painting dominant color is more desaturated. I would mix in a wee wee bit of that burnt sienna (or some burnt orange color) and more white, and see what you get!

Happy New Year! I finished an acrylic painting using the (dreaded) thalo green and alizarine crimson that I’m happy with, so I laughed when you were mixing your jade green. I also finished an abstract painting. I never gave up on it thanks to you, plenty of covering up the canvas once again with white and adding more paint and collage pieces. You have taught me soooo much! I like your idea of interiors. I have an odd very old chair that I will use as a jumping off place. I get my creativity by looking at photographs and watching you!❤️🖌️👏🏻🎨✏️

Great advise. I will have to have a look in our library for Matisse books. I think I only associate the Blue people shapes with him, which I never liked. I’m no expert it’s just what it looks like on the screen I love mixing colours trying to get exactly what you’re looking for. It’s a lot of fun. Hello. Finally got to watch the video on Friday. So no deep buttoned chairs here, I ate the aubergine and butternut just didn’t have the same appeal as a subject. So I looked out of my window and saw my favourite plant and painted that. BUT it’s very realistic. All my pens smudge if I paint over drawings, a few weeks ago you recommended a particular pen. Please tell me again. And especially thanks for all the encouragement. I also tidied up over the holidays and discovered another two sets of paints and some dyes. So next job is to try them all out and see if they are any good as they were bought for fabric embellishment.
Hi Guitardee XX look for anything permanent...the pens I use are Uniball, fine, permanent. On canvas, double ended permanent markers. Don't you love a good find....makes the tidying extra worthwhile 😂 Have a great week XX

Such a great video Gaynor! Suggestion about the "jade" color you're trying to replicate, in his original painting dominant color is more desaturated. I would mix in a wee wee bit of that burnt sienna (or some burnt orange color) and more white, and see what you get!

I just love watching you. Do you choose color pallets intuitively....or do you have a plan ahead of time. Lots of you tubers do shows about favorite colors, pallets and brands...just curiosity. Happy New Year! I finished an acrylic painting using the (dreaded) thalo green and alizarine crimson that I’m happy with, so I laughed when you were mixing your jade green. I also finished an abstract painting. I never gave up on it thanks to you, plenty of covering up the canvas once again with white and adding more paint and collage pieces. You have taught me soooo much! I like your idea of interiors. I have an odd very old chair that I will use as a jumping off place. I get my creativity by looking at photographs and watching you!❤️🖌️👏🏻🎨✏️

Gaynor, something not art related: My birthday is coming up and my two wonderful grown up sons want to buy me something special and I keep thinking about a necklace (or two!) you used to wear all the time in your earliest videos, the chunky chain link ones. Great advise. I will have to have a look in our library for Matisse books. I think I only associate the Blue people shapes with him, which I never liked. I love that painting that you were inspired by. Here in the USA those color wheels are still available. For those of us in the USA how can we purchase your art work?
