Thank you for this video. Thanks to you I fixed my 46x4500. I used Ceramic resistor 5W 6.8 Ohm - without temp fuse - because couldn't get any with temp fuse. Works like a charm!
Hey Chris -- My troubleshooting lead me to the same problem. Where were you able to find a replacement for the RWT05 fusible resistor? I can't seem to find them available anywhere online.
@@johnrichards5053 all good! I ended up doing the same. Television works wonderfully! Television and stereo repairs have been my passtime this summer. What a rush when they finally work!
Thank you very much for your clear explanation. I had exactly the same issue and was able to repair the TV by replacing the blown cement thermal resistor with a standard cement resistor of higher wattage and separate thermal fuse. A $500 TV repaired for 60 cents. Brilliant!
Thnxs very much you creator of this video. Also for me, or actualy my daughter in law, kept me from throwing the TV away. I could also measure that the component was broken (infinite resistants). So I allready bought a 6,8 Ohm resistor. Later after hammering the broken component i found, A second component, The thermal fuse. After soldering the plain resistor the tv workt again. But i want to have it fused again so gonna go for the ceramic + thermal fuse in ONE despite it is a bit harder to obtain. thanks very much again.
This also fixed my tv! THANK YOU SO SO MUCH!!! Now I wonder, after reading comments from so many other people experiencing the same problem...wasnt really SONY expecting this component to fail after some years?? It doesnt seem like there were just a few faulty components. Planned obsolescence?
I have those small cables (8gray 1 white) next to The glass on The left side not connected. Is there Any smart way to see which one belongs to The right port/place?
Thank you so much! You saved my day and a new TV. I just had the exact same issue and your step by step instruction helped me so much!!! Cheers and by the way - happy new year!
The picture of the Daewoo 42F 4100 TV is cut off after one hour of working with the backlight on, but we do not have the picture. The image is displayed when we plug in the power plug again
tman855r It’s hard to find the part with an inbuilt thermal fuse. You can heat shrink a separate thermal fuse on to the body of the resistor. Wire them in series.
Hello! I have that tv. Thanks to your video I have fixed the TV's ignition. a month has passed and now a screen is seen on the screen that can be removed by deactivating in DRC mode. How can i fix it? Thank you!
I have a XBR-55X850d that has a faulty power input/LED driver board (part 16ST012S-A01) and I'd like to repair it. I can get a replacement board but they are a common failure point on these models and I'd like to identify the cause instead of replacing it everytime it fails. Do you happen to have any experience with this model?
I want to say thank you. You helped me fix my sony kdl-40v4100 I had the same 6.8 ohm resistor go bad. After I watched your video I checked my resistor and it was the problem. Now I replaced it with a 5.6 ohm resistor and tv works now but will this cause a problem???
I have an LG 23mp55hq-p monitor. The on screen menu works just fine and displays on the screen. When a video device or PC is plugged in it blinks a picture for a split second then goes black for 10 seconds and flashes a picture again. Any guesses as to what the problem is? Could it be just a bad cap?
Hello! I have Sony KDL 40x4500 now I see stripes on the screen that can be removed by deactivating the DRC mode. But that mode is automatically activated again and the vertical lines reappear. How can I fix it? Thank you!
Did you replace the broken resistor with the same type that combines a 6,8 ohms resistor with a 142 °C temperature fuse? Or did you replace it with a resistor without a temperature fuse? I had the same problem mit a Sony KLD 46Z4500 but can't find an online-shop that sells these resistors with the temperature fuse. Do you know any?
Viktoria Hi. I have the same problem. I can only find a replacement from the US and that's going to cost me 70 GBP just for shipping ! I'm in the UK. I cannot find a replacement board either. I have ordered one without the temp fuse just to see if it works.
Blackscienceproject1, I now use this one (without temp fuse): Royalohm 6.8 Ω 5 W PRW05WJW68JB00. Since it's maximum temperature is 155° it may offer some kind of security. So far it works fine. I also have tried combining it with this temp fuse several times: 125 °C 2 A 250 V ESKA A3-F. But it didn't work because the temp fuse died after about 10 hours of usage each time. The resistor is still fine though that's why I use it without the temp fuse for now. I have no idea why the temp fuse died.
Viktoria Hi interesting indeed. I was considering doing what you have tried. I am a little worried that we should be using a temp fused resistor though as I have seen what happens when a resistor overheats and it could be a fire. I will check out the one you got..thanks for the info
Blackscienceproject1 One more thing: At the beginning I let the TV run for about 3 hours without the back cover and the measured temp of the resistor was only 30°C. Not sure though how great of an effect the back cover of the TV actually has on the temperature, but the temp fuse always died with the back cover on. But I can hardly believe that the back cover on/off makes such a great difference.
Men i ask you in another video. If i note i have a bad transistor and i didnt have the same here and i have several boards from anothers tv with transistor.. what i need to see or know for compatibility or replacement from.another board?? Like your style of video repairs. You keep the chatter to a minimun to say the least. Good job, thank you.
Thank you from France: I could repair my tv with your video, it was the 6,8 resistor!
Very good video. Detail on how to take apart and how tests were made were Outstanding.
Had the exact same problem and was able to fix it after watching your video, many thanks man!

That was immense! You helped me fix the exact same problem - it was that 6.8 ohm resistor. Many thanks. You are the Big Cheese.

or did you just replace it with a normal 6.8 ohm resistor, without the fuse?
@@DillonStrichman Hi dillon,
Sorry for the late reply. I just replaced it with a 6.8 ohm resistor of the same power rating. No fusible.
