Great video Marcin, I’ve only recently started fishing for sea trout and had caught nothing on my first 4 or 5 outings, but I got an 18g line thru seeker by savage gear and caught 1 and had many more hits. Just another option for you to try out
Great lures lad, I always have one with me, but I must say it's not doing for me as well as the other lures. Might be that I am not giving it enough time
Martin, take a look at a few of the Danish films 'seatrout secrets' (havørredens hemligheder)....try what's called a 'spin-stop' when you feel a nip....just stop reeling for a second and they usually strike :-)
cheers Dave, seen them and I actually do that, just not at the right time LOL every time I tell myself what you said exactly, and the next time I get a hit, the heart goes mad and I forget the whole lot :) :) does it work for you?
Hi Marcin, I have been recommended your vids. I love fishing for sea trout in the estuaries also, I got a fantastic tip for you, out of a mag i had where they were fishing for nile perch (huge) and they jumped and shook a lot. Top tip was applied to my seatrout fishing, removed all the swivel and rings on lure (spoon) then thread your line through the lure both holes. After you attach your line to one swivel on the treble. I went from losing a lot of fish jumping and shaking their heads throwing the hook because the weight of the spoon swinging quickly back and forth. To catching much more seatrout hooked. When you hook a fish and they start to jump, the spoon will slide up the leader away from the hook then down into the water they go spoon slides back down. And each time the fish jumps it slides up your leader. Try it out and I think you will like it and have a lot more landing of the trouts. Smaller dropper fly, rogan gadget, medicine fly tied on a size 6 or 8. Let me know if you try out the method. Tight lines.
very good info Kevin, thanks for taking the time. That sounds spot on. Not sure if you're aware they do inline metals these days, very popular in the scandinavia. Essentially you have the line running through the lure into a bead and the hook to achieve exactly what you say. And yes, they lose way less wish that way.
Nice to see your out and catching,I like those lures Marcin, but I still would be fishing with alot smaller trebles,10s say their mouths are small and so different from bass.I think that's why your getting bumped so often.Good vid though mate.
Derek Hogan ,What size on a mepps would you use for a 2/3lb brown trout in a river ? That's the size you need ! .trout flies hook sizes are normally small ,their mouth shape and size and take is different to bass.I lose more fish through jumping when hooked ,but my hook up is normally good.
Thanks for the comments lads. I already changed the hooks for smaller but it makes sense what you say. I will drop the sizes down again and report back the findings 👍👍
@@MarcinKantor @John as a rule of thumb, i compare the treble to the width of the size of the fish mouth i am aiming to catch, and reduce by a half. who knows if its right, just my thing :)
Good thinking there Derek, they are big hooks for the size of their mouths. I'll definitely test it to see if smaller ones increase the hook up ratio...
Loving your videos Marcin!..thanks for sharing your knowledge 🙏 I've got sea trout in the rivers as a young lad (mainly on the mepps spinners)..but this will the first winter trying the estuary, so a total beginner in the saltwater😄 it should be kicking off next month? Is there a particular water temperature that brings the fish in, when it drops in nov/Dec? Maybe I'm way off the mark but heard Nov/Dec/Jan..as I say total beginner 😁 Love your bass videos by the way👍first season on the bass this yr on the copper coast waterford and a few nice fish..lots and lots to learn..thanks again Marcin..tight lines🎣
thanks for the comment Ian, great you're enjoying your fishing. Re sea trout - please note we're in the closed season till March. that includes estuaries. Open coast is excluded if I am not mistaken, but do consult the seatrout bye-laws online

Hi enjoyable video good tips, should I be fishing in the estuary or just outside for seatrout in general rivers teifi and towy in Wales I usually fish but with no water I'm keen to try salt water, Thanks
Hi there, estuaries can be very good. Outside as well, but I think it is easier to find the fish in the estuary itself. Depending on the location, low water can be good if enough depth as it concentrates the fish in a much smaller area than outside in the sea
@@MarcinKantor brilliant thanks for your reply, Is it only worth fishing the estuaries when the tide is rising or falling or is there a chance at anytime? Thanks
The reason for the bumps but not hooking us that trout very often rush in and headbutt smaller fish to stun them then turn and come back to eat them, this is their norm, only sometimes will they take right away
@@MarcinKantor I'm afraid just like anyone else I can't help but try to tighten into it. If I could I'd slow almost to a stop and jerk the bait a little but your reactions are hard to resist

I have a 150eur Airrus rod, 2.20m, 15-56g, Extra heavy power, Fast action. Basically pike jerkbait/zander rod, it's super lite, but it's very "dry" and stiff. I wonder i might loose many Salmonids, because of how they shake, there is nothing to absorb the movement.
i love fishing the dropper, ive been trying this method for about 3 years now what ive noticed is when their in the mood it makes them go mental but its tricky to get the hook ups on the dropper, are barbed trebles still legal in the south for sea-trout? in the north its banned to use a barbed treble for sea-trout now which is really handy when your fishing at distance
very good info mate. I always find if they're hitting the lures bit on a shy side, adding the dropper often results in a proper hit to the lure. Noticed the same? as far as I was concerned, it is, but I will double check now

Best right now, but still sea trout are notoriously known for being difficult to catch. It usually takes many hours or days of walking and casting before getting one
In the sea itself all year round, but I might not be right. In the rivers and estuaries there's a closed season from October to March depending on the river
Sorry Marcin, theirs a closed season for the species of fish as in seatrout, brown trout ect. Even when fishing in saltwater or the open coast, estuary and transitional waters have fresh water and salt water limits which could see you fishing within the fresh water boundary of a estuary leaving yourself open to prosecution under the fishery acts, check before you fish a new location 👍🏻

Hey what is better mono or braid and if braid what lb mono do I put on the end.
braid all the way for spinning, you feel every knock threw it, use a flurocarbon leader instead of mono, 8-10 handles most irish fish you'll encounter
As whitetroutchannel said, when fishing for bass and pollock go 16lbs min
what is the importance of using 3 split rings? Thank you
they're notorious for sheding hooks, it creates a very flexible link between the lure and the hook and helps minimise sheding the hook mid fight
@@MarcinKantor thank you my friend. see you on your next vid
Curious... Why three split rings...???
they're notorious for shedding the hooks, 3 rings create a flexi link if you like, which helps tackle the issue. they can still shed it tho!

Helps preventing as many fish lost, creates a flexi link. Inline lures excellent for that if not better
