According to the Indian judicial system the upper courts order is to be obeyed by the law court or they can take it as a president it's totally dependent on the trial court judges mentality and his experience soo the trial courts judgements and orders are not invalid but it can be used for reference to the other cases related but the appex courts order or judgement is given more important.
Synopsis of why Sitaram Shetty killed Kotwal:
1) whole sitaram Shetty family was arrested, interrogated amd tortured by cops looking for sheety whereabouts. Family includes even Shetty girl friend
2) kotwal started thinking in cunning way and was about to sacrifice his own people for his safety. If you consider DANIEL KUMAR case, you'll know how kotwal has changed
3) though sridhar and his gang were in intension of killing kotwal in initial days, as days passed by( nearly 3 months) they changed their perceptive towards kotwal and started helping him
4) Sheety was totally pissed on that day and took this horrendous action to assault kotwal.
