As a furry, you ate with this… like I could see fully shaded pieces going for at LEAST 80+ USD, not to mention you did REALLY well at the digitigrade leg structure (long story short, slayed, slayed quite hard)
I feel like the turnarounds would be popular with furries too - since having a good ref sheet is super important to getting art of them done, having a full turnaround of your character would probably be super helpful.
Agreed! As a fellow fan-critic of digitigrade leg posture, _the_ single most important part to get right is for the paws to contact the ground in the same place that human feet do, because that's literally what defines balance (center of gravity vs. corner of rotation). This being said, another useful tip is that when a character is standing straight, _keep their digitigrade joints as straight as possible_ because, otherwise, their legs are technically maintaining a "crouched" posture with the joints bearing more of their body weight. Compare the "invisible chair" exercise where you stand against a wall with your legs bent -- it becomes tiring quickly because your hips and knees are _actively_ expending muscle energy to carry your upper-body weight at that angle, instead of using your bones to carry that weight _passively._
You don't NEED a fursuit to be a furry. As long as you have an interest in anthropomorphic animals, then you'd be considered a furry. I absolutely love this drawing!!

For the legs, I suggest trainning yourself on drawing dogs to get the right proportion. Oh just a little recommandation, for the style you are doing, I would suggest drawing the part from the radius/Ulna to the Phalanges flat on the ground to make him/her look less awkward when he stand up, the position that he’s in looks a little painful for your character. Both have their appeals. Digitigrade feet are inherently foreign to us humans (not having them ourselves) and visually imply a stronger animalistic theme, but are probably also less comfortable to go down stairs with....
As a "grey muzzle" (read: older anthro fan), I'll just note that fursuits as they are today were far more rare in the 80s and 90s. Back then, the bulk of the fans simply traded drawings, either those they drew themselves or by growing artists via printed fanzines or mailed portfolios. As others have said, one merely has an interest in the concept of "walking, talking 'funny animals'" Crafting costumes is a fascinating way to express one's fascination, but it is certainly not a mandatory one. Just by being an illustrator, you've elevated yourself to the "next level". 😉
Only thing I'm seeing that could be worth changing if you're unsatisfied with it is the tail. A tail is an extension of the spine. Here it's not clear how the tail is attached to the torso, it's just sorta sticking out wherever. As for clothing, Zootopia does a pretty good job of establishing how full clothing can wear on less-humanoid anthropomorphic characters like this, and now the sequel has been announced. Things to consider: - The back of the pants/trousers/legwear is going to have a hole for the tail, so it might have a button in the waistband like it would in the front that buttons over the tail when putting them on. - Shoes are optional, but hard to pull off on digitigrade feet, so they're not common for this type of character. More common on more humanoid straight-leg plantigrade character designs. - Ears not being halfway down the sides of the head means glasses and on-ear headphones don't work the way they do on humans. This is why they had Judy Hopps in Zootopia listening to music on earbuds, which do still work regardless. Glasses are often shown just sitting on the nose without arms wrapping around the head since there's nothing for them to hook onto, or just have the arms there not hooking behind anything, but Zootopia manages to make the arms more or less work on a few characters. Straight arms are also common in cartoons, just sorta putting pressure above the hinge if the jaw.
AGHSHBSNDNJDBD THAT DESIGN IS ADORABLE LIKE KILL ME I really want to make a fursona not even being a furry but I also have to make a regular persona but I’m literally so basic I have no clue what it would even look like 🥲 also BRO UR ART BE SCRUMPTIOUS
One thing that is important to remember is that being a furry is just a hobby. Just like any other hobby, you could have furry art as your backgrounds and attend furry conventions, or simply enjoy anthropomorphic art in general. You can decide the extent of your engagement in the community, and any level is valid. I believe I can speak for the furry community as a whole when I say there will be no hate for simply not engaging with the community. Of course, I know that there are always those who gatekeep no matter where you go, but you must remember to ignore them, as they will always be the minority.
Furry are not cringe, furries are the cringe. Source: several furries I have see around the weeb. Your friend offer of a sugar glider is actually nice, as most fursonas are canines (Dog, Wolf, Fox in special) and have a shade of blue as main colour. The eastern furry style is often called Kemono, albeit the western style is also used over there. Well... what if i told you that you can be a furry without a fursona or fursuit? believe or not, some of them are writers, some of them just do art, and other do none of that and excel in programming and electronics. It varies a lot, except the interest in anthropomorphic characters base on animals. Get kicked out?? do not worry about, one has to make a deal with the devil to get kicked out, like... to get kicked out one has to reach such infamy pretty much nobody wanna be near you or in a community with you. Albeit you may find yourself in the middle of some kinda dumb, high school like, drama. Advice: - Do no get a kemono full fursuit unless you are ready to bear the severe consequences of low air flow and lots of padding. - Partial are better as they lack the layers of isolation a normal fursuit has and way cheaper. - cost is 2000 to 30 000 depending of maker. - There is a market for animatics, however that may involve vector base drawing.
As a furry, you ate with this… like I could see fully shaded pieces going for at LEAST 80+ USD, not to mention you did REALLY well at the digitigrade leg structure (long story short, slayed, slayed quite hard)

welcome to the club darling!
Of course, I know that there are always those who gatekeep no matter where you go, but you must remember to ignore them, as they will always be the minority.

you don't need to own a fursuit if you are a furry! It's kinda like with art you don't need a tablet to be a great artist! hope this helped :3

Advice:
- Do no get a kemono full fursuit unless you are ready to bear the severe consequences of low air flow and lots of padding.
- Partial are better as they lack the layers of isolation a normal fursuit has and way cheaper.
- cost is 2000 to 30 000 depending of maker.
- There is a market for animatics, however that may involve vector base drawing.
